'Master Class in Television:' ABC Exec Teases 9-1-1 Spinoff Special Event
Image
Fans of Ryan Murphy's 9-1-1 universe are in for a treat. The second 9-1-1 spin-off, 9-1-1: Nashville, is set to have a "really special event" when it premieres later in 2025.

Per Deadline, ABC's 2025 Fall schedule will include a 9-1-1 block from 8 pm to 10 pm every Thursday, beginning with the flagship series which will lead in to its newest spinoff. This paves the way for there to be special crossovers between the two series, with an ABC executive teasing that the new show would arrive with a bang. "I think that the 9-1-1 team are truly the masters of event-izing television, the way that be-nado kicked off 9-1-1 last year," Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group said. "They have a really special event planned for 9-1-1: Nashville."

While Erwich also said that 9-1-1 crossovers haven't been discussed yet, but noted that he thinks "it...

‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Adds LeAnn Rimes and Kimberly Williams-Paisley to Cast
Image
“9-1-1: Nashville” has added two more names to its cast: LeAnn Rimes and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

TheWrap has confirmed that the two performers will star in the forthcoming ABC series alongside fellow cast members Chris O’Donnell (“NCIS: Los Angeles”) and Jessica Capshaw (“Grey’s Anatomy”). Representatives for 20th Television and ABC declined to comment.

“9-1-1: Nashville” is being set up to be the third entry in the growing “9-1-1” universe. It comes on the heels of “9-1-1: Lone Star,” the franchise’s Rob Lowe-led Texas spin-off, which ended after five seasons in early February. The franchise’s flagship series, “9-1-1,” is currently in the midst of airing its eighth season. After premiering on Fox in 2018, “9-1-1” moved to ABC in its seventh season. “9-1-1: Lone Star,” conversely, aired in its entirety on Fox.

“9-1-1: Nashville” comes from Rashad Raisani and “9-1-1” co-creators Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear. The three are set...

LeAnn Rimes & Kimberly Williams-Paisley will star opposite Chris O’Donnell in ABC‘s 9-1-1: Nashville, from 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television, sources tell Deadline. They join Chris O’Donnell and Jessica Capshaw, who were previously announced.

ABC and 20th Television declined to comment on the castings.

The 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television project received a straight-to-series order from the network in February. The new offshoot joins the mothership series 9-1-1 on ABC, where it moved in 2023 following its cancellation at Fox. The second series from the franchise, 9-1-1: Lone Star, was canceled after five seasons in 2023 and completed its run early this year.

9-1-1: Nashville is written and executive produced by the franchise’s co-creators Ryan Murphy & Tim Minear and 9-1-1: Lone Star showrunner Rashad Raisani and will premiere during the 2025-26 season. The drama will also be executive produced by Brad Falchuk, co-creator of the...

‘Firefly’ Cast: What Are They Doing in 2025?
Image
Nathan Fillion’s Firefly aired only eleven out of its fourteen episodes when Fox abruptly cancelled the series. The show didn’t have the necessary ratings to justify its budget, but received a cult following after its cancellation. There were calls for its revival, and the actors of the series often got together at Comic Cons to reminisce about their experience.

Firefly was set 500 years into the future, when humans have entered a new star system. The series followed the adventures of a group of misfits aboard the Serenity, a Firefly-class spaceship. This group of nine anti-heroes was led by Fillion’s Malcolm Reynolds.

While a revival rumor is still in the air, the stars of the series have moved on. Nathan Fillion, Morena Baccarin, Gina Torres, and Alan Tudyk have all gone on to build great careers for themselves and are actively part of successful projects. Here’s...

"You've Got to Knock Down a Few Walls": Bobby Nash's '9-1-1' Death Addressed by 'Lone Star's Rob Lowe
Image
Captain Robert Wade Nash's (Peter Krause) death in 9-1-1Season 8, Episode 15, "Sick Day," is still being felt over a week later, and there have been varying reactions. Rob Lowe played Captain Owen Strand in the spinoff series 9-1-1: Lone Star, and in an interview with Variety, he shared his perspective on the development. "I watched it and thought it was beautifully written, beautifully acted. Peter is a spectacular actor,” Lowe said. “At a certain point in a show like that, and Tim [Minear] has said this publicly, every once in a while, you’ve got to knock down a few walls if you want to keep the house structure sound," he added. The actor theorized on the potential repercussions of this decision, saying:

"Ironically, it might rejuvenate the show into a whole new area, but it will never be the same without Peter who was, from the beginning, just such an amazing actor.

