  • Warning: Spoilers
    3 out of 5 stars.

World Beyond season premiere is a slow start. Introducing young adults and teens as they are living in a community that serves for a mysterious republic organization which has been connected to the other series. As a couple of teens father has been missing for a long time from them. They decide to leave to go searching for them.

Interesting concept with this unknown organization. I am curious to see where this series goes from here. And it is a fresh start on seeing a different perspective in this walking dead universe. Sadly, the direction and script is slow moving and dull with its characters set up. Giving a little brief backstory. The last few mins gets interesting as they leave the community.

    WHYY?
    Warning: Spoilers
Why AMC made this? Why? I wish this walker at the end of the episode bite Iris. The casting is bad, Iris is so bad and hope is average, we were waiting years just to have a high school musical version. I gave 6/10 just because it's the first episode but I don't think I'll watch again if this Iris didn't die. So bad lazy actress. WHAT if AMC focused on ONE series, and not doing spinoff here and spin-off there, the fans of the real walking dead and only walking dead we know deserves better

I loved this first episode, I'm very excited for the rest !
  • Deep on characterisation and high with production values, this new off-shoot of the zombie franchise shows promise. However, I'm not sure the adventures of teen adventurers will have the attention grabbing draw of the main series, or "Fear".

A diluted "16+" offering, I've my fingers crossed that this series builds its own fan base
  • Magnus Martens directed the series premiere of the second spin-off of The Walking Dead which is called World Beyond and he did a decent job, this show is set in Nebraska ten years after the outbreak started and follows four teenagers inside a safe community that they have lived in their whole lives and also when they adventure out of their safe area and out to the wilderness. The community is part of the CRM which is the organization/government that took Rick Grimes, so we will learn more about them. I'm walking into this show with an optimistic and open mind, I'm a big fan of The Walking Dead franchise so it can't hurt to try it out.

The story feel okay, so far its interesting. I will keep watching to be up to date on everything, as I love the lore. The world building is great but the overall writing is decent, a mix of good and bad, the dialogue is good though. I don't really like the characters though, but the older ones like Felix and Huck are interesting and likeable. The teenagers aren't though but that will probably change for the better, I see the potential in the Bennett sisters. It's how they're written and not the actors as they did a good job, the Bennett sisters at least.

The cinematography is actually pretty good, but far from incredible. I like the scenery and sets though, the community feels like pre-apocalypse and the outside is overgrown like how it's supposed to look. The musical score is different than The Walking Dead and Fear, more hopeful and happy. It should be tense, suspenseful and ominous though but this is a different show though. I'm not a fan of its music but that might change when the show gets more serious, if it will get darker we will just have to wait and see.

This show isn't everyones cup of tea but if you're fan of The Walking Dead and its CRM mystery then you should check this out as you will get some answers. But it isn't really off to a great start but I got a good feeling it will get better, again I'm walking in with an open mind.
  • Like the title says, this was mostly overly precious teens discussing teen angst. Pretty boring.

For the first episode they were introducing the characters. But sadly that did not help the show much. Weak characters in my opinion. But some of my favorite shows started out as crap so we will see.
  • I had high hopes for this series and after the really poor start (terrible characters, questionable acting skills, zero charisma) I would be very surprised if this new series lasts. I read the reviews before watching thinking it can't be that bad but they were right! So far it's terrible. The multiple repeat flashbacks are too frequent and the overall need for this spinoff to exist is pointless as it adds zero value to TWD world. TWD had a great run from start all the way through to season 6 and then nose dived (Gimbles poor decision making) and the Fear was brilliant and again the most recent season was bad (why think Morgan is such a good character that they needed to move him over! Didn't need to) so I think the whole zombie interest has dwindled and people are past it now hence why Beyond has got off to a bad start! Even the second episode of this 1st season was only slightly better than the 1st episode but only just! Will give it a few more episodes and if the characters continue to suck then it's RIP TWD world.

My 1st review. Julia Ormond steals the show IMO. It is a decade into the apocalypse now and the campus County citizens are waiting to celebrate memorial day. We then meet the characters- iris the groomed leader to be, her rebellious sister hope, with Elton, the baby face looking (but with a dark past) Nicholas Cantu and silas the apparent outcast. Their mentors huck(Annette mahendru) and Nico tortorella's Felix( of scream 4 as Trevor). Julia Ormond is a major of the cryptic civil republic military (CRM) And don't forget there's the meek connection with the TWD series. Major spoilers- Great cinematography, with some greatly designed walkers, sorry empties. The editing was good, but towards the end, where they reveal that hope was somehow responsible for her mom's death, and that she had to shoot a pregnant and desperate women as a child could have been better edited. Good performances by the cast, but not amazing. Also, great twist that Elton's mother was the mother who was killed by hope, so that's sure to stir the pot. And the last shot of CRM killing "empties" was very good and intriguing, but paired with an upbeat end credits music killed the tension in the air. Some places where the episode lacked. But overall, a good setup for the following episodes.

