Where to Watch Shotgun Wedding
Image
Are you ready for a Shotgun Wedding and wondering where to watch the new Jennifer Lopez flick? Don’t get too comfortable — and you can leave the box of happy-tears tissues aside — because this romance movie may start out traditional but quickly turns more Rambo than rom-com.

Perfectly paired with Josh Duhamel and clashing with a new “monster” mother-in-law played by quirky-character favorite, Jennifer Coolidge, J-Lo shines brighter than ever in 2023. This is one destination wedding destined to go down in history.

If there’s anything to love more about Jennifer Lopez than her music, her style, and her epic, real-life love stories, it’s her performances in some of our favorite romantic comedies. Who can pass up a chance to pour a glass of wine and sit down to another viewing of Maid in Manhattan, The Wedding Planner, or the more recent, Marry Me, which paired her with the hilarious Owen Wilson?

How to Watch Shotgun Wedding Starring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel
Image
From The Wedding Planner (2001) to Marry Me (2022), Jennifer Lopez has become the master of wedding-based comedies. Shotgun Wedding (2023) sees Lopez star as Darcy, as she and her fiancé, Tom (Josh Duhamel), embark on a luxurious island holiday for their dream wedding. Despite some speedbumps like having to deal with her clingy but well-intentioned future mother-in-law, Carol (Jennifer Coolidge), as well as her suave and handsome ex, Sean (Lenny Kravitz), there is nothing that can come in the way of Darcy and Tom's perfect day. That is until all of their wedding guests are held hostage by pirates and now Darcy and Tom must become unlikely action heroes to stop the armed band of goons and save their wedding (and guests).

Shotgun Wedding Review: Jennifer Lopez's New Movie Has A Novel Setup, With Mediocre Execution
Image
The new film "Shotgun Wedding" highlights the danger of having a reasonably interesting concept without similar follow-through. When the trailer was released a couple of months back, there were a number of folks on Twitter who seemed delightedly mystified at how a seemingly innocuous romantic comedy about a bride and groom getting set for their wedding in the Philippines turned into an action movie when said wedding is beset upon by vicious pirates. And the setup is indeed kind of a welcome and dark twist on the friendly, low-key, and low-stakes comedies that star Jennifer Lopez has made throughout her career. But the execution of the setup is desperately wanting, in part because the film and too many (though not all) of its players don't have the right comic notes or even know which ones to hit.

Considering some other recent big-screen romantic comedies, it's hard not to watch "Shotgun Wedding

Shotgun Wedding Review: Jennifer Lopez Hardly Redeems Mediocre Action Comedy
Image
Last year when Marry Me, the romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson was being released, many were touting it as a return to form by the pop singer-turned-actress, once a reigning queen of rom-coms. But the film was hardly worth the fanfare and landed with a whimper in theaters and on streaming. Sometime around the release of that movie, Shotgun Wedding was in the works and seemed to signal that after an unfortunate snub fest for her performance in Hustlers, Lopez was returning to a most beloved genre. Shotgun Wedding appeared to be the right call — it took some familiar notes from J.Lo rom-coms of the past and threw it into an action movie blender. With a cast of iconic comedians and a totally game Lenny Kravitz in the mix, Shotgun Wedding seemed like a surefire hit, but it's overwhelmingly bland despite extra special ingredients being present.

Jennifer Lopez was reluctant to star in 'Shotgun Wedding'
Image
Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez, who leads the cast of Jason Moore’s film “Shotgun Wedding”, was initially unsure about starring in the project after working on the movie “Marry Me” and was only convinced after reading Mark Hammer’s script, media reports said.

Jennifer said: “(I had) just signed on to do ‘Marry Me’ and was about to do it and was like, ‘Ah, I don’t want to do another wedding movie'”.

“I remember, I was in my tub and was like, ‘Let me read it and I was like, ‘Oh this is funny, this could be good; depending on who directed this, it could be really good.’ And then when we got (director) Jason Moore I was like, ‘Ok, this is gonna be fun’, and we got this amazing cast,” she told ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, ‘Female First UK’ reports.

As per ‘Female First UK’, the movie tells the

‘Shotgun Wedding’ Review: Jennifer Lopez Hits The Altar Again But This Time With Real Fireworks
Image
Jennifer Lopez has been married a few times, both in life and in the movies — most recently twice last year with her real life wedding(s) to Ben Affleck, and on screen in her delightful Valentine’s Day-timed comedy Marry Me. Both made me happy for her, but her latest, Shotgun Wedding, is something altogether different, a frenetic action comedy that never puts on the brakes. It is a wild ride no doubt, but it isn’t the kind of wedding to which I need to be invited any time soon.

