  • The first 5 episodes I thought was a direct rip of Dead Set but the last was really got interesting when the direction of the series veered off into its own direction. I Loved The Never Ending Bag of Cocaine. Hilarious

    Fun!
Why some people are trying to take a zombie comedy serious? The first 5 episodes are an official Dead Seat remake but the other 5 are original script adding a new path for the series.
  • I'm a fan of zombie movies, I've to say I was a kind of sceptic about this one, even more because I never watched a brazilian movie before and also after seeing some negative reviews, but I have to say I enjoyed it, the production, actors and make-up are pretty good. The plot won't blow your mind away, it is more a kind of A-B-C zombie movie, but it is pretty decent to watch. What I liked most is that it was very unpredictable, and I mean VERY unpredictable. Good for Brazilian productions, it was a good starting. I can't wait to watch the season 2. Congrats.
  • First off - this ya not a shot by shot copy of Dead Set. The first five episodes borrow heavily from the original but also adds another story line. The remake characters lacked a bit of punch but nuance is always lost in translation. After episode 5 the whole thing takes a new direction with characters who have much more dimension. As for the similarities in the remake it seemed more like a homage than just a copy - something though to get through to get to Part 2. There is a familiar yet blaring metaphor here about society and it's very apt and very scary. Episodes come in at a quick 25 minutes so a 10 episode binge is realistic.
  • I was so disappointed. After reading the plot outline is was quite excited to watch this series, it reminded me a little of Dead Set and I was looking forward to seeing the series I thought I was going to watch, just to see the exact same scenes from Dead Set with a different cast.

This is basically a shot for shot remake of Dead Set. Even the actress playing the main character looks a lot like the original.....and they may have just borrowed the wardrobe.

There doesn't seem to be any reason for not just dubbing the English version, except to give some little known actors and actresses some work.

As soon as I heard old Pink Floyd in E1, I knew I was in it for the long haul.

Brazilian adaptation of "Dead Set" which I have no problem with. Zombies both look and act real so that's always a plus considering all of the cheap looking fakes that often ruin these types of efforts. The lines are definitely funny too. However, the actors are speaking Portuguese, so the version I watched was dubbed which is something I personally hate. I did attempt to switch it over but the English captions didn't always appear when someone was speaking.

Considering I usually rate on the lower side of the scale, while it's not as good as "Dead Set," it's definitely watchable nevertheless.
  • I haven't seen the original (yet), but this was very well made. Great zombie effects, as good as anything high end like TWD or WWZ. Action throughout, they don't spare characters either. And if Dead Set ended its ot after episode 5 of this, at least this is more complete and has some interesting ideas after.

It's so bad , like it's gotta be the worse zombie TV show ever but for some odd reason , I haven't been able to look away ' 🤣
  • Yes, the first few episodes are basically the Dead Set plot, but it takes wild turns the last half of episodes. I honestly didn't see the ending coming, at all - the last ten minutes is an absolute wtf. I'm excited for a second season. I hope there is another endless bag of cocaine, it was an odd and hilarious note of apocolyptic humor.

I didn't care for the voice overs and ultimately preferred just the captions.

One of the takeaways from this show that was interesting was it seemed like two seasons rolled into one. The characters in the second half are no one you followed in the first half whether you liked them or not. It's a little jarring but way more economical than the 100 seasons of crap shows like the Walking Dead with no end in sight.

After watching the 1st season, it is just an OK show. It is wayyyy under the original Dead Set, but the way the story is expanded... is actually interesting and intriguing? The ending is ambiguous enough to just finish there or jump into a second season... if you saw and loved Dead Set, just don't mind the first 5 episods that much, for being almost a shot-for-shot remake... it gets better, way better from episode 6 till 10.
  • I thought the first couple of episodes weren't going to keep me watching but I stuck through it and now I'm wanting more. I never saw the Dead set series that they say is where this came from so it was fresh for me. Hard to find Zombies moves that arent like all the others but there was enough here to keep me glued to the set. Love the special effects. Hopefully season 2 will be made. I curious to see how they will continue on.
  • You'll like this :)

