What If...?'s third and final season received a mixed response from fans and didn't exactly conclude the animated series in a way that left people wanting more.
Interestingly, we did get a last-minute sequence showcasing all manner of Variants that failed to make the cut. Among them were a Maestro-like Hulk, Thanos-erine (the Mad Titan x Wolverine), an Ironheart Punisher, a samurai Ghost Rider, and six-armed Spider-Man.
The latter two are highlighted in newly released concept art shared by Joey Vazquez on X.
Spider-Man is complicated given the character's ties to Sony Pictures (it still feels like a miracle that we even got to see Peter Parker in What If...? season 1's "Marvel Zombies" episode). Why didn't this badass Ghost Rider make the cut? After all, we know the rights to the anti-hero returned to Marvel Studios several years ago.

On paper, the Marvel Studios animated series What If...? seems like one of the bigger risks taken since the Infinity Saga wrapped up back in 2018, but somehow what could have been a majorly unique and beloved homerun for the multiverse managed to deliver more misses than otherwise with an ultimately overall disappointing series being delivered to fans on the House of Mouse's streaming juggernaut. The best fans can hope for is that the massive multiversal misstep on the part of Team Feige manages to accidentally deliver a few chance nuggets of golden animated storytelling in the way a broken clock could even be right twice a day.
There are multiple reasons that What If...?'s quality being as lacking as it is might be bad for business and the future of the interconnected comics-based universes. For one, it's more unlikely than so that the future projects in animation from...

The social media embargo for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has lifted and, if these early reactions are any indication, Marvel Animation has delivered a win more in line with X-Men '97 than What If...? season 3.
Following Spider-Man: The Animated Series and The Spectacular Spider-Man was always going to be a big ask for the show. However, it sounds like a worthy successor to those, primarily because it respects the source material.
The visuals and performances are also praised, with several critics left desperate for a second season. The widely touted theme song also promises to be a treat for Spidey fans.
Critics were provided with all 10 episodes of the Disney+ series ahead of its January 29 premiere, meaning these social media verdicts are based on the entirety of the season. The review embargo lifts on 1/29 at 12am Pt/3am Et.

Anticipation is building for the X-Men's arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The legendary mutants have been an integral part of comic book history for decades, and they made the jump to the big screen in 2000 with 20th Century Fox's game-changing movie series that ran for almost two decades. But now, they are slowly making their way to the biggest movie franchise of all time.
Marvel Studios is actively developing an X-Men movie in the MCU. It's expected to arrive in movie theaters in either 2028 or shortly after it, as the franchise's new chapter will have begun at that stage. The two upcoming Avengers movies will close out the Multiverse Saga, but that saga has also been imperative in opening the door for the X-Men's arrival, particularly due to the return of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

The wall-crawler is almost back. On Jan. 29, 2025, a new version of Peter Parker will swing onto the small screen courtesy of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man — an animated series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's multiverse and streaming on Disney+. Audiences worldwide will see the timid teenager from Queens discover his newfound powers, craft his own costume, team up with Doctor Strange and Daredevil, and maybe even battle the Kingpin.
In a time when Tom Holland's Spider-Man is too busy fixing the multiverse, it's nice to have another iteration of the character going back to the streets and starring in a grounded storyline. All the pieces are in place for a memorable adventure to come our way, and we can't wait to watch how it all unfolds.

