  • Did someone new direct or write the last episode. There's this big reveal, and then basically goes to comic relief. There's a big build up then Disney steps in and goes rates G for the last episodes.

Starts off good, gets pretty awesome, and finishes with a beastly finale. Some of the supporting characters steal the show. And there is some major acting talent with a multiple great performances, especially by Renner.

The action is mostly well-done, as is the humor. They do a great job of juggling multiple storylines. And there is a surprising amount of emotionally powerful moments.

Oh and if one thing is for sure, the Rogers musical is one of the funniest things ever, trust a bro.

    stale
Sure its all there what you expect of a marvel series. But maybe thats a bit of the problem. More and more I begin to roll my eyes at moments that just feel forced at this point. So in the end it just felt like a bland series.

    6/10: sure, but meh.
  • First of all, I have to admit I'm a huge fan of the MCU and have enjoyed all the Marvel shows so far so I may be a little biased. I found Hawkeye to be a pretty entertaining show that's been a fantastic addition to Phase 4! I don't get some of these negative reviews though...did you not watch the trailers? Some of you are acting surprised at what you were watching. I don't get it...what were you expecting that you didn't see? If you didn't like this it's because you didn't want to. It's just such a fun ride that you can't turn away because you can't wait to see what happens next. Jeremy Renner is as terrific as always and Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh are both great additions to the MCU. I heard that they plan on doing a season every year set around Christmas and I'm all for it.

I have actually enjoyed all the Marvel shows so far and Hawkeye is no different. While it's not the best of the Marvel shows, it's not the worst either and is definitely worth watching. It's only six episodes long so you can binge the entire season pretty fast. Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh all do a fantastic job bringing this series to the MCU. With Renner getting into his tragic accident and maybe not being able to walk normal again this may be the last time we see him as Hawkeye. I hope he's able to play the character again but his health is far more important and I hope he gets better quickly. If you're a Marvel fan then give this a try, I think you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
  • Hawkeye by itself might not be at first glance a character to base a show on before so many other choices. However given a large library of comicbook stories, he definitely could be given depth and a good story woven with interesting characters.

This is not really centered around Hawkeye. It is split between too often overreacting Kate, who it sometimes seems finds people suspicious at a drop of a hat, and always tired and worn Clint. Both are very much stereotypical characters here, a semi-grumpy combat worn hero and a tag-along newbie, who marvels at him and annoys him with "witty" quips as they being finding mutual appreciation and respect. Yeah, nothing very original here in any aspect.

Neither is the story. Jack is charismatic and entertaining character played by a good actor however I think we've all seen our share of duplicitous partners and kids who notice things first.

All in all its pretty predictable and all wrapped in a politically correct and woke Disney packaging. It is not bad but neither is it great or original. It is average but I suppose also entertaining for a watch on your couch in these winter months, cuddled under a warm blanket with something to eat or drink, as it gently snows outside.
  • I don't understand how people can give this a 10 or 1. It's not incredibly but it's not horrifically bad either.

There's a somewhat compelling story, meh dialogue, weak action sequences with some fun moments overall.

Will be curious to see how it progresses.
  • All the reviews that are 1 or 2 out of 10 are a little overboard in my opinion. Half of them clearly only watched the first 20 minutes of the first episode. I personally believe that Hawkeye delivers exactly what it promises. So many seem to believe that every MCU show or movie has to be at the scale and quality of Endgame now. One review claims that Hawkeye is barely in the show, this is untrue as that just pertains to the first half of the first episode. Another claims that that Kate Bishop should not be skilled in combat or archery but there is an in show explanation for these things. Sometimes I wish that people would actually watch things before they rate them extremely low. I'm not claiming that this is the best MCU show that there is, but I do believe it is definitely not the worst one. To me this show is very refreshing in a time of multiverses colliding and externals protecting the world from universal gods. It has a very simple down to earth approach that reminds us what marvel is about. Not every hero has to spend every day saving the entirety of the universe. Sometimes it's nice to see a hero take on a small group of villains in just one city. I really don't understand how you can hate something that you seen 1/6th of. If you are hesitant about this series because of the negative reviews, don't be. I honestly believe this show is one of the better ones on Disney plus as far as Marvel goes. It reminds me of the pacing and story style of one of the Netflix marvel shows, just not as dark and gritty. As I mentioned before its actually pretty refreshing to watch a marvel story that is of a smaller scale and a bit more lite hearted.
  • I'll say it. This would've been a way better story about Hawkeye in Tijuana post snap. But instead it's not. It's a Christmas themed out with the old in with the new. As far as the two episodes. Im sorry, but the writing is terrible, which makes the dialogue forced. Hawkeye is ok, but you can tell he spent his acting tokens on mayor of Kingstown. Other than that, it seems like MC's version of Sabrina the witch(nothing wrong with that) It's only the second episode. So yes. It could get better. But wow. What a waste of time. . And I swear, guy or girl, these 1 on 9 fights are just ridiculous at this point. They're both like 5'8 and not thor or cap.
  • I started out thinking this was a bit overdone and uninteresting, and geared toward a younger (teen) crowd, but it had just enough to keep me interested and watching when time allowed - mostly due to the dog 😉. Thankfully, not only has it steadily remained mostly entertaining, but it has consistently and continuously IMPROVED, with Episodes 3 & 4 being particularly funny, well done and simply top-notch ESPECIALLY due to the addition/inclusion/introduction of Maya Lopez.

