  • Warning: Spoilers
I completed this game about 6 months ago. And I am currently playing Wildlands which I hear from most is superior. So I'm going to compare both games since one has been far more successful than the other.

I'm gonna start with the good things I have to say. I really liked the opening moments of the game. Going into a mission with not much info and then proceeding to get blown out of the sky by some kind of new unknown drone tech. It was a really great opening and made you feel very outmatched and desperate.

The graphics and mechanics are perfect for a ghost recon game. It keeps the same movement system from Wildlands but adds more layers. Slipping and sliding down hillsides, rolling in the mud to camouflage, and more dynamic character movements in diverse environments makes for an immersive experience. The sound design and small environmental details also add so much to the overall atmosphere.

I also liked the dialogue and some emotional moments the game had between characters. A lot of it seemed real and well done with the actors.

Now the negatives. The island Aurora is so boring. The landscape is bland and doesn't have enough Variety. Buildings felt copied and pasted and the bad guys felt like the same basic dude every single time.

It's also way too easy. Unless you go into the settings beforehand and purposefully make the game more difficult, it'll be very easy and tedious. Wildlands has been far more difficult and this game basically copied most aspects but didn't make them as good. It just feels bland and doesn't feel like much love and care were put into it.

The story is lifeless. I love John Bernthal but sadly he's wasted in this. He could have been a good conflicted-villain and us players feel conflicted about killing him or what's he's trying to accomplish. But he just dies at the end and it's like eh? Do I really care?

Aurora has cool technology, but oh no bad guy took over, now you shoot and kill everybody until problem is solved. You spend the game wasting thousands of goons and not feeling as if you're REALLY the good guy. The game also gives you the option to knock enemies out but they just die anyways? Wouldn't have been interesting to let the player choose to kill or spare enemies? And maybe that would affect your experience? Wouldn't it be awesome if you took out an enemy base or checkpoint and when you come back to the location it's deserted or taken over by friendlies? And maybe if you capture more enemies you can find out more intel that can help you along the process.

Honestly it just felt kinda lazy. They improved enough to make it feel "fresh" and "new" but it just feels like a downgrade with fancy makeup on. I really hope the next one steps up and makes something really good.
  • The Division has ruined the way Ubisoft makes games. This is what I've taken to be the case over the last few years, cause every game they make seems to feel the need to mimic that game. Ever heard of the phrase "diversify your portfolio"? Apparently Ubisoft hasn't because Breakpoint is literally the most bland, underwhelming, least tactical Tom Clancy game I've ever played and I've played quite a few of them.

Dialogue is great. Legit acting it would seem. Graphics look stunning. Much better of a game all around than the previous one.
  • There have been games that have had some not so desirable aspects that have warranted bad reviews where I've been able to overlook the flaws and enjoy my experience regardless of the flaws. And then there's breakpoint. Is it flawless? No. Did you pick up an Ubisoft open world game expecting flawless? If you answered yes then you're probably severely inexperienced. Yes it has some technical bugs as literally *every single* open world Ubisoft game has, but I couldn't seem to find the issue with the content itself. The story was said to be lackluster and boring and I actually thought it intriguing and well paced, the acting was great, the combat was amazing. That's my biggest point of enjoyment is the combat, while occasionally repetitive (it's a shooter lol that's what happens) it has nice variety and smooth gunplay and a beautiful open world to explore. Overall ratings:

Graphics: 10/10 Gameplay: 10/10 (as of 2021 after all of its updates) Story: 8/10

    I bloody love this game!

I was a huge fan of Future Soilder and I have come to play this game straight out of completing Wildlands.

I haven't been able to put the game down.

I was so excited about it but after hearing the bad reviews I was initially put off.

This is honestly one of the best games I have played. I have barely noticed any issues at all. The micro transactions are available but it is not pushed on you. I couldn't even tell you what the store looks like as I have never needed or felt tempted to look.