Daredevil: Born Again is already a record-breaker for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the anticipated series can continue that in the near future. Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock is one of Marvel's most beloved live-action heroes ever. After a creative overhaul, Daredevil: Born Again's story and tone will be much closer to that of the original Netflix series that starred Cox as the blind vigilante. Since Daredevil is still one of Marvel's best series, if not the best, to this day, it was great news.
After a long wait, Marvel Studios finally released the first trailer for Daredevil: Born Again. The footage teased how Kingpin and Daredevil's paths cross yet again, with exciting character returns — Bullseye, the Punisher, and more — and plenty of brutal action like the Netflix show. Daredevil: Born Again's trailer has convinced me that Marvel must make a follow-up to Moon Knight. It has been almost three years since Moon Knight season 1's ending, and the character has failed to appear in any MCU project save for What If...? season 3. Despite intriguing teases about his future, the Ancient Egyptian-inclined character has been left in limbo, as audiences wait patiently for any news about Moon Knight season 2. Until then, other vigilantes are taking his place at the forefront of Marvel's upcoming TV shows.
One such vigilante is the Man Without Fear himself, with the trailer for Daredevil: Born Again outlining the character's full official return to the MCU. The trailer confirmed the show as a continuation of Netflix's Daredevil, complete with returning cast members and a level of violence that is unlike anything else in the MCU. Thanks to her roles in Quentin Tarantino films like Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, Uma Thurman is nothing short of a Hollywood icon. She's also no stranger to either blockbuster fare or comic book movies after playing the sultry Poison Ivy in 1997's Batman & Robin.
Could a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe be next? According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, Thurman has had talks with Marvel Studios for an MCU role.
There's no word on who the studio is eyeing her for, but with Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, and the Mutant Saga on the horizon, there are any number of iconic characters Thurman could bring to life on screen.
Talking of possible MCU castings, much has been said this week about the new T'Challa/Black Panther. While a few names have already done the rounds online, we can remove one possible contender from the list: Damson Idris.

Marvel Studios may soon recast T'Challa's Black Panther in the MCU, and this new version of the iconic Wakandan hero could appear as soon as 2025's The Fantastic Four: First Steps. T'Challa made his first appearance in the MCU back in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman. Boseman's tragic and sudden passing in 2020 spurred Ryan Coogler to also write T'Challa out of 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and while Letitia Wright's Shuri stepped up as the new Black Panther, recent reports suggest T'Challa may be returning.
Chadwick Boseman appeared in four live-action feature films as T'Challa's Black Panther, had a posthumous cameo in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and also posthumously loaned his voice to four episodes of What If...?. Many wanted T'Challa to be recast following Boseman's passing, but Marvel instead elected to kill off the Black Panther, leaving a huge void in the MCU.

Warning! Spoilers for What If...? Galactus Transformed Hulk? #1
The Hulk is getting ready to battle Galactus, and I have a feeling he won't be fighting alone. Bruce Banner's intimidating alter ego is one of Marvel's most fearsome fighters around, and thanks to the Power Cosmic, he's officially become strong enough to face Galactus. Still, even Hulk can't eliminate this destructive god on his own, so I predict he will form a new team for that very purpose.
In What If...? Galactus Transformed Hulk? #1 by Mat Groom, Lan Medina, Juancho Velez, and Travis Lanham, the Hulk is appointed as Galactus' latest herald. He ends up abandoning his duties before long, though, and the story ends as he charges after Galactus in a fit of rage.
The Hulk's status as Galactus' most gentle herald does not mean he isn't prepared to fight, but he'll need all the help he can get.

Marvel Studios may have finally teased the answer to a seven-year-old MCU mystery in What If...? season 3, which could have major implications for the upcoming Ironheart series. While previous seasons of Marvel Animation's What If...? included only heroes who had already appeared in the McU's live-action projects, What If...? season 3 marked the debut of several characters who hadn't yet appeared in the MCU. One of these new additions perfectly sets the stage for an upcoming MCU series, and could have also solved an annoying Phase 3 mystery.
Among some of the new additions to the MCU in What If...? season 3, the most recent chapter of the animated Multiverse Saga series also featured a number of returning characters. This saw What If...? introduce variants of Sam Wilson's Captain America, Agatha Harkness, Riri Williams' Ironheart, Shang-Chi and Kate Bishop, among others. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is coming to Disney+ in January 2025, but before the series hits the streaming service, fans can read up on Spider-Man's origin story in the prequel comic series of the same name from Marvel Comics – and, in the process, learn what the famous "friendly" moniker actually means to Peter Parker.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (2024) #2 – written by Christos Gage, with art by Eric Gapstur – finds Peter Parker enters the wrestling ring against a classic Spider-Man rival, Crusher Hogan. Trip, the fight announcer, introduces Peter as Spider-Man, but Peter recalls telling Trip to call him "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" instead, since most people are afraid of spiders, and he wants to soften the word "spider" by sounding more approachable and local.
However, Trip leaving out the "your friendly neighborhood" part leads Peter to getting his classic superhero name, Spider-Man.