WandaVision was uninteresting to me; Loki a disappointment after the first one or two episodes; and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was simply unwatchable. I am SO glad I stuck with Hawkeye and hope it loses none of its humor or heart.
  • Hawkeyes got nothing but a bad rap for being boring and just a human for almost 10 years on the MCU, we'll finally his own show brings him into his own, it's early days but it's a more grounded comedy-drama with 'hopefully' some good action to come. It looks great, the setting snd characters are immediately familiar and 'Rogers' the Musical needs developing further. 10 out of 10? No chance, 1 out of 10? Grow up and stop trolling.

    Fun
    Just finished the first two episodes (I seriously dislike episodic releases, I will probably wait until the whole season drops before I watch the rest). Initial impressions - interesting characters, great chemistry between Clint and Kate (they are perfect foils for each other), great fight scenes (they've given Kate the Black Widow's signature move). Lots of action. Lots of fun. Love the dog. Based on the first two episodes, I'm giving this series an 8 (great) out of 10. {Superhero Action Adventure}

    Warning: Spoilers
Episode 1-5 provided a solid entertaining show. Coming off of watching daredevil this show gives a horrific ending to kingpin, a major player and incredible villain from the comics, thrown away within 10 minutes by some B grade undeveloped mini-villain and a ridiculous fight sequence between him and the main protagonist. The treatment of his character alone ruined this show for me, the amount of effort put in by the writers of daredevil, years of work just thrown away. Watch the last episode of daredevil from the 34:00 minute mark and then tell me otherwise.

    Review By Kamal K

It feels like wasted potential. More like a series just to introduce Kate Bishop and Maya Lopez and a further introduction to Yelena.

It could've been so sooo much better. I'm really, really sad that the show's creators made it like a comedy rather than dark serious show. Even Fisk was treated as a joke here. You should check out Daredevil series to experience the actual terror of Fisk and then compare it with the Fisk in this show. You'll then understand my point.

Regardless, Happy to have a series based on Clint Barton. Could've been better but it's not.

This has been really fun so far. I was not a fan of Renner or Steinfeld, but they are winning me over. All of the Marvel shows have been able to draw me in, whether I was looking forward to them or not. What I'm waiting to see is if this is one that will be worth watching back again. But I definitely want to see how it all turns out out, and I am very interested in where Kate and Yelena go from here.
  • I watched this not expecting much, cause the Hawkeye character is awesome, but not expecting much from him having his own mini series. But after watching the first episode, I'm eager to see what comes next.

Action scenes are well shot, fight scenes also. Hallie Steinfield as Kate, showing her trying to be a superhero, cause it's her big dream. Jeremy Renner is also good as Clint Barton who is world weary of being an avenger, and wants to settle on family life, but finds he might be pulled back in. I can't wait to see what's more to come.

In order to enjoy this show you quite possibly need two requirements: 1. Suspend all disbelief of physics, 2. Hate all men to the point where you think they're useless and weak.

You're led to believe that a well trained person without any super abilities (no powers, no strength, nothing) can use her 120lb model body to take down not 1 but 5 well trained 200lb men like Wonder Woman. Fine, I can deal with this for a brief second.

Then you're led through countless pointless scenes repeating the above with or without injury.

I mean I always had issues with Hawkeye standing toe to toe with Ironman and others with simply a bow and set of arrows. Dude never seemed to get ruined when even aliens and gods could barely do the job. But hey, this time around a tiny model can keep up. Guess what girls, if she can do it so can you!