So the plot is pretty predictable, especially if you have seen a whole range of movies from Romancing the Stone to last spring’s The Lost City, manic films that pair a male and female star caught in treacherous circumstances and lets them argue and snap at each other for the better part of two hours as they face

‘Shotgun Wedding’ Review: Jennifer Coolidge Is the Most Valued Guest at Jennifer Lopez’s Grisly Destination Wedding
Image
“Not everything is about money!” exclaims bride-to-be Darcy at the rehearsal dinner for her idyllic-looking island wedding in the Philippines — a rebuke to her multi-millionaire father Robert, who wishes she’d let him pay to make the whole affair even more luxe. Perhaps she means it. Darcy claims she wanted to elope to avoid the whole foofaraw, while her “groomzilla” Tom, in a pleasing reversal of gender stereotypes, obsesses over table settings. When their elegant nuptials are crashed by a gang of ransom-seeking pirates, her instincts are proven correct — though as played by a typically immaculate Jennifer Lopez, she doesn’t seem like someone who craves the simple life. “Shotgun Wedding” may begin by separating rich from rich, though as the body count mounts in this oddly unpalatable romantic comedy, such distinctions fall away: In the face of impoverished, gun-toting Asian criminals, well-off Americans must mostly prevail.

‘Shotgun Wedding’ Review: J. Lo Wedding Action-Comedy Is An Interminable Slog
Image
Action-comedy “Shotgun Wedding,” Jennifer Lopez’s latest star vehicle, comes almost exactly a year after her other recent wedding-set romance “Marry Me”. In both films, Lopez portrays women finding their true love a bit late in life, yet like a modern Doris Day, the characters she plays are implied to be nearly 15 years younger than she actually is. As if a woman in her fifties couldn’t have these very experiences – something explicitly proven wrong by the star’s own personal life.

Jennifer Lopez has been in wedding mode for nearly a year — from “Marry Me” to “Shotgun Wedding” and, of course, her real-life nuptials to Ben Affleck!

Et’s Nischelle Turner recently sat down with Lopez and her “Shotgun Wedding” co-star, Josh Duhamel, to dish about their new action rom-com and all things marriage.

“I didn’t plan any of it this way,” Lopez reflected with a laugh. “I mean, “Marry Me”… we wound up filming it like, right before the pandemic happened and then they held onto that for a year and a half… and “Shotgun Wedding”, that was the first one I did when people started filming again.”

While “Marry Me” allowed J.Lo to showcase her musical talents in a light-hearted rom-com setting, “Shotgun Wedding” ups the ante on the fictional big day, as a crew of pirates take the entire wedding party hostage, forcing Lopez and Duhamel

Alvvays Interview: Collaborating With Stardew Valley's ConcernedApe
Image
The indie-pop band Alvvays recently did something much different for a new music video, collaborating with Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe. Also known as Eric Barone, ConcernedApe single-handedly created the beloved farming sim over the course of four and a half years, and is now branching out into new projects like the game Haunted Chocolatier. Alvvays first formed in 2011, and are known for songs like "Marry Me, Archie" and "Dreams Tonite."

Although the developer has been busy since announcing his new game Haunted Chocolatier, ConcernedApe recently took the time to animate an entire music video for the Alvvays song "Many Mirrors" from the band's new album Blue Rev. The music video showcases the first 3D animation for the developer, and allowed him to experiment with new styles and methods. Many of the members of Alvvays are big fans of Barone's previous game Stardew Valley, mentioning in past interviews how they enjoy playing it on the road.

65 Trailer: Adam Driver's Sci-Fi Horror Flick Is Finally Here
Image
It's been over two years since we first heard about "65," the sci-fi horror flick starring Adam Driver, but Sony Pictures is finally giving up the goods and giving us our first look at the highly-anticipated film. "65" has run the gamut regarding release dates, which can sometimes be a sign that a studio truly believes in the final product and is working toward the best possible release strategy. Based on the impressive creative team in front of and behind the camera, we can only hope this is the case.

Sony released a teaser for the trailer drop yesterday, featuring roughly 25 seconds of footage of Driver sleeping on the ground in what looks to be a cave on a desolate planet. The environment looks damp, dark, and filled with unseen terrors that Driver will certainly have to fight off.

The teaser starts with his character being awoken by a sensor alarm going off.