Michael B. Jordan has a Marvel superhero he has been dreaming of playing since he was a child, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe has now made that casting possible seven years after his debut in the franchise. Jordan is no stranger to superhero films. He has played two Marvel characters in the past. First, the actor gave life to Johnny Storm in 2015's ill-received Fantastic Four. After that, Jordan found success as Killmonger in Black Panther, being a key element of one of the McU's best movies.
Michael B. Jordan has appeared in Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and the animated What If...? series as Erik Killmonger, playing both the original version of the villain — alive and as a spirit — and different multiverse variants of the character. Marvel Animation's What If...? series has finally redeemed the most disappointing and awkward mistake from 2019's Avengers: Endgame. The Russo brothers' Avengers: Endgame is widely regarded to be the pinnacle of the MCU, rounding off over a decade of storytelling as the penultimate movie of the Infinity Saga. However, this doesn't mean the Phase 3 crossover event wasn't without its issues, and one moment in particular has persisted as one of the most cringe-worthy moments in the McU's history.
Avengers: Endgame marked the conclusion of the Avengers' battle against Josh Brolin's Mad Titan, Thanos, culminating in the dramatic Battle of Earth. This brought together the majority of the heroes in the MCU for the first time, allowing some unexpected partnerships and teams to form on the battlefield, but one didn't have the impact Marvel hoped. We've ventured into a brand new year which means we get to look forward to a multitude of new titles from our favorite studios. After Recent T’Challa Recasting Reports, I’m Worried About The Future Of The MCU’s New Black Panther

New reports suggest T'Challa's Black Panther will be recast in the MCU, but this news has me worried about Shuri. The late Chadwick Boseman first brought T'Challa into the MCU in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, and was set up to be one of the central characters in the MCU for years to come. Unfortunately, Boseman's sudden 2020 passing made this impossible, but we saw a new Black Panther take his place in 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I loved seeing Letitia Wright's Shuri step up, but I'm now worried about her future in the MCU.
T'Challa is one of Marvel Comics' most notable and powerful superheroes, so it was a shame we didn't get to see some of his best stories come to life in the MCU. Marvel may soon have this opportunity, however, as a recent report by insider Jeff Sneider suggests that "the door is firmly open...

In the six years since Avengers: Endgame marked Thanos' defeat, Marvel Animation's What If...? series has, time and again, proved just how weak the Mad Titan really is in the MCU, which has massively discredited the Avengers. Thanos made his mark on the MCU as the most infamous intergalactic warlord of the Infinity Saga and the adoptive father of Guardians of the Galaxy's Gamora and Nebula. While Thanos hasn't officially returned to the MCU, the Mad Titan has made frequent appearances in the Multiverse Saga, but these have just delivered insult after insult.