Rob Lowe on ‘The Floor’ Finale, That ‘9-1-1’ Family Death and Being Mistaken for John Stamos
Image
Rob Lowe is ready to go for Wednesday’s Season 3 finale of his Fox competition series, “The Floor.” Three seasons in and the host is confident he can end this thing with a bang that will have viewers coming back for Season 4, which is already in development at the broadcast network.

“The thing that you love the most about ‘The Floor’ is anything can happen,” Lowe told Variety. “Somebody can come out of nowhere. Somebody who’s built a huge area on the floor can go down in an instant. And we obviously have a ‘Jeopardy!’ champion that nobody wants to screw around with, and probably for good reason. But I would just say it’s always best, when in doubt, to expect the unexpected.”

“The Floor” keeps Lowe in the Fox family following the end of “9-1-1: Lone Star,” the spinoff of ABC’s first-responder procedural “9-1-1” (which...

911 season 8, episode 15 could (and probably should) have been much worse
Image
For the first time in eight seasons, 911 has killed off a major character. This death is one that will have devastating meanings for the remaining members of the 118, but the entire situation could have been so much worse. In fact, there should have been at least one more death in 911 season 8, episode 15.

Caution: This post contains Spoilers for 911 season 8, episode 15.

Am I happy with the death? Absolutely not, but from a storyline perspective, I appreciate and understand it. This death has now made it clear that nobody is safe. The 118 members have faced death time and time again, and some of those near-death experiences would have killed anyone else in any other show. It got to the point where we just didn’t expect a death to happen.

Sure enough, when the leaks of Bobby’s funeral came out a couple of weeks ago, we didn’t really think that it would happen.

9-1-1star Peter Krause opens up about leaving the hit series behind in tragic fashion.

Per Deadline, longtime 9-1-1 star Peter Krause has officially released a statement regarding his exit from the series following the most recent episode. "I would like to thank Dana Walden, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear for entrusting me with such a complex character over these nine years. It has been my honor to portray Captain Bobby Nash," Krause wrote. "I’ve heard that many fans are upset by this loss and they have a right to be. It is a loss."

"That said, it was more than a bold creative choice on a bold show. Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice and he was built for this. First responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day.

Jessica Capshaw Set for ‘911: Nashville’ at ABC
Image
Jessica Capshaw is set to resume saving lives on ABC.

The Grey’s Anatomy alumna has joined the network’s 911: Nashville, where she’ll star opposite Chris O’Donnell. Details about her role are being kept quiet for the moment. ABC and 20th Television, which is producing the series, declined to comment.

ABC gave 911: Nashville a straight-to-series order in February, making it the third show in the first-responder franchise from Ryan Murphy Television. O’Donnell will play Capt. Don Sharpe, who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse alongside his son — and is a rodeo rider on the side. Other details about the series, apart from the broad outlines of it following first responders in the Tennessee city,...

These '9-1-1: Lone Star' Actors Are Interested in Starring in the Next Spinoff (Which Is Already Confirmed!)
Image
The Fox series 9-1-1: Lone Star ended back in February and some of the show’s actors have expressed interest in appearing in a spinoff… and one is now confirmed.

Lone Star was a spinoff of the original 9-1-1 series and it ran for five seasons on Fox. The flagship show is now airing on ABC and the network has announced a new spinoff already… 9-1-1: Nashville!

The franchise leaving Fox was due to issues with Disney’s ownership of the show’s studio 20th Television and doesn’t reflect ratings.

“Sadly, we all love Lone Star, but the financials just didn’t work. It’s a Disney company that was on a Fox network, and it just was never going to work. And we had a long run of it. So now we’re going to launch a new show in a new city that I can’t name,...

