I watched this movie after Avery Kristen Pohl joined the cast of General Hospital as Esme Prince. Overall this movie is terrible. Most of the actors sound like they're reading the script as if it were right in front of them. The delivery of their lines sounds very forced with hardly any emotion. The actor who plays the boyfriend, Lance, is especially bad. A lot of the older adult actors have sub-par performances as well.

Taylor Blackwell, who plays the protagonist, Sierra, isn't bad, but Avery Pohl is the star of the show. Her performance is a bit over-the-top, but it works well for her character, Lexi (the titular "psycho friend"), who becomes increasingly unhinged as the movie goes on. She goes from a "mean girl" at the beginning to a full-on murderous psycho by the end. I have a feeling that her performance as Lexi was what landed her the role of Esme on General Hospital, as the two characters have a lot of traits in common. But if you don't watch GH, you likely won't be familiar with her.

So yeah, this movie is pretty bad. The plot itself is actually okay, it's mainly the acting that makes this movie forgettable.
  • OMG! The villain yelled and screamed constantly. It almost drove me insane. The movie does kinda keep you guessing. Although you know who is the villain, you never know what she is going to do. So it did keep you in suspense. It would have been entertaining if not for the villain's constant yelling. The acting is the same bad acting I have come to expect from a Lifetime/LMN movie. So no surprise there. The actor who played the villain's mother, although attractive, looked too old to be the mother of a high school girl. Someone younger would have been more believable. Some of the photography is lovely to look at. The movie isn't too bad if you can get past the villain's constant screaming. So unnecessary.
  • I rated 8 when she recording her but astonishingly that recording wasn't even used and the last 5 minutes changed my mind to lower my rating dramatically.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand how other reviewers here could possibly think this movie was great or worthy of anything over a 2 rating. The one genuinely good thing about it was the clever but hilarious line: "Don't tell anyone unless you want to commit suicide too!"

So many things wrong with the movie - mainly with the dialogue and plot holes:

    1) Mom asking questions that she knows the people she's asking don't know the answers to anymore than she does, such as: "Where is she?!" to her husband, and "Is she dead??" to her daughter.

    2) Mom being stupid again, saying "You don't know that for sure", when the psycho Lexi yells for Sierra at the front door and Sierra says - "That's Lexi! She's come to kill me!" She was exactly right, so she did know that for sure.

    3) Major goof when the parents are looking for Sierra and see the mother's car halfway sunken in the river from a distance but somehow know their daughter isn't in it when they would actually have no way of knowing that - they immediately start calling her name as if they already know she had crawled out of the car before they even got there.

    4) Dad stupidly going down the stairs halfway to talk to the psycho Lexi after she brazenly broke into their house, knowing she has a gun, instead of staying upstairs in a locked room with his wife and daughter until the police arrived.

    5) Last but not least: Sierra stupidly sneaking out after midnight to meet the psycho Lexi and her best friend to talk about never talking about the boy's death ever again, when she and Lexi had gotten in a physical fight earlier that day at school with Lexi screaming foul names at her. But of course there would be no movie if Sierra hadn't purposely and stupidly put herself in harm's way out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night, with the now-known psycho Lexi who Sierra suspected of killing the boy at the party by sneaking GHB into his drink. And she doesn't hesitate to sneak out of the house at midnight and take her mom's car to meet Lexi and her cohort in crime/best friend.

It's disheartening that the actors didn't care that they were making a terrible movie with elementary school dialogue and plot holes galore, as long as they got paid for it.
  • This movie is standard quality for a Lifetime movie movie, plot holes and all. For example, why didn't Laxi delete the video instead of just...cracking the screen? Why did she leave the phone behind? Why didn't they take the recording and immediately go to the police? The acting is terrible and the over-the-top portrayal of psycho Lexi is hilarious, but her dramatic "look, I'm such a psycho" screaming gets really irritating after a while. This is a good movie to watch if you need a laugh while socially distancing.

This movie is really bad, Between Lexi and Sierra, I don't know who's more annoying. Lexi makes Kaitlyn call Sierra, to tell her to meet , so they can make a pact - "too never talk about it again" When they meet, that's all they do is talk about it! Lexi, even admits everything to Sierra! In the end, there are a couple of obvious goofs (watch Lexi ) This movie is horrible, don't waste your time.

This unrealistic to the point stupid! How could someone have as much control as Lexi did over Caitlin! Throughout the movie Caitlin had plenty of opportunities to turn Lexi in without causing herself too much damage, maybe six months in juvi or so! And Lexi was plain annoying and her screams made me want to smash my flat screen LCD! FACT CHECK: if someone's life is in danger and a police squad car is assigned to protect them, there is no way in hell that the car would be pulled for an emergency 911 call! There are plenty of other cars available for situations whatever they may be!
  • This film starts out as the atypical high school teenagers story. It's decent during the 30 minutes, but it quickly goes downhill from there. The main character, who is a flawed, but noble girl, makes some of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen. The worst part of this was the villain, Lexi. I'm not going to spoil it, but this movie fails horribly at suspending disbelief. There were so many face palm moments it was pathetic. This film honestly should have been a comedy. Plot points are left unresolved, resulting in a mess. It's sad that Lifetime movies have great build-up based on the trailers, and end up being damn near trash.

I enjoy this type of movies a lot . Very Good movie worth watching . Enjoyed every moments
  • This has to be by far one of the worst movies ever in the history of movies including both tv and theater movies. The acting was so bad it doesn't make any sense. I'm confused as to how lifetime even allowed this movie to be on its network! The main 2 characters acting was the worst I've ever seen. I don't know what they did to get this role but I hope they didn't quick their day job.

This movie is actually good, but why on earth would the family wait until the girl is pushed out of the window, before calling the police? A normal person would have called once the girl started shooting the gun off. Makes no sense.
  • I hunted this weekend for lifetime movies. I like that they are wholesome but intense but not traumatizing. I also want to move to LA and I know these movies are often filmed in California settings (Walking the Halls, Death Clique, Teenage Bank Heist, etc). I try to be objective and rate movies based off of what they are. If this was a worldwide theatrically released or streamed movie, I would be confused. But for a TV movie on family cable, this is totally fine. It's rather simple: New small town girl in a rich suburb tries to fit in with a disturbed spoiled queen bee and her sidekick friends, but might become the hero after a student ends up dead at an underage party. It'll do.

It is true though that the acting is bad, but that's probably due to the writing and directing style. The director has all the right and power to say CUT. If these girls are ever over the top, flat tone or face, or speaking oddly or unrealistically like "Yes. We must stop her" saying each letter as well when American teens instead often would say "yea, we gotta stop her." Or if they are saying "get off me, please stop" just like that, no emotion despite the situation, while a crazy killer is attempting to push you down the stairs...then the director should immediately stop the take lol but he let them carry on and sent it through anyway.

But at the same time, it's ok. California especially the Greater Los Angeles area is saturated with layers and levels of the talent industry. There's amateur to indie to mainstream and superstardom. There's millions of people competing and performing in each level. So these girls are living their actress dreams, I guess...which is great. It's just this film isn't great. But it's not bad. I did gasp and pikachu face out of surprise a lot while watching (maybe I'm in a good mood. Or maybe it's because I didn't read the summary before watching so I had no clue what it was about). For people who did know what it's about, maybe they were let down.

I do notice though that there's so many negative movies around, and lifetime lacks light hearted comedies unless they're silly romances.