Olly Murs says he ‘can’t believe’ people thought ‘I Hate You When You’re Drunk’ lyrics were ‘controlling’
Image
Olly Murs has responded to criticism of the “cruel” lyrics to his new song “I Hate You When You’re Drunk”.

Last month, the singer released his new single from his album Marry Me.

However, the lyrics were quickly dissected online, with critics suggesting that the song showed Murs attempting to humiliate a loved one for getting drunk and that the words were “misogynistic”.

While Murs’s fiancée Amelia Tank defended the former X Factor finalist, he has now responded to his critics while appearing on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday (6 December).

“I mean, it’s obviously upsetting to think that people took it that way because it was not that intention,” Murs told hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent. “It was a song that I really related to in the studio when it was a song that was [written] eight years ago.”

He explained: “It’s so true, because at the start of January,

20 years ago, when Lopez was deeply in love with Affleck, she penned her landmark album This Is Me…Then, which was inspired by the “Pearl Harbor” movies star- especially the track “I’m Glad”- however, a year after its release she and Affleck, whom she called the “love of my life,” broke off their engagement.

“I wouldn’t even perform these records. It was so painful after we broke up,” Lopez told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. “Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life. I honestly felt like I was going to die.

However, shortly after it was given radio airplay, many immediately began criticising the song’s message, which sees Murs, 38, lambast a loved one for getting drunk on a night out.

The lyrics begin: “Oh, you're slurrin' all your words, there's make-up on my shirt / You're dancin' on the tables, can't you see / That you look like a mess and you're singin' Whitney?”

In the second verse, he sings: “Oh, you got them drunken eyes, should we call it a night? /‘Cause you’ve been tellin’ stories four-five times / Yeah, I’ve heard it before and my ears are bleedin’.”

Murs then repeatedly sings the words: “Oh, I hate you, hate you, I hate you,

‘Christmas with You’ Review: Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Netflix Holiday Rom-Com Will Make You Feel Nothing

It’s been 18 years since Freddie Prinze Jr. made his last “Scooby-Doo” appearance, but the beloved ’90s teen star has still yet to solve the mystery of how to be a convincing actor. Not to sound like a total Scrooge, but Netflix’s “Christmas with You” is such a woefully by-the-numbers approach to the holiday rom-com that it forgets the most important ingredient: it even lacks the spirit of Christmas itself.

In Gabriela Tagliavini’s film, Prinze stars as Miguel, a single dad music teacher whose talented singer daughter Cristina (Deja Monique Cruz) uploads a rendition of pop star Angelina’s (Aimee Garcia) hit track on Instagram. Angelina’s own flailing music career hinges on a Christmas hit, all the better to mimic Mariah Carey’s career (this is an actual reference in the movie) but Angelina just can’t tap into the holiday spirit, as she’s reminded at

Box Office: ‘Black Adam’ Debuts at No. 1 With 67 Million, ‘Ticket to Paradise’ Scores 16 Million
Image
“Black Adam,” a superhero adventure starring Dwayne Johnson as a villain who promises to change the “hierarchy of power” in the DC universe, towered over box office charts with 67 million in its domestic debut.

The Warner Bros. comic book movie handily took down the weekend’s other new nationwide release, Universal’s romantic comedy “Ticket to Paradise,” which landed in second place with a better-than-expected 16.3 million from 3,543 cinemas. “Black Adam,” heading into the weekend, was projected to open to 62 million while playing in 4,350 theaters, but ticket sales were stronger than anticipated on Saturday and Sunday, leading the studio to revise estimates.

Internationally, “Black Adam” kicked off with 73 million from 76 markets for a global tally of 140 million.

“As a spin-off, this is a strong opening,” says David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research. “‘Black Adam’ should do well abroad and be comfortably profitable.”

Ticket To Paradise Review: Roberts & Clooney Charm In Enjoyably Mediocre Rom-Com
Image
Though there has been a resurgence of romantic comedies thanks to Netflix and other streamers, rom-coms released solely to theaters are few and far between. Even Marry Me, the Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson-led rom-com, was released directly to Peacock in addition to receiving a theatrical release earlier this year. Starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney, Ticket to Paradise is reminiscent of an era long gone. Directed by Ol Parker, who co-wrote the screenplay with Daniel Pipski, Ticket to Paradise seems too afraid to dig into the romantic aspects, but it makes up for it by being charming, sweet, and occasionally funny.