Marvel Studios just used What If...? season 3 to quietly hint at how an iconic MCU villain who hasn't been seen in nine years can now return to once again battle Doctor Strange. Over the course of its three-season run, Marvel Animation's What If...? reinvented some of the McU's most iconic and powerful characters as the series explored a wide variety of alternate universes. What If...? season 3 may have wrapped up the story, but the series' final chapter also teased some wild new stories for the live-action MCU.
What If...? season 3 was arguably the weirdest chapter of the animated series yet, concluding the popular Multiverse Saga series with a bang. Deadpool returned to the MCU in What If...? season 3, and the appearance of a new variant of the Merc with a Mouth has me convinced that Marvel Studios will continue to do him justice. Ryan Reynolds is one of my favorite actors, but none of his roles please me more than Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, as it seems he was born to play this violent, hilarious and fourth wall-breaking antihero. Deadpool made the move from 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise to the MCU in 2024, and I reckon this will only become more enjoyable.
Ryan Reynolds first appeared as Wade Wilson in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but reinvented the character to be more comic-accurate in 2016's Deadpool and its 2018 sequel. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a genuine gift to comic book fans, bringing to life some of the most beloved Marvel Comics characters of all time. When you really think about it, it's probably easier to count the major characters who haven't made their MCU debut as of yet than it is to count the ones who have, as the franchise has turned the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor, the Incredible Hulk, Nick Fury, Scarlet Witch, Falcon and the Winter Soldier into even bigger stars than they already were.

While the Hulk is undeniably one of Marvel's most fascinating characters - and a core part of the original MCU Avengers team - it's also hard to ignore the ways the character has been put to the backburner on-screen over the years. As such, the MCU timeline has seen the Hulk stagnate somewhat, with fans frequently calling for the character to get more adaptations of his comic storylines.
However, there have been signs of a light at the end of the tunnel in this regard, as teases like Banner being a part of the remaining MCU heroes still in contact to protect the world in the ending of Shang-Chi and The Legend Of The Ten...

Marvel Studios just made me think that one power upgrade from Marvel Comics I never expected to be seen in the MCU could actually happen in Captain America: Brave New World. Brave New World will mark Anthony Mackie's theatrical debut as Sam Wilson's Captain America, but he won't be the only new hero suiting up in the Phase 5 sequel. 2021's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series introduced us to Danny Ramirez's Joaquín Torres, who die-hard Marvel Comics fans will know as Sam Wilson's successor as the Falcon.
Several bird-themed heroes have been introduced to the MCU over the years, including the likes of Sam Wilson's Falcon, Adrian Toomes' Vulture and Clint Barton's Hawkeye. Joaquín Torres will suit up as the new Falcon in Captain America: Brave New World, but one recent bird-themed hero makes me think his future in the MCU will be far more unusual than his predecessor's.

Marvel Studios' recent What If...? season 3 has followed in the footsteps of 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine by proving exactly what formula works best for the MCU, and this should be repeated in the franchise's upcoming projects. Comprising eight episodes released daily over 2024's Holiday period, What If...? season 3 marked the final chapter of the animated Multiverse Saga series. Season 3 may have had a bigger impact on the wider MCU than its predecessors, and could have even given Marvel Studios a new way of delivering its most-anticipated upcoming stories.
What If...? season 3 was perhaps the wildest installment of the animated series, introducing characters such as the Celestial Agatha Harkness, Darcy Lewis and Howard the Duck's hybrid daughter, the Mech Avengers, a Vision-empowered Riri Williams and an all-powerful yet heroic Infinity Ultron. However, these characters seldom embarked on their adventures alone, and this, alongside Deadpool & Wolverine, could have set a new theme for the MCU.

In a major upgrade, the Hulk just unlocked a range of new powers - as well as an uncharacteristic silver sheen. In the past, Hulk fans have met grey Hulks, red Hulks and even blue Hulks, but they've never seen a Silver Hulk before. That's a good thing, because it's unlikely the universe could survive two of them. Here's everything we know about the powers and origin of this new Hulk.
The Silver Hulk Commands the Power Cosmic Galactus Turned Hulk into the New Silver Surfer
The Silver Hulk debuts in What If...? Galactus Transformed Hulk #1 from Mat Groom, Lan Medina, Juancho Veléz and Travis Lanham. The comic reveals that this Hulk exists in a timeline where Galactus came to Bruce Banner, recruiting the genius scientist as his herald. Eight years after a strange part of the Stark family's history was introduced into live-action, Marvel Studios' What If...? has finally made it officially canon to the MCU. What If...? season 3 explored some of the weirdest realities that the Multiverse Saga series ever has, and debuted characters such as the Mech Avengers, Darcy Lewis and Howard the Duck's hybrid daughter and 1872's Shang-Chi and Kate Bishop. One episode of What If...? season 3, however, while detailing a cosmic Celestial-sized story, also brought something first seen in the Agent Carter series into the MCU proper.
Seeing Agatha Harkness assume the power of the Celestials wasn't the only interesting thing about What If...? season 3, episode 2, "What If... Agatha Went to Hollywood?" In fact, What If...? might have just brought Marvel Television's Agent Carter series one step closer to being made canon to the McU's main continuity of Earth-616, similarly to how Netflix...