Nathan Owens Upped To Contract Status At ‘The Young and the Restless’ Where He Appears As Holden Novak
Image
Following a recent update to the show’s closing credits, actor Nathan Owens has been upped to contract status with CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” after first joining the show on a recurring basis earlier this year.

Making his daytime debut in 2012, playing the role of Dr. Cameron Davis on “Days of our Lives,” Owens joined the cast of “The Young and the Restless” in January as a man impersonating Damian Kane, the son of Amy Lewis (Valerie Pettiford) who she had sought to find in order to reunite him with his half-brother, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic).

Ultimately, it turned out that “Damian” was Holden Novak, an associate of the real Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers), who had wondered what game his mother was playing, not realizing at the time that she was dying of leukemia.

While the show does not comment on actor contracts, Owen’s name had previously...

ABC (finally!) renews these beloved procedural dramas before their season finales

ABC has been taking an interesting approach to the renewal game. The network made the hopes and dreams of fans come true by renewing five beloved titles!

These titles include Grey's Anatomy, The Rookie, Shifting Gears, Will Trent and 9-1-1. One of these are shows rarely discussed on One Chicago Center, but Grey's Anatomy, The Rookie and 9-1-1 are huge titles in the procedural world, and we are frankly relieved to see them get picked up.

Disney to Leave Fox Studio Lot by End of 2025, Moving Teams to Burbank
Image
Disney is planning to vacate the Fox Studio Lot by the end of the year as it looks to bring its Los Angeles-based production teams closer together in Burbank, TheWrap has learned.

As part of Fox’s $71.3 billion deal with Disney in 2019, the former kept control of the 53-acre lot on Pico Boulevard in Century City and reached a seven-year leaseback deal with Disney to avoid production disruptions.

Over the past year, Disney Entertainment Television has been actively working to create a creative hub where its production teams can work more closely together, an insider familiar with the matter tells TheWrap. As part of the plan, Disney has decided to not renew its lease and its teams based at the Fox lot are in various stages of relocating to workplaces in Burbank, including the Disney Studio Lot. All moves are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Disney to Leave Fox Studio Lot, Relocate Teams to Burbank
Image
Disney is leaving the famed Fox Studio Lot amid plans to centralize production teams in Burbank.

Fox retained the 53-acre lot on Pico Boulevard in Century City as part of its $71.3 billion deal with Disney in 2019 for the bulk of assets owned by 21st Century Fox. It reached a seven-year leaseback with the entertainment giant to avoid disruption of productions shooting at the lot.

Over the past year, Disney’s TV arm has been bringing Los Angeles-based teams together in Burbank, with the goal streamlining services, according to a person familiar with the situation. As part of this plan, Disney isn’t renewing its lease with Fox. Teams based at the location are already relocating to workplaces in Burbank, where the company has its own studio lot, production services and office space. The company expects the move to be completed by the end of the year.

The move comes as...

“It doesn’t get better than that!”: Gina Torres Knows the Exact Scene in ‘Firefly’ That Made Her Fall in Love With the Show

Before she played Jessica Pearson in fan-favorite legal drama Suits, Gina Torres played Zoë Alleyne Washburne in the cult hit Firefly. Fans were unfortunate to have experienced the series for only a single season, but Torres and other cast members were able to leave a lasting impression.

Torres knew the exact moment in the series that made her fall in love with the series. It is one of the exchanges between the captain of the Serenity ship, Malcolm Reynolds, and his second-in-command, a conversation that is revered by the Browncoats.

What Does Angela Bassett Think Of 9-1-1 Crossing Over With Nashville Spinoff?

9-1-1 is known for its epic crossover events. The hit show just crossed over with Doctor Odyssey. Angela Bassett’s character, Athena Grant, had to embark on another ship despite having Ptsd from her cruise trip. ABC shocked fans with a 9-1-1: Nashville spinoff. Could Another Spinoff Happen?

Unfortunately, 9-1-1: Lone Star ended on Fox after five seasons. Meanwhile, the original series is still going strong on ABC. The network picked up the show after Fox dropped it. ABC announced a new spinoff that would take place in Nashville.