Georgia (Roberts) and David (Clooney) Cotton loathe one another. After five years of marriage, they divorced and have been living the last 25 years in relief of being away from each other. When their daughter, Lily (Kaitlyn Dever), meets Gede (Maxime Bouttier) while on vacation in Bali, their

‘She-Hulk’ Director Kat Coiro Admits She Was ‘Squeamish’ About That Finale Episode, Shares How Kevin Feige Put Her Mind At Ease
Image
Spoiler alert: The following story contains spoilers for “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” season one.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige helped put “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” director Kat Coiro’s mind at ease when it came to filming that finale episode.

The “Marry Me” movie-maker told The Hollywood Reporter how she was worried about filming such an unconventional ending to a Marvel show. However, Feige and other bosses told her not to fret.

The episode, titled “Whose Show Is This?”, saw Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany) smash the fourth wall, using the Disney+ platform to wind up at Marvel Studios, where she discussed how the season should end with a robotic AI named K.E.V.I.N.

‘Ticket to Paradise’ Review: Julia Roberts and George Clooney Grin and Bear By-the-Numbers Rom-Com
Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, and Maluma in Marry Me (2022)
The slick and star-driven Hollywood rom-coms of the pre-Judd Apatow era are having a mini-revival this year. First there was “Marry Me,” which teamed Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, and now comes “Ticket to Paradise,” a sun-kissed comedy of remarriage with George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

It’s efficient enough, and there are certainly tougher things to watch than two supremely attractive movie icons trading sarcastic insults in a leafy tropical Eden. But the film’s director and co-writer, Ol Parker, is so committed to light, feel-good escapism that he leaves out all of the requisite tension and twists — and, for that matter, the requisite jokes.

Parker’s last film was “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” the cheerfully redundant sequel-prequel to “Mamma Mia!” That was a brutal social-realist tract compared to “Ticket to Paradise.”

Aimee Garcia & Freddie Prinze Jr. in Romance 'Christmas With You'
Image
"I really think this could be the one, Mo." "The song, or the music teacher?" Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a schmaltzy holiday romance called Christmas With You, one of their latest Hallmark Channel offerings. The streamer continues to make "content" that is generic and easily digestible, resulting in a lot of Hallmark-esque low quality films that will be forgotten as soon as the credits roll. What is this one about? Seeking inspiration for a hit holiday song, and feeling career burn out, a pop star named Angelina grants a young fan's Christmas wish to meet her — and finds a shot at true love along the way. This seems like a rip-off mash-up of the plots from both Marry Me and Notting Hill previously, both of which are much better films than this. Christmas With You stars Aimee Garcia as Angelina, Freddie Prinze Jr. as her "music teacher" love interest,

Director Kat Coiro Made Sure The She-Hulk Finale Shot At The Real Marvel Studios Offices [Exclusive]
Image
Throughout the course of "She-Hulk: Attorney At Law," Tatiana Maslany's Jennifer Walters constantly broke the fourth wall to address her adoring public, just as her comic book counterpart did in the pages of Marvel Comics many years ago. But in the season 1 finale of the latest Marvel Studios series on Disney+, Jen wasn't just yelling at her writers for the decisions they were making in her story. Shulkie broke out of the House of Mouse's streamer and marched right into the writers' room to confront showrunner Jessica Gao and her team face to face. And when they didn't give her the answers she was looking for, the Jade Giantess headed to the House of Ideas' offices to confront the man in charge. Of course, she was met by a very different K.E.V.I.N. than she was expecting.

As soon as She-Hulk escaped Disney+ and entered our world,

‘Freaky’ Director Slams ‘Halloween Ends’ Release on Peacock: ‘Stop Gambling With Filmmakers’
Jamie Lee Curtis and James Jude Courtney in Halloween Ends (2022)
“Halloween Ends” has become the latest film that Universal has moved to a day-and-date release strategy with a simultaneous rollout in theaters and on its streaming service Peacock. But Christopher Landon, who directed the Blumhouse horror films “Happy Death Day” and “Freaky” for Universal, is sick of Hollywood using the strategy at the expense of directors.

In a Twitter thread on Saturday, Landon talked about how “Freaky,” his horror comedy about a teenage girl who switches bodies with a wanted serial killer, was released theatrically in November 2020 during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic but then released as a video-on-demand title less than a month later, in keeping with Universal’s then-newly-signed agreement with major theater chains allowing them to release films on-demand as early as 17 days after theatrical release.

