  • Tender, emotionally effective and masterly performed by two of the greatest contemporary European actors, it's a remarkable story of solidarity, artistic passion and family virtues.

What is family worth? How much love and attention can you give to your sibling? How much responsibility do you think you have? Or feel you have for that matter? This is a drama and yes its pacing may not be your thing. That does not mean the movie is bad - you just don't like it, which is fine and it is what gives us food for discussion.

This feels very close to life and the acting of those involved is really good. The relationship between the brother and the sister is something that is straining relationships to others though. And it is very well depicted here. Not everyones cup of tea, but if you like your drama heightened and close to life, you could do worse.
  • The film's quiet moments are good - it's in these short, wordless sequences that the film comes alive and we see the characters processing things and how they're impacted by events. Unfortunately there aren't nearly enough of them. The film is extremely overreliant on conflict scenes, most of which are written and acted in too obvious and workmanlike a way. It feels like an hour and a half of spoilt Germans shouting at each other. I wish the lead performance in particular had had more nuance and colour - Hoss doesn't manage to make her character three-dimensional, and the fact the script doesn't give her much to work with other than one argument after another doesn't help.

I had to stop 3 times . I sew her in the movie "the audition" yesterday and even there she was too annoying . Don't waste you're time . It's suppose to be a moving drama but it just to annoying and long .