Don't listen to the others saying it's just copy and paste trash, I think it's done a good job using the original material's story telling and then expanding on it.
  • So its a literal shot by shot remake of a previous show that lasted on season. It was called dead set. It was good. So I was hoping for this to be original. I could call what was going to happen next which was a bit of a disappointment. The acting was ok. The voice overs could be a bit better. Oh well. I wouldn't watch a second season unless it really picks up in originality. If there even will be one.
  • I watched all 10 episodes in a day, and it was worth it! It's a full on action-packed zombie show! No one is safe is really true on this show! It reminded me of 80's horror films, it was at times a bit cheesy and fun and sometimes pretty nerve-racking! The zombies are like in Train to Busan and it's really well-done.
  • The first time I saw people acting like Zombies, doing a better part than the other actors!!! Dammm Netflix, that is just...damm!
  • Warning: Spoilers
First off I'd like to start of by saying I don't know how this is listed as comedy as there is almost zero humor in it at all so don't be mislead. But even with that said, I'm more of horror/action anyway which theres plenty of in this series so that isn't my problem.

My issue with this series has to do more with direction then director took in the later episodes. Episodes 1-5 were excellent. I was highly engaged with the main cast and the connection that they all started building up. But then they went ahead and killed them all off. I can understand taking out one or two for shock value, but just to off all them was idiotic. Episodes 6-10s main cast wasn't engaging or interesting enough to carry the remainder of the series.

Would I recommend it? While I hated how the second half finished overall it still wasnt bad series to binge watch as each episode is only 25-30 minutes in length.
  • I would have enjoyed this more if they had been honest and at least called it Dead Set version 2 or something.

Its a scene by scene, little deviation from original channel 4 tv series. I enjoyed Dead set when I first watched it and I dont necessary dislike some previous remakes (Dusk till Dawn for example). Difference being I knew what I was getting into.

The little deviation there is (reality show type/setting) somehow makes it worse.

This poor effort results in a ruined experience in the guise of a foreign language copy with terrible dub/subtitle options and mismatch dialogue/audio on Netflix.

Honestly, if you think you would enjoy this series just from the description offered by the streaming service provider. Just watch Dead Set, even if you've already seen it.

Maybe im being overly harsh or suspicious but I've noticed an increase in misslabelling release dates on Prime. Re-releases of same movies with different title and other such behaviour from the content providers lately.

Hopefully this will not become the norm for future content.

I enjoyed this series. I really hope for a secend season. Original and mixes stuff from other zombiemovies in it. i had moments where i was really having a laugh (first 5 episodes) and some where i was just attached to the screen thinking.. oh, whats gonna happen now? (last 5 episodes)
  • Is it an exact copy of Dead Set? Yes the first 5 episodes are an exact carbon copy.....but then it goes beyond where Dead Set ended... it explores more and it's not that bad. The only real tragedy here is the god-awful English dubbing. You can't say it's bad acting when it's not the original language; you can't hear the emotion or inflection of the original actors. Netflix should fire whoever is in charge of the dubbing and voice actors because wow, it's REALLY bad...and that seems to be a Netflix trend when they do these

Poor acting, loose script, cinematography is pathetic.

Total waste of money from producers.
  • People are complaining about a rip off of Dead Set. In the titles of every episode it mentions Dead Set so it's not like they were trying to pretend it wasn't. I watched Dead Set. I didn't memorize it so honestly this was all new to me. Good characters. Watched with subtitles! No dubbing for me. Good effects, good gore, good Zombies! Better than anything I've seen in a long time. Watched in 3 days. Saved the final episode for the 3rd day. Just sad to see some faves bite the dust though. Hope there is a season 2. Thanks for the ride. Oh, and really great music!

What seems at first as another zombie show, turns out to be something more. A social comment on modern culture. Nothing new about that, I know, but it's done very clever, with great sfx, great acting and gets you hooked. You will love the characters, root for many of them but you must realize that they are not the real stars of the show. It's all about the house.
  • I really enjoyed dead set, this is such a poor copy. I would avoid....
  • The first two episodes were so cringe and the acting is laughable at best. Not to mention netflix didn't sync the audio correctly. I almost stopped watching it.

It got better every episode with less terrible acting and became more of a action packed zombie flick. Once the pace picked up and certain characters died it got way better.