This feels like some kind of TV show like kids watch after school, like I used to watch Saved by the Bell back in the 90s. In other words, this literally has no sort of feel or appeal to The Walking Dead nor even Fear the Walking Dead. This is the dumbest idea I think AMC has drummed up for a series in quite some time. Im pretty sure when this season one is over it will be a flop.

Slow burner but great at setting the scene for what's to come

    Warning: Spoilers
The first episode which is supposed to be an indicator of where this show is heading towards. Well I am confused, if this is a show for teenagers or a show for TWD/Zombie fans. Not much zombie action

The narations tells me its a teenagers 'Dear Diary' type series. Which tends to be heavily centered on teenager troubles. The story is also building up towards the same I think. But I will give this series a chance as Annet Mahendru and Julia Ormond are very good actors.

    Why??
Another WD spinoff. This show will have to go further and do things we have never seen before in the WD universe. The pilot was dull and the characters are not scene stealers. Maybe the episodes will get better but for a pilot this was bad.
  • I found it slow and not so much exiting or interesting. And it's very predictable.

Sincerely I think that "The Walking Dead" have done his time. It's time to something new.

It is the Marvel Runaways equivalent to the walking dead.
  • The Elton Ortiz character alone causes this series to be unwatchable. He makes Wesley Crusher and King Joffery both seem loveable. Does anyone know if any of the writer actually watched any of this drek.

All in all this is a complete waste if time, money and credibility for anyone involved in putting this on the air.

Kill off Ortiz quick and you may last out the season.
  • I wasn't expecting much from this show, I only watched it to fill the void until The Walking Dead comes back for 11x17 but I was surprised by how intrigued I was. Will I watch the second episode? If I'm bored. Am I excited to see Jadis? Only if she mentions Rick. Am I sick of the grim spin-offs? You bet! Either way, this is a good watch for if you need your walking dead fill.
  • Very slow, horrible casting, terrible acting (main characters), weak presentation - destroying the credibility of the TWD universe. I so wanted to enjoy this and couldn't wait for it, but beyond disappointment. Stop it, restart it - with a new cast and provide a worthy cast of entertainment. Please!

I would of gave it a zero if i could. It is so boring. There is no action. They walk somewhere and then talk the rest of the episode. U might see them run from a walker at the end. I dont know who was dumb enough to put this on tv. It is so bad. And the adults over act. It is so annoying. And they are spotless and have makeup on! Watched 6 episodes and absolutely nothing has happenned
  • A great start showing who is good and bad and who were rooting for! It's quick too and doesn't drag, the group are already out of camp in episode 1. Love it

Just when you thought a TV show couldn't get any worse. Welcome to the new age where right from the very first second the show decides to get political and push SJW agendas. So we're faced with the strong, smart, overweight but confident minority woman who is referred to as "Madam President". A bunch of angsty kids at a, wait for it, UNIVERSITY! ha ha! Who would have thought, right?! Anyway, So apparently these kids managed to survive somehow and for some unknown reason the weakest links in society are the top dogs and the "Alpha" or what should be the "Alpha" is a mere lackey taking orders from some student council pencil head.

Can we get a reality check? Does anyone REALLY think this group of misfits and rejects would have survived the zombie apocalypse? REALLY? If we were being honest about what that world would REALLY look like does anyone have any doubt that the "Sons of Anarchy" would be running things and IF any of these morons managed to survive they'd be shining their boots and washing their Harley's.

I've really had quite enough of the "woke" TV show era. Can we put a lid on the "feel good" politics and get back to a gritty reality in a TV show? Wanna know why "The Sopranos" was such a groundbreaking and successful show? Go re-watch it and you'll see what TV used to be like before "wokeism". If we get a show in the WD universe on par with "The Sopranos" or "Deadwood" then we'll see success. Until then, enjoy your "Dawson's Creek with Zombies" and teenie bopper audience.
  • I find the 1 star comments here more entertaining than the show itself. This show is soooo boring. I had to fast forward it skip to scenes where there are zombie action. The zombies are better actors. What a waste.
  • Warning: Spoilers
What idiot thought this was a good idea? This is like 90210 with a few zombies and worse writing. The first 5 minutes I had hope then... not so much. Also if the situation with their dad is deteriorating that fast an 1100 mile walk to get there before winter is ridiculous. He'll be dead or free of whatever.
