Miranda Lambert is not used to sitting still, so a few months into pandemic quarantine she and her husband, former NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin, bought a shiny silver Airstream and headed up the East Coast from Nashville. They made “campfire casserole,” a specialty of Lambert’s dad, drank wine on the pop-up table, and named the gleaming beast “The Sheriff.”

With Destination Marfa now on DVD and digital services, I had the opportunity to catch up with producer and co-star Stelio Savante to learn about how he got involved with the film, his favorite on set memories, working with Tony Todd, and more!
How did you get involved with Destination Marfa as a producer and one of the film's co-stars?
The project kept coming across my radar where it no longer felt coincidental. Often these projects and roles serendipitously chase you. It literally felt like a case of pronoia to me. So I reached out to Andy, we had a solid initial conversation and he sent me the script. At that point the hitchhiker role (Vincent) was still up for being retold and it fell into place very naturally. As a producer, I wanted to help Andy’s vision become fully realized and I reached out and brought in a...

With Destination Marfa now on DVD and digital services, I caught up with director / writer Andy Stapp to learn more about the mystery of Marfa, working with Tony Todd, and his experience making the film:
What inspired you to write Destination Marfa?
In 2010, I had no idea that a town nabbed Marfa existed. Thru conversation, someone told me about these so called mystery lights that were out there in the desert. In 2011, I took a road trip skeptical that they even existed and, to my surprise, my first night to go out and see... they were there. So I studied the history on this phenomenon and I found out the only production ever made about them was in the 90's via Unsolved Mysteries. I decided there had to be a movie with my twist and the writing began. I wrote most of this movie at the end of the longest...

After its 24-hour online stream in May, The Marfa Tapes Film — following the making of Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram, and Jon Randall’s new collaborative album — is available for purchase and rental. Also featured in the short film is the new song “They’ve Closed Down the Honky Tonks,” a track that doesn’t appear on the recently released Marfa Tapes album.

Headlined by Tony Todd, writer-director Andy Stapp’s Marfa sees four lifelong friends veer off the road and venture into a small West Texas town known as Marfa.
While on a road trip from a long weekend at the Terlingua cookoff, four lifelong friends decide to veer off road and venture into a small West Texas town known as Marfa. What attracted them to do so? Could it be the strange unexplained ghost lights that Marfa is known for? While on a fuel stop they meet two very strange employees of a secluded gas station. One of them offers them a chance to look into their future by pulling a ticket from his counter top 25 cent token fortune telling machine. What does it say? Can they trust it? When they enter Marfa, Texas they realize almost immediately that something’s off. Why is this town so odd? Why are very peculiar things happening?...