‘Bros’ Decoded: Why You Shouldn’t Read Too Much Into the Gay Rom-Com’s Weak Box Office
Billy Eichner at an event for The Oscars (2015)
“Success has many fathers,” the old saying goes, “but failure is an orphan.” Nonetheless, that orphan has no shortage of forensic surgeons ready to give it an autopsy. As early as Saturday of the opening weekend of the Universal gay romantic comedy “Bros,” the Monday-morning quarterbacking began, as various corners of the internet came forward with their reasons why the film’s grosses were a disappointment.

The marketing was too focused on its status as the first major-studio LGBTQ rom-com! It was too white! The poster was off-putting! The title was vague! Billy Eichner and Luke Macfarlane aren’t big enough names to open a movie! People don’t go to rom-coms during Halloween season! People don’t go to rom-coms, full stop! The reasons seemed endless. Sometimes they were thoughtful. Sometimes.

If you’re familiar with “Bros” star and co-writer Eichner’s work on “Billy on the Street” or “Difficult People,

Jennifer Lopez Adds Hand Grenades, Cake Knives to Registry in ‘Shotgun Wedding’ Trailer

Most wedding registries look like they’re copied straight out of a Macy’s catalog, stocked with essentials to help newlywed couples start this new chapter of their lives on the right foot. But in the trailer for Shotgun Wedding, Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom (Josh Duhamel), are in need of much heavier artillery than a set of Mr. and Mrs. coffee mugs.

The Prime Video film — directed by Pitch Perfect’s Jason Moore and premiering Jan. 27 — drops in on Darcy and Tom’s glorious destination wedding that would be

Shotgun Wedding Trailer: Well, That Took An Unexpected Turn
Image
Today Prime Video has released a new trailer for the upcoming Jennifer Lopez film "Shotgun Wedding." Yes, JLo is in a wedding dress yet again, as she was in the recent movie "Marry Me," as well as her real-life wedding to Ben Affleck. Lopez plays a woman named Darcy engaged to Josh Duhamel's Tom, dealing with his mother, played by Jennifer Coolidge. You can practically hear the jokes in your head, can't you? A woman dealing with a nosy and bossy future mother-in-law, having wedding jitters, and from the title, maybe pregnant? It all sounds like the usual fare for a film about impending nuptials, right?

It is not, as you may have guessed from the title of this article. I don't want to spoil anything for you, but this trailer takes an unexpected turn a little under a minute in. Things are not as they seem. You think

‘Shotgun Wedding’ Trailer: Jennifer Lopez Is Held Hostage at Her Own Nuptials
Image
Nothing can go wrong on Jennifer Lopez’s big day… right?

Wrong. The “Marry Me” actress and international pop star leads Prime Video’s upcoming romantic comedy, “Shotgun Wedding,” about a bride (Lopez) and groom (Josh Duhamel) whose nuptials lead to a horrific hostage situation, and not just because of the bad buffet. The action rom-com also stars Jennifer Coolidge as Lopez’s monster-in-law who wields a massive gun and yells “nobody fucks with my family” in the trailer.

The ever-smooth Lenny Kravitz is Lopez’s onscreen ex, but it’s the international pirates who really throw a wrench into the ceremony. D’Arcy Carden, Sônia Braga, Cheech Marin, Selena Tan, Callie Hernandez, Desmin Borges, Steve Coulter, and Alberto Isaac round out the ensemble cast.

Directed by Jason Moore (“Pitch Perfect”) and written by Mark Hammer, “Shotgun Wedding” premieres January 27 on Prime Video. Lead star Lopez, Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman, Alexander Young,

‘Shotgun Wedding’ Trailer: Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel Endure the Wedding From Hell in Action Rom-Com
Image
“‘Til death do us part” is the haunting overtone of director Jason Moore’s upcoming feature “Shotgun Wedding,” which combines the thriller, romance and comedy genres into 100 minutes of action-packed content.

Prime Video dropped the trailer online (Tk) to promote the film ahead of its anticipated international premiere on Jan. 27, 2023.

Co-starring Grammy-nominated singer Jennifer Lopez and actor Josh Duhamel as an engaged couple, the two are about to get married when the entire wedding party is taken hostage by criminals. The couple must then overcome the bumps in their relationship to save their friends and family.

Teasing at the mixture of steaminess and bloodshed to come, the newly distributed trailer includes a fleeting glimpse of singer-actor Lenny Kravitz shirtless.

The decision to cast Lopez comes as no surprise given the genre-bending picture marks the performer’s second consecutive wedding-themed film. Her first was Universal Pictures’ “Marry Me,” a musical romance