Iron Man was the character who started it all in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and while he is often quoted, there are several more lines from the character that go underappreciated. Tony Stark may have begun his time in the MCU as an egotistical, eccentric billionaire, but he quickly changed his tune after a life-altering experience where he was kidnapped by men wielding his own weapons. The weapons manufacturer then resolved to use his incredible intelligence for the good of others, instead of making weapons of mass destruction.
As Iron Man, Stark became one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, defending the planet from extraterrestrial invasions and global threats. He also served as a leader and mentor, helping others on the team to see their full potential, and providing the means and opportunities to become heroes themselves. Warning! This article contains spoilers about What If...? Season 3.
What If...? is a unique Marvel project to come out of the Multiverse Saga, but after season 3, the show's fate and future hang in the balance. After the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) set its sights on expanding the universe beyond the big screen. In response, shows like WandaVision and Loki landed on Disney+, and gave familiar characters the opportunity to have their stories explored in more detail. However, What If...? did something very different.
Rather than focus on a core character, the show's status as an anthology series meant that it could use almost any character, including a few new and original heroes, to tell a story. The show also delved into experimental storylines that could only be given the space and freedom to thrive in an animated TV format, which truly dived into the Multiverse.

Marvel Studios' What If...? season 3 just reminded audiences of a controversial Phase 4 villain twist involving Sharon Carter. Emily VanCamp first appeared in the MCU as Sharon Carter, the niece of Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter, back in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. After Civil War introduced an awkward romantic connection between Sharon Carter and Steve Rogers, whose long-lost love was Sharon's aunt, the former Shield agent mysteriously disappeared from the MCU, but returned with a twist in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier revealed that, after becoming a fugitive by aiding Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson in Civil War, Sharon Carter relocated to Madripoor and became an art and antiquities dealer. More than that, however, Sharon Carter was also outed as the villainous and power-hungry Power Broker, a surprising twist that many found disappointing and confusing. Following What If...? season 3, Marvel Studios now has six different versions of the Iron Fist in the MCU, even though Finn Jones' low-rated version of the iconic Marvel hero doesn't yet have a confirmed future in live-action. What If...? season 3 put weird and wonderful spins on some of the McU's best-loved characters, including Bucky Barnes' Winter Soldier, Agatha Harkness, Bruce Banner's Hulk and Shang-Chi. The latter appeared in What If...? season 3, episode 6, "What If... 1872?," and starred alongside a surprising new addition to the MCU.

Several alternate Avengers teams have been introduced to the MCU in the animated What If...? series, and any number of them could now make the move to live-action in Phase 6. Netflix recently added a handful of notable movie titles to their streaming catalog, including two Chris Hemsworth titles that are already trending. As a way to say goodbye to 2024 while welcoming in the new year, the streamer debuted titles such as Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and Dune: Part Two. In fact, Netflix also acquired 2023's highest-grossing movie with Barbie. With a number of massively popular shows returning in 2025, Netflix thrives on recent blockbusters and older movies starring notable names that may have been missed upon initial release.

