  • I have watched several adaptations from Harlan Coben's novels in Netflix (e.g. Sage, The Stranger). Most of them (I won't say all) are addictive and get you hooked easily with its unexpected twists.

Among those adaptations I have watched, The Innocent, is my favourite. When you think you know what's going on, there it comes a new twist. Then another, another........

The plot itself is very intriguing. And the way the story is told is also of top-notch. It tells you bits and pieces of the story by the narration of the different characters that are involved. This gives you different perspectives to see the story from a higher point of view. Yet, the narration always leaves behind some critical part of the story that keeps you on the couch and eager to know about how everything goes.

A very enjoyable watch!! Strongly recommend it!!!

I deliberately leave out all the details about the plot as I do not want to give out any spoilers! Trust me, just go and watch it! You won't regret it!!!!
  • This is another great job by a great director. His latest films, the body, the invisible guest and mirage are all great films and this is another proof of his talent. Really, really engaging show. It is one of those shows you can binge watch without being bored a single minute. Coronado is great, as always, and the acting in general is pretty good with few exceptions. If you like intrigue and mistery this is definitely a show to watch. I would recommend watching the show without looking for information about it, the less you know the more you will enjoy it.

Unexpected turn of events at all time... very suspenseful and entertaining. Kept me trying to piece it together at all times.

Plus the cast is amazing. Mario Casas is brilliant. Definitely worth the watch.

Great story, great cast..a good break from crappy Hollywood DC marvel crap esp with disgusting cast who can't act and with english accent, infesting American movies and shows. Best movies, shows are from Spain Italy these days...this one will keep you on your toes..pls make more like these...

    10/10
    Wow
You will keep guessing until the end. Soanish thrillers are the best.
  • A very underrated director. His direction is always outstanding and this is again a prime example of that.
  • Without a single mistake. Mindblowing Spanish art, when it comes to thriller there is no one better than them.
  • Mario Casas and the first couple of episodes are brilliant but the story goes downhill shortly after. Half way through it stops even being about his character. I don't want to add spoilers or reveal the story, but I'll just say that it's not really about him, the synopsis is a bit misleading and if I could go back I can't honestly say I'd watch it or recommend it. There are so many plot holes, a whole different story is told and things just get a bit silly and unbelievable. It's a real shame as the first couple of episodes had me hooked, there's a lot of great acting talent. I thought it was going to be brilliant but it really wasn't. Some plots were underdeveloped, others got too much time and the overall story seems disjointed and misplaced at times, almost like you're watching a completely different series.

This series was a wild ride from beginning to end. A well developed storyline with some seriously bombshell moments. The characters are well cast and fairly well acted. Enjoyable watching the twist and turns!
  • Warning: Spoilers
Don't get me wrong.. I liked the series as a whole, but at various moments in the story there were a lot of things that happened which took me out of the story and still annoy me after finishing the last episode.

Some of the characters (especially Mat), made some choices that were way too dumb to be relatable. Maybe it's just me but to explain it I need to talk spoilers from this point on!

    Some examples:
    • Mat tells Zoe, the detective, on the phone where he is, because the police "just let her go"
    • The Police is dumb enough to let a suspect flee through his backyard without any problems
    • Mat seriously tells Mr. Special Crimes at which plaza his wife is when he's sitting in his little cell
    • Mat then casually walks through a container at a hangar with flickering lights because Mrs Magic says it's where she wants him and his wife to reunite
    • The dead body of Anibal was coincidentally found at the right point in time in the story somewhere in the ocean
    • Mat goes to the front door of the house of Dani's parents with the gun already shown in his hands, just so that they can say he has taking hostages and the "showdown" with the police can happen
    • After being stubborn without giving out anything, dani's father suddenly makes a detailed confession of everything he has done, just because his wife says "talk" a few times! I love it when bad guys tell you everything in a monologue...
-There's no Policemen around to guard Olivia when she's in the same room with Kimmy at the end (also she has no handcuffs on)
    • Olivia forgives Kimmy after that woman made it that SHE ALMOST GOT RAPED IN FRONT OF HER HUSBANDS EYES!!!

I think that's enough to make my point.

This is so disappointing because everything else is so damn well executed and acted. I liked the plot twists and that it wasn't predictable most of the times. I just wished that they would have thought about the fine details a little longer before writing the script... This differentiates a good tv series from a great one.

But hey... 7 out of 10, still woulda bang ;)

I seeked out and watched this series on the strength of the name of director Oriol Paulo, all of whose movies I have loved so far, but I discovered a new name in the process: writer Harlan Coben. Don't get me wrong, Paulo (who also collaborated on the adaptation of Coben's book) proves again that he is a master at controlling the tempo and raising the tension. But it's Coben's puzzlelike, multilayered plot structure, where every piece slowly falls into place until you get the full picture, that is the chief virtue of this series. Not to overlook the excellent cast - really the cream of the Spanish crop in actors working regularly in this genre (Aura Garrido, in particular, is sooooooo good that you don't see the actress - only the character(s)). I have only three reservations about this series: 1) in episode 5, the violence against women is ugly. I get its dramatic purpose, but it's still hard to watch. 2) shouldn't Olivia's daughter be a little younger? 3) the finale doesn't really have the mind-blowing twist that you might expect from an Oriol Paulo project; the biggest twists & revelations occur in earlier episodes. Still, I would highly recommend this series to Oriol Paulo fans as well as to anyone who loves puzzles. I rated every episode 8/10, so 8/10 for the show as a whole.
  • Warning: Spoilers
    1. In this movie the police is acting like children police.

