Magnus Martens directed the series premiere of the second spin-off of The Walking Dead which is called World Beyond and he did a decent job, this show is set in Nebraska ten years after the outbreak started and follows four teenagers inside a safe community that they have lived in their whole lives and also when they adventure out of their safe area and out to the wilderness. The community is part of the CRM which is the organization/government that took Rick Grimes, so we will learn more about them.
I'm walking into this show with an optimistic and open mind, I'm a big fan of The Walking Dead franchise so it can't hurt to try it out.
The story feel okay, so far its interesting. I will keep watching to be up to date on everything, as I love the lore. The world building is great but the overall writing is decent, a mix of good and bad, the dialogue is good though.
I don't really like the characters though, but the older ones like Felix and Huck are interesting and likeable. The teenagers aren't though but that will probably change for the better, I see the potential in the Bennett sisters. It's how they're written and not the actors as they did a good job, the Bennett sisters at least.
The cinematography is actually pretty good, but far from incredible. I like the scenery and sets though, the community feels like pre-apocalypse and the outside is overgrown like how it's supposed to look. The musical score is different than The Walking Dead and Fear, more hopeful and happy. It should be tense, suspenseful and ominous though but this is a different show though. I'm not a fan of its music but that might change when the show gets more serious, if it will get darker we will just have to wait and see.
This show isn't everyones cup of tea but if you're fan of The Walking Dead and its CRM mystery then you should check this out as you will get some answers. But it isn't really off to a great start but I got a good feeling it will get better, again I'm walking in with an open mind.