FBI: Most Wanted and International get disappointing update after cancelation
Image
We have been hopeful. It was a pretty devastating blow to lose both FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International at the same time. We suspected one of these shows were on the bubble, since CBS had yet to renew them, but we did not anticipate the network pulling the plug on both and then launching new FBI spinoffs in their place.

Still, there were flickers of hope. We had seen shows like Swat come back from the dead on CBS, and twice at that. We'd also seen shows like 9-1-1: Lone Star get the boot from one network, only to be picked up by another. Plus, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International were Wolf Entertainment titles that were connected to franchises on other networks. Maybe NBC can step in and keep one or both shows going?

Obviously, there’s still the franchise starter, 9-1-1, but the Texas spin-off still seems to have some wind beneath its sails.

But it wouldn’t make much sense to linger in Austin, Texas. For better or worse, it seems that the 126’s story has reached its end. However, its former captain still has plenty of potential. It can even be said that the show’s writers are perfectly positioned for another 9-1-1 spin-off.

Why Did 9-1-1: Lone Star End? Image via FOX9-1-1: Lone Star’s dramatic rescues were often inspired by real-life emergencies. Despite being set in Austin, Texas, most of Lone Star was filmed in Los Angeles, California. Series...

If 9-1-1: Nashville Isn’t Reheated 9-1-1: Lone Star On A Platter, Then Why Does It Already Feel That Way?
Image
It’s mixed feelings galore for fans of the 9-1-1 franchise.

There’s so much happening right now that our collective heads are spinning. For some asinine reason, Athena is moonlighting on Doctor Odyssey, 9-1-1: Lone Star literally went down in flames (and radiation), and we discovered that instead of wowing us with something new, the latest spinoff will take place in Nashville.

Yee-haw, hee-haw, and all that fun stuff, but while the mother series appears to be doing well enough and even thriving to the point of needing to lend a hand to that sinking ship that is Doctor Odyssey, the latter two points remain a frustrating point of contention.

(Kevin Estrada/Fox) We’re Already Wary of 9-1-1: Nashville’s Location

We’ve barely buried 9-1-1: Lone Star after they delivered one of a series’s most disappointing, unsatisfying final seasons in quite some time.

‘Doc’ Bosses Explain That Massive Love Triangle Finale Cliffhanger: ‘We Wanted It to Be Messy’
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “Doc” Episode 10.

“Doc” wrapped up its first season with confidence and chaos, leaving fans with a big cliffhanger for the future of the Amy, Michael and Jake love triangle.

Episode 10 of the Fox medical drama followed the aftermath of Amy (Molly Parker) and Michael’s (Omar Metwally) big kiss, as a train derailment also brought an avalanche of new patients into the ER. Amy also uncovered how Richard (Scott Wolf) lied about her being involved in the death of a patient, when she learned it was actually Richard who made a mistake during a code blue and ended up killing someone. The truth leads to Richard getting fired as chief and the hospital settling with the patient’s wife, but not before Amy cleared her name with the board and promised to consider taking the chief job again “in a few years.”

The kicker...

All the Fox shows on the bubble in 2025 so far (Which Fox shows could be canceled?)
Image
There are still a lot of Fox shows sitting on the bubble in 2025, which isn’t surprising for this time of the year. A lot of the renewals and cancellations come just ahead of the May Upfronts.

This is a chance to look at the shows that are airing right now. We can make a prediction on the Fox shows that could be canecled or renewed, using the linear ratings for the most part. Of course, Fox looks at more than just the linear ratings, but this is a strong indication of a show’s future.

So far, four Fox shows have been renewed: Universal Basic Guys, Doc, Murder in a Small Town, and Krapopolis. One show has come to an end, 911: Lone Star. That’s a lot still on the bubble!

Fox shows likely to be canceled: Accused, Going Dutch, and more

The main show that I’m...

Legendary Batman star to lead new major franchise TV show
Image
The world of television is an ever-changing landscape full of potential. You simply never know what is going to happen on your favorite TV shows, or how much they will change over time. From the good old days of procedural television to the juggernaut world of movie-like television on both streaming and cable, TV has evolved a great deal over the years, and it will no doubt continue to do so.