2 . The main characters are hiding some stupid stuff just for hiding for no real reason

    3. They runing with some video tape that shows that the cop killed someone when they have no real reason not to upload them to internet.... 4. The start was good but as the end approaches it gets worse and worse.
  • And I don't mean that in a kind way. That they could have devised such a plot of Renaissance paranoia and twists is a marvellous feat. But does it make for good or convincing television? No.

There were so many improbable plot turns and surprises that it started to make the whole series ludicrous. Quite apart from that, how does a prostitute on the run make the jump into being a paralegal? That's just one of the ridiculous premises put forward here.

Then there was the trail of the pimp maybe being alive and directing affairs from afar. Is he or isn't he? I'm not going to issue a spoiler.

I have to say that the very last scene was about as predictable as it could be. How could those events not have happened?

This is a series to watch if you have nothing better and can suspend your brain functions.
  • Very satisfying thriller experience!!! Great character building, narration, deep plots, fascinating connection making, direction, sequencing and twists. Despite the deep plots, character secrecies and multiple twists, the direction was so perfect that an average person can comprehend and understand the story easily. Complexity in story telling nowadays count towards a higher rating but I personally think this is the best way to do it. Simple story telling but deep plots and sub plots.
  • Whether its a movie or a web series, Oriol Paulo will keep you haunted. I don't know Spanish but still i felt the heat and emotions, thank you once again Mr. Oriol Paulo, for this beautiful, stunning, clairvoyant, exotic, gruesome series!!!!!!!!!
  • Outstanding! What a thrill to watch this series. Just amazing. Oriol Paulo is the king of mystery thriller dramas. So engaging and intense that you can't take off your eyes even single second. Worth to watch 8/10 .
  • Wow! This is one of the best series i've seen in a long time. I could not big this up enough. An amazing script, brilliant characters and well acted. Some seriously brutal moments but would recommend it to anyone.
  • Very good series. Oriol Paulo always gives us excellent productions.

I think if it weren't for the fact that it was based on a Harlan Coben book it could have been better, because despite a good series, some things were very predictable. If it were a film it would be much more interesting and we would have a more BOOM ending, like the ending of "El Cuerpo" and "Contratiempo"

I did not read up on this, as I never do that, so I can be completely in the moment while watching something ... not knowing where this may take me. So when there is the inciting incident in the beginning, I expect the movie to go one direction ... and it surprises me because it skips those beats (it later comes back to certain moments, for story purposes but it almost fast forwards through entire section I was expecting to see more of).

Having said, while the show almost is 8 hours long (8 episodes) and I wouldn't have minded a shorter run time, it never feels like it stretches out or lacks in pacing. The main actor is very well known in Spain and maybe is known to you too if you've seen a few movies from there. He has done incredible work in other movies and is really well cast here. All the actors do their job more than nicely. And while you expect or see certain things at certain moments, there is more to the story than you may think! Very well structured and very well edited to get the maximum effect. With enough shocking moments to keep you going ... and twists - some you may expect, others probably not.

I read an article about Netflix having issues with their original content not being "fresh" anymore ... I think someone needs to do better research when writing articles! Then again click bait always works and writing something bad about a succesful company is always a safe bet - no matter how truthful that ... which brings us back to the show ... and trying to figure out who to believe and where this leads us ... and the characters!
  • The series is very well made and maintains the thrill till the end. But unfortunately it is too explicit and gruesome to watch. I don't know why the director has too have such explicit adult scenes and gruesome violence shown so graphically. We get the idea , the suffering these women and kids are going through but do you have to beat it into our head with such images. The screenplay is brilliant and the twists just keep coming and whats the good part is they are not created for confusion or to give a thrill. The twists make perfect sense when you see the whole picture. Issues I have with the series besides the excessive violence and adult scenes is the character of the lead actor, who despite having been burnt so many times, is still so naive till the end to believe anyone and thats what keeps getting him in trouble. There is some exceptional acting.

Overall if you get disturbed easily or are pregnant do not watch this. If you are depressed or even in a sad mood, you will lose hope with mankind watching this series. And you definitely don't want your teenagers anywhere near this.

Really nice story and cast - enjoyed this mini series a lot!

9* because for me it's way too violent.

Revisited the series and have to say, underwhelming the fourth time round. The first watch I was so engaged and fascinated with the pacing of the series, each episode giving the main characters their backstories. It was very different to see a story dependent on plot twists. But upon re-watching this, it all felt very lackluster, and too easy for the characters. Did this really need to be as long as it turned out? I think it could have gotten rid of the last two episodes, its peeling of layers for more story was so intriguing at the beginning because it was following an investigation which felt very natural. However, more and more would unravel and not everything was as it seemed but jeez Louise by the last episode there's been about 90 twists and it just wasn't entertaining anymore. To be honest, it grew tedious to focus on the show and I found myself bored. Still, even as I write these words, I consider this a solid series and possibly the best Harlan Coben adaptation Netflix has released. This was because it was dark and gritty, well-shot and performance driven, which I did enjoy. If the series were to have tightened up its runtime and eliminated the revenge angle at the end, I think I would have enjoyed the entire series.
  • It started very well specially first and second episode. After that it was just useless drama/chase/skin show.

Could have better with same story at the end it's just illogical suspense and crime thriller.

From the 1st minute I was focused on this series.

If possible I could see all episodes in a night.

The plot is awesome and very very smart written.

    Highly recommended.