Hulk's Apex form from What If...? season 3 episode 1 marks the first time an alternate Hulk personality appears in the MCU. Since his introduction in 2008, the McU's Hulk has only starred in one movie, The Incredible Hulk. Since then, Hulk's MCU story has covered major milestones like his time as an Avenger, his exile in space, and the birth of a Hulk-Banner fusion called Smart Hulk. However, the MCU continues to sideline Bruce Banner and his Gamma-powered alter ego well into the Multiverse Saga.
In 2025, Captain America: Brave New World is set to bring back two of Hulk's biggest enemies: Red Hulk and the Leader. Captain America will go face-to-face against a raging Red Hulk, and he will try to stop the Leader's conspiracy to destabilize world governments. Smart Hulk seems to be completely unaware of his enemies' whereabouts, but their public appearances might motivate him to fight them in a future movie.

I still remember when the news that Disney had bought Marvel broke. Fans, primarily fanboys, all over the world cried out in terror that this meant their cherished superheroes would suddenly become (more) family-friendly, because "Disney" means joy and princesses to many people.
Of course, that didn't exactly happen, and those same fanboys mostly love the Disney distributed Marvel movies that came after: "The Avengers," "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Black Panther," etc.
Now, though, the latest "What If...?" revives those old Marvel fanboys' fears. The issue has a self-explanatory title: "Marvel & Disney: What If...? Mickey & Friends Became the Fantastic Four" #1, and Marvel has shared a preview of the comic with /Film. The issue's synopsis reads as follows:
"Your Favorite Disney Characters As Marvel's First Family! Mickey has stretching powers! Minnie can turn invisible! Goofy can burst into flame! Donald has become some kind of rocky... Thing! With these incredible powers,...

The MCU Just Made Hulk's Return In 2025 Far More Urgent Despite Marvel Ignoring The Best Opportunity

Marvel Studios' best chance to bring Bruce Banner's Hulk back to the MCU was just revealed in What If...? season 3, but 2025's upcoming Captain America: Brave New World might be missing the boat. Bruce Banner has been central to the MCU since his debut in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, and Mark Ruffalo has taken the Hulk to new heights, culminating in him becoming Smart Hulk in Avengers: Endgame. In the Multiverse Saga, the Hulk is still incredibly important, which makes it even more confusing that Marvel Studios seems to have sidelined the original Avenger.
Following his evolution into the Smart Hulk, Mark Ruffalo has appeared as Bruce Banner in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. He has also been pivotal in the development of Marvel Animation's What If...? series, appearing in multiple episodes of all three seasons of the multiversal show.

What If...? season 3 just introduced three overpowered Marvel characters that cannot return for Avengers: Secret Wars. What If...? season 3's ending told an intriguing story tied to the character of Uatu, otherwise known as The Watcher. Aside from What If...?'s massive multiverse cameos, the finale of the show saw Uatu teaming up with several characters from the show's past to defeat the Eminence, the leader of the Watcher Order, who is seeking to punish Uatu for his repeated interferences throughout the MCU multiverse.
This made for one of the best-ranked episodes of What If...? season 3. Not only did it conclude Uatu's story in the MCU - for now, at least - but it also included some great action, primarily due to the powers of the characters involved. Marvel Studios has introduced some of the most powerful characters in the history of the MCU in the animated What If...? series. What If...? has been and gone and, judging by the reaction to the final season, there won't be many fans clamouring for Marvel Animation to continue exploring the Multiverse.
One of the biggest points of contention has been the show's shift from exploring alternate realities to essentially asking, "What if this character was that one instead?" A final montage as the series ends is exactly that - Thanos with Wolverine claws! - but there's one Vartiant, in particular, who has grabbed everyone's attention.
That's a version of Deadpool who appears to have countless weapons strapped to his back; the prevailing theory is that this could be the Merc with the Mouth from the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe reality.
We don't anticipate the storyline ever being adapted by Marvel Studios (unfortunately) but what an episode this could've made. Still, who wants to see Deadpool taking out The Avengers one-by-one when...