Don't let the bad reviews put you off. If you liked Wildlands you will love this even more.
  • I love Tom Clancy series they are always amazing to watch and play, however I feel as if Ubisoft destroyed his name sake, after years of future soldier I lived all the ghost recon games but then wildlands came, at first I loved the idea and then it came out it was terrible then they kinda fixed it after the dlc came out and etc. I then somewhat liked it again but then this game was announced and I flipped! The mechanic was amazing in the trailer the one man alive deal everything but the moment I saw the system became division and all RPG and more stupid loot boxes which by the way basically cuts half of the gear out of the game unless you do the daily box rewards cause I got a few items instead of paying thank God, but I still gave it a shot and I just keep getting frustrated where I have to have friends because this game is super broken and most of the new mechanics were half assed and I just have anger now playing, I hope they fix this game but personally you can take all this with a grain of salt even the writing and the story in general sucks I'd rather go back and play all the other and never think of this, and to Ubisoft in general I will never pre order anymore games they ruined assassin's creed and this game and I bet more soon. I will never buy a game from them again until all updates and everything go into place and they prove they are worth money anymore.
  • The best and the worst thing about this game is that there isn't a lot of explanation or tutorials, it really is as if you are shot down in a hostile island and you have to survive!!! From hunting food collecting Berry's and materials looting the soldiers that you kill and taking down bad guys single handedly is just amazing!! When The wolves attack it is generally an adrenaline fuelled fear that over comes you I love it!! I'm considering ditching my brothers wedding to play it!!
  • I just made the one review where I did bash on it mostly but I'll shorten this to give some good points, the reason I say it's ok because the game does look better and they way it plays is a great idea, if they cut off the rpg affect and made it where you have to craft and maintain heat, cold thirst, etc. I'd say they did a great job, the game is fun to play until you hit bad glitches and poor net code but I still feel like a real spec ops soldier when playing especially if you have friends who can keep you sane in the game, so mainly the game is still ok and sort of fun but they never should have copied division into this game, if they could do this and make it offline as an option, remove rpg stats and gear score, raids, I'd say it's better there is faction missions and pvp fine I'll accept that, oh and loot boxes they need to give up and face the music that it's stupid and that's there only scource to keep them alive they need to stop that. Other than that play the game at your own risk I did and here is my answers but play it and see what you think I will never judge anyone else it's there choice.
  • I LOVE THE MULTIPLAYER AND THE MAP TOO, BUT WHEN U PLAY SOLO IT GETS BORING!

There is not much to say.. Wildlands was fun, but there are just too many wrong things with this game to even write the list.. Sad..
  • I see Breakpoint getting a lot of bad rep for glitches despite being only six days out from release. It just came out, guys! Of course it's gonna have some issues! I personally have not experienced many "game-breaking" glitches, the only "real" one being that the game just randomly crashed and I had to restart it. One thing I do not like, however, is not being able to play Ghost Recon offline anymore. I also don't like the player hub system in Erewhon, but my wifi is fairly consistent so this isn't really "game-breaking", per-se.

That set aside, however, Breakpoint really offers a real, authentic, "spec-ops" feel. Bases are harder to drone out. Enemies are actually able to spot you, whereas in Wildlands you might as well walk in, do the mission, and walk back out. Some new mechanics, such as the prone camo feature, do need some work, but I'm giving the developers the benefit of the doubt since this is only 6 days out of launch. One thing I do miss, however, are my three NPC buddies that help me out during missions. Though I didn't like this at first, it does act as a nice change of pace and really make you think twice before engaging in a gunfight.

Now onto what has everyone worked up: micro-transactions and the loot system. I see a lot of people complaining about aspects from The Division being transferred to Breakpoint. Lucky for you, reader, I have also played both Division games. Let me state, first, that I've seen people saying that Ghost Recon is turning into The Division based only off of the looting system. Nobody has yet mentioned that you are able to get blueprints in various bases and thus be able to get a gun set to your gear level. In the Division, to get a higher level gun, you need a higher level blueprint.

Microtransactions are meh. I don't like that you can only buy some certain customization items with the currency you have to buy, but these don't affect gameplay. All they do is make your Ghost look cool. I've forked out ten bucks and it hasn't changed my gameplay one bit. Loot is fairly plentiful throughout the world, and you can use a "skin override" feature to completely customize your character and hide the actual armor they have equipped, which is a good idea for this kind of game. One thing that could be better is face paint, but again that's a very minor thing.

In terms of overall gameplay, I will say that civilian life is fairly sparse, but will agree that this is in part due to the fact that this is an island in the middle of the Pacific and not a country in South America (Bolivia in Wildlands). Environments are beautiful, but no footprints from players in snow or water ripples from helicopters does kind of irk me, but once again, this is a very small issue. Guns are fairly consistent, and I do like the feature of the "one shot headshot" regardless of level. Players need to remember that this game is based around tactical realism, and that getting shot in the head typically leads to death.