Watched everything I can deal with... try again.
  • On the first 2 episodes there's noticeable ADR (counted at least 4), visible editing cuts and patchwork on scene transitions and action (Hailee grunts way too much). Setting my expectations..

As it develops.. it is a bit slow paced and with bits that feel like filler. The dialogue is lacking and the action scenes are predictable at times, but generally good! Though nothing worth re-watching. Convenient situations and a weird tone are very apparent. The character of Kate is a tad annoying and childish.. I expected someone more serious and mature for the role, considering her shown situation.

On the other hand, has great production values (although it still "feels" TV), and a few moments here and there. Interesting characters being used for "villains" (Jack Duquesne being a standout) and ideas that tingle the mind but aren't cooked as they should.

Being set on Xmas is a plus for me, and the character of Hawkeye being visibly tired (and going deaf?), shows interesting and real time lapse for the franchise. Though Jeremy barely delivers.

Sadly, the first 2 episodes lowered my expectations by quite a margin. As it went on, it had good peaks, but the end.. deflating. It's not the super-hero-world Home-Alone content I thought it would be. The conclusion doesn't feel grand enough or interesting to make a show out of it. Specially disappointed about a couple of hyped reveals (a villain better left untouched, and a suit).

It was decent in the middle.. and I already forgot all about it.
  • I've always wanted to have a point of view of someone that was bliped and resurrected. This series does an amazing job at showcasing Yelena's resurrection and her confusion as she does not know what to do anymore. Yelena's sense of humor is one of the reason I loved Black Widow and I'm so glad they pursued that personality in this series.

Kate Bishop is an interesting character in the MCU with a lot of storytelling possibilities. Honestly I didn't mind her introduction in this very joyful themed series, but it would've been great to have some seriousness as she shot and possibly killed people at her age. I'm saying this on a character standpoint, as the actor Hailee Steinfeld does an amazing job portraying her.

There's a lot of negative reviews right here because of the comedic themed direction of the series, but I'd rather have this casual feel to the series instead of a dark soul crushing theme to the series. Decide for yourself!
  • Warning: Spoilers
Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) was a little girl in New York City when the 2012 alien invasion happened. She lost her father and was saved by Hawkeye/Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner). She has been inspired to follow him in his footsteps ever since. In present day Christmas, Kate does not like her mother Eleanor Bishop (Vera Farmiga)'s new boyfriend, Jack Duquesne. She follows him to an underground illicit auction leading to a meeting with her hero.

Hawkeye is the underpowered member of the Avengers. As such, he is the butt of jokes sometimes and is often ignored. He can be seen as a second tier character in the cinematic franchise. That is why it's important for him to get some gravitas out of his own show. Instead, the powers-that-be use him to headline a Christmas thriller with bits of light comedy. I think it's the wrong way to go. I would prefer something much darker but I don't run anything. It's their toy and I'm just watching them play with it. As it stand, Renner is a good actor. Steinfeld is surprisingly funny sometimes. She finds a fun comedic partner in Florence Pugh. Sadly, I don't think that Hawkeye will elevate higher than his second tier status. This seems to be a limited series. There are spinoff possibilities. This is nice with some fun.
  • I really enjoyed the first two episodes of Hawkeye. A standout point for me would have to be the whole Christmas vibe, it just adds a sense of humility to the whole thing. The light action and warm comedy blend perfectly together and the reluctant partnership between Clint Barton and Kate Bishop is one of the MCU's finest to date. I can't wait for the next 4 episodes, this series is shaping up to be Marvel's greatest effort yet!
  • 8.2 rating. I truly don't understand why people would rate it that high. Atm it even has a higher score than wandavision, a truly amazing amazing show. Just How?!
  • I've seen the first two episodes. Every one of the criticisms one one of the viewers shows he missed the exhibition of ALL of Kate's skills. The series has great footing, timing, background and proper pacing. Good luck. I'm looking forward to the next episodes!

This series is light and action packed, it's great for kids, but I'm finding the plot too light and have moments of boredom and that wish something would happen.

It has a quirky appeal and the action scenes are very slick, but it's not a show that I'm waiting to appear each week, due to the thin story it's not building that level of interest.
  • Marvel needs to understand it's audience isn't dumb, this series feels like a college student was given way too much money to submit a series project.

    Wasted potential of good actors.

Wasted story building where it could've added more to THE continuity.

The Big guy here is such a weak version of the character that it's almost a tragedy.

Honestly, the series has no stakes and has no consistent tone.

You'll forget this series existed in a month or two at most.