Warning! This post contains Spoilers for What If...? Season 3Ironheart's multiple delays have just become even weirder for the MCU at the end of 2024. Originally debuting in 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ahead of her solo series, Riri Williams' Ironheart (Dominique Thorne) is a young and gifted engineer who creates her very own suit of armor, inspired by Tony Stark's Iron Man. However, the delays of said solo series have created some brand-new strangeness for the MCU.
In 2022's Wakanda Forever, Riri becomes the center of a major conflict between Wakanda and Namor's underwater city of Talokan after she creates a device capable of detecting vibranium. Helping the Wakandans who protected her from Namor, Riri built an impressive suit of armor using Wakandan technology based on her original prototype suit, though she was unable to take it with her back to MIT at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Back when Marvel Studios kicked off the Multiverse Saga with a host of Disney Plus TV shows, it also asked us to do something: To ponder the question of "What if...?", imagining various scenarios in which the Marvel Cinematic Universe could have panned out quite differently if some changes - small and large - were applied.
Marvel's What If...? was the first ever animated series that the studio produced and it feature some returnees from the MCU to voice their respective characters here as the show turned everything we thought we knew about the franchise on its head. Even though Marvel Studios is still refusing to make Agents of Shield canon to the MCU, What If...? season 3 just reimagined one of the popular ABC series' most game-changing storylines that began back in December 2017. Marvel's 2024 movie and TV productions offer a glimpse into the McU's future. Some of these delays were due to Marvel Studios' output decrease at the beginning of 2024, while others needed a little more work than expected. Regardless, while the McU's pace slowed down dramatically, 2024 was a generally successful year for the franchise in comparison to previous years.
The McU's 2024 slate opened with the Marvel Spotlight show Echo and the animated series X-Men '97, which gathered a dedicated fanbase and raised expectations for similar long-form stories in the future. Deadpool & Wolverine certainly was...

Earlier this year, we got word that Marvel Studios/Disney had fired X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo shortly before the animated revival show's world premiere.
Since then, the internet has been rife with rumors and speculation about what might have led to DeMayo's dismissal, and Marvel finally released a statement on the matter in August.
"Mr. DeMayo was terminated in March 2024 following an internal investigation. Given the egregious nature of the findings, we severed ties with him immediately and he has no further affiliation with Marvel."
Though there are some conflicting reports on what exactly occurred, DeMayo is said to have been terminated for sending lewd photos to members of his staff, and there have been further allegations claiming that he was physically and sexually inappropriate with several of his colleagues.
DeMayo has always denied this, suggesting that his firing was simply due to homophobia, and claiming that he was...

In its first minute, What If...? season 3 showed how perfect the MCU series could have been, and solved a major criticism aimed at the multiversal Marvel Animation show. What If...? season 3 kicked off on December 22, and its eight-episode run was the final chapter for the animated series that explores alternate storylines and variant characters from across the McU's multiverse. Season 3 is What If...?'s most boundary-pushing installment yet, and it did something no previous season had done in its premiere's opening moments.
What If...? season 3's premiere, "What If... the Hulk Fought the Mech Avengers?," saw a new Avengers team kitted out with huge mechanical suits of armor that were designed by Tony Stark's Iron Man after Bruce Banner accidentally created a legion of giant Hulk monsters. Inspired by elements of anime, Godzilla stories and Power Rangers narratives, What If...? season 3's premiere was a wild adventure. This inspiration,...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for What If...? season 3, episode 8, "What If... What If?"
Following the finale of What If...? season 3, there are now two Wolverine variants in the MCU that I would love to see return more than Hugh Jackman's original clawed X-Men hero. What If...?'s three seasons introduced a plethora of wild variants to the MCU, though I still reckon the animated series only scratched the surface of what the multiverse has to offer. The final moments of What If...? season 3, episode 8, "What If... What If?," provided a glimpse of what we could have had, and introduced another Wolverine variant.
James "Logan" Howlett's Wolverine is one of the most iconic and beloved members of Marvel Comics' X-Men, and he became even more prevalent when Hugh Jackman brought the mutant into live-action in 2000's X-Men. Ever since Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox was finalized in 2019, I've...