Overall, Breakpoint, while fairly buggy and suffering from a few issues, gets a lot of bad credit because of a few micro-transaction issues trumped up by the public and players who don't particularly enjoy shooters that have a looting/leveling aspect in them. Breakpoint, at its heart, is a good game, but needs time and dedication by Ubisoft in order to be fixed and modified. Hopefully, with time, Breakpoint will turn into a masterpiece that combines tactical realism, looting, leveling up, and a beautiful environment.
  • Ubisoft once again delivers an unfinished product. This game is filled with game breaking glitches, a story that becomes less compelling the more you play, bosses that can die instantly, and an overly annoying gear system, that has you changing gear every couple minutes. The game is short, broken, and bad. The only thing it had going for it, was the gameplay. Which hardly worked anyways. Tom Clancy would be rolling in his grave if he saw how pathetic and greed filled ubisoft was with this game. Save your money. Seriously. If you want a great game experience, this isn't the one. Ubisoft needs to learn to make great games again. Until then, don't pay them.

Great game, although I noticed lots of bugs here and there but i know at some point it will be fixed..great job 👍🏼
  • deaeight18 October 2019
Jaw-droppingly bad. Buggy, cobbled together lowest common denominator waste of EVERYONE's time and energy. Not even mentioning the brutally predatory transactions which include "time savers." This translates to you spending money to NOT play the game you just paid £50 for. Ubisoft design the game to deliberately slow you down then charge you to skip it! I don't have the words to describe just how transparently awful this utter drivel is. It has clearly been rushed out so that the money can start pouring in. It's not a game it's a money making mechanism for Ubisoft. They simply do not deserve your money for serving up this disgraceful dog's breakfast! It's actually an insult to dogs saying that!
  • awatkins-1921422 October 2019
It's fun, there's nothing special about it but it's fun. This game is like every other shooting game where you play as a dude in the military. I haven't noticed any glitches or "game ruining issues". It's fun, it's not broken so relax and enjoy it.

I've been playing this for a little over a week now, and whilst I was excited about it initially, I have to say that it is a real disappointment.

There are so many bugs. Most of them that I have encountered are not game-breaking, but they are immersion breaking. Crawling up to a pair of soldiers and going for a knife kill, resulting in the target and myself doing this weird overlapping leaping, where I was lying down but somehow suspended 1.5m above the ground, trying to slice the target, who would suddenly leap vertically 2m above the ground, and then we'd be bouncing around between each other for a couple of seconds until the second guy shot me dead.

Another example is the fact that the visuals of your gear loadout change from in game play to cut scenes, in strange ways. I'm wearing the Crye JPC plate carrier and primary weapon is an HK416. So for most of the game I appear to have 4 x HSGI Taco single mag carriers with my 5.56mm mags on the front of the plate carrier. Then in a cut scene it sometimes changes to either having 4 x long straight 9mm submachine gun mag pouches, to no mag pouches and a utility pouch on left and from memory a couple of pistol mag pouches on the right. Weird.

The bivouac system is stupid as well. You get to the location, select to set up your bivouac, and it goes to a cut scene of you setting up what looks like rope to tie down a tent, but there is no tent. You are sitting out in the open, with nothing around except maybe a smouldering camp fire, yet somehow you can magically buy new weapons and attachments and clothing in the store, swap out gear items, sell unwanted items, order cars, trucks or helicopters?!?!?! Ridiculous. Why not just make a small hut with a couple of the settlers or Outcasts in the hut, which would at least make it a little more plausible to conduct trading and get support.

Weapon attachments are poorly done as well. I purchased an ACOG TA31 and an Aimpoint T1 using in game currency, expecting to be able to put these on my HK416 assault rifle. But for some reason I can't. But I could attach the ACOG to a shotgun?!?! What the hell? For what reason would Ubisoft not allow me to add an ACOG of T1 red dot sight to my HK416, especially when they are marketing the game and mechanics as being realistic. An ACOG on a shotgun is nuts.

All of this is immersion-breaking, and is counter to the idea promoted by Ubisoft that this is a survival type game, you're on your own (until you walk into your main encampment and find there are 10 or so other Ghosts in the community hub area that you have to walk through to get to anything else!!!).

The story so far is ok, but the way the story is developed is poor. Voice acting is mostly wooden (it sounds like some of the voice actors were just bored or confused with what they were recording). The cut scenes are usually long winded, lack any sense of drama, and the facial expressions on the characters are flat. Lipsync is poor, and voices cut in and out, meaning if you have subtitles turned off (as I do to improve immersion) you can miss parts of the dialogue. Speaking of which, the dialogue is sometimes cheesy beyond belief.

Non-player characters in the wild react to you in bizarre ways, or alternatively don't react to you at all. I have walked right up to two individual Outcasts in the wild, and they don't even acknowledge my existence. No reaction to my presence in any way.

The helicopter camera and piloting controls are clunky.

The slip and slide thing on hillsides is something a lot of people complain about, but I like it. If you're out there in the wild on your own, taking care of where and how you walk is important. Sprained ankles, or falling and getting other injuries, is a real issue, and I like that this is in the game. If you just crouch before you walk down a hill, you can get down more slowly, but safely. However you can then apply this to walking down a 4-5m rock cliff, and somehow get down unscathed. Silly.

And why to suppressors reduce damage? They don't in the real world, and at least in Wildlands you could unlock a skill which eliminated this damage loss. Instead you have to be a totally different class in Breakpoint for this to work.

People are complaining about the microtransaction stuff, which honestly I don't care about. Have a bit of self-control and don't purchase stuff with real money unless you really want to, and almost everything you need in the game can be found in the wild or purchased with earned game currency. However I am concerned that the desire to monetise everything in the game has led to really poor choices around game design and gear and so forth. Like a Stetson hat which gives me more protection than an Ops-Core FAST ballistic helmet.

Overall I am very disappointed. There was so much potential in this game, but it feels like 30 different people with 60 conflicting ideas have all made their mark on the game, meaning that for every good idea/mechanic, there are two really bad ones. I definitely enjoyed Ghost Recon: Wildlands, so will continue playing this for the time being, but no way will I be paying real money for anything else associated with this game (like a Year 2 pass or such), and if you haven't already purchased the game I would recommend that you think twice.
  • ...like playing this game without crashing. You're on an island thrown into the wilderness. You can play coop or single player or player vs. player. Here is the thing: 30% of the island is covered in snow. When you see snow, the game crashes. Afterwards you report to Ubisoft. They explain:"We know about this issue and we will fix it very soon." So this means they know about this issue and they won't fix it very soon. In the meantime you could buy all their DLCs though. It's not just the crashes. You have a level system that is limited to 30 levels. You get shiny gear every second and you're somewhat forced to upgrade all your gear frequently. That means that you might get a bandana level 50 in gear equipment terms but later on you get the same bandana as level 150 in gear equipment. Makes sense right? Not to mention that the gear level stops somewhat around 250. When a NPC dies, it doesn't close it's eyes. Trashy dialogue, a lot of basic scripts you see repeating over and over again. I got this game for free, because I bought a new PC. If you bought this with conscent you either don't know what good games are or you enjoy to inflict pain upon yourself or you just wanna throw some more money at Ubisoft. It's titles like these that made it possible for Assassin's Creed to continue today. Even though the idea is dry and every version glitches more and more. I look at titles like these and think: You guys made piracy popular. Stop putting out trash games, then the consumer will buy the product in all honesty. In this kind of state, you just know that there are crackers out there that fix the issues of the game.

First off this is a disappointment after playing with wildlands mostly because they have just taken things away from the game instead of adding them. So now you have a more simple game with little stuff to do.

You could skalle you could summon backup you could fight the police stayed with a five star wondered system. You could do so much and all of this is just gone and not replaced with anything.

They want you to go to different chest to get weapons with high numbers and if you remove it then you're just left with nothing and it's just not fun not liking wildlands where could go to specific place and get an anti-tank rifle and have fun.

The game has some good points in story is not really dead good, but has some interesting moments but in the last second you find out that if you want to defeat the bad people then you have to pay for DLC and it was so annoying and just Sour a whole experience.

    Awesome
LOVE IT THANKS UBISOFT I LOVE THE GAMEPLAY,STORY,AND GUNPLAY
  • Jeppu7 October 2019
This is like division. Every assaultrifles feel same. No real recoil so it start to get boring real fast. And there's levels everywhere. Even in same guns. M4 level 10. M4 level 50. And still you get same unrealistic airsoftgun. Island is empty. No civilian life like Wildlands. Theres only enemys and they die very fast without any satisfaction. And btw. Theres tons of drones with healtbars. Nothing to do with orginal Gr or even Wildlands. Just new Division for kids.
  • I finally found it!! The absolute WORST game i've ever played in my entire life. Take everything that made Wildlands good, and make an absolute abortion of a sequel, oh and throw robots in there.

I wouldn't be surprised if this abomination gave me terminal cancer.