Audiences love drama, but they also love a good old-fashioned format; it's one of the reasons that network/broadcast TV never goes out of style. That's why some of the biggest franchises on TV are the 9-1-1 shows, the One Chicago series, and even The CW's classic Arrowverse (which ran from 2012 until 2024).

Now, one of those legendary TV show franchises is launching a new offshoot, and they've pulled in a classic Batman star to play the main role.

ABC's 911: Nashville finds its lead in NCIS franchise star
Image
911: Nashville has just found its first lead and it’s a face familiar to NCIS fans! Find out which NCIS: Los Angeles star has landed a new leading gig.

911 has seen some shifts this year. The mothership show is still going strong on ABC, having moved from Fox in 2024. Sadly, 911: Lone Star ended its five-season run earlier in 2025 with a grand finale.

The future looks bright for the franchise as ABC is working on a new spinoff for the 2025-26 season. Rather than a “backdoor pilot,” this is going straight to series, to be set in Nashville. That may be a surprising location yet the city’s history with country music and its Southern setting can lead to some big adventures.

The show is still in pre-production but just made a big move by casting Chris O’Donnell as its lead! Per Deadline, the NCIS: Los...

9-1-1: Nashville Spinoff Adds First Cast Member With NCIS: LA Star
Image
NCIS: LA star Chris O'Donnell has been cast in the lead role of ABC's upcoming spinoff series 9-1-1: Nashville. The original 9-1-1show, created by Ryan Murphy, premiered in 2018 and has since become a major flagship procedural for ABC with a growing universe. The second 9-1-1 spinoff follows the recently concluded 9-1-1: Lone Star, which Rob Lowe led in Austin, Texas. This time, Ryan Murphy's 9-1-1 franchise ventures further into the American South to follow the lives of first responders in the titular Tennessee city. The premiere of 9-1-1: Nashville will release later this year on ABC.

Now, Variety has reported that Chris O'Donnell will portray Captain Don Sharpe, a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider. Don is described as a "devoted husband and family man," but has some secrets which are sure to cause problems as he leads Nashville's busiest firehouse alongside his beloved son. O’Donnell will...

Chris O’Donnell to Star in ‘911: Nashville’ at ABC
Chris O'Donnell
ABC’s next 911 series has made the call for its first lead actor.

Chris O’Donnell is set to star in 911: Nashville, which ABC picked up in February with a straight-to-series order. He’s the first actor cast in the show, which is set to premiere in the 2025-26 season.

O’Donnell will play Capt. Don Sharpe, who’s described as “a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse alongside his beloved son. Don is a devoted husband and family man, but he has his secrets.”

The role for O’Donnell will be his first ongoing part since NCIS: Los Angeles ended its long run on CBS in 2023. O’Donnell played NCIS agent G. Callen for all 14 seasons of the series.

Ideas for a third series in the 911 franchise — which comes from 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television — had been floating around for several months,...

‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Casts Chris O’Donnell in Lead Role
Image
“9-1-1: Nashville” has found its leading man in Chris O’Donnell.

The “NCIS: Los Angeles” actor joins the ABC series as Captain Don Sharpe, who is described as “a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse with his beloved son,” according to official character description. While Don is described as a “devoted husband and family man,” “he has his secrets,” the description teases.

Other details regarding the plot remain under wraps, though the procedural will follow the lives of first responders in the capital of Tennessee.

O’Donnell is one of the first cast members to board “9-1-1: Nashville,” which landed a series order at ABC in late February. “9-1-1: Nashville,” which marks the third series in the “9-1-1” franchise, hails from 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television, with Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani serving as executive producers and writers.

911 Show Says Goodbye to Fan-Favorite Character
Image
The latest episode of ABC's 911 raised questions about potentially saying goodbye to fan-favorite regular Eddie Diaz.

As the greater 911 story goes through some major changes with the cancellation of 911: Lone Star, the original show still brings plenty of drama with each new episode. Ryan Guzman's Eddie Diaz is included in that drama, and he quickly worked his way to fan-favorite status after his debut in Season 2.

Eddie has been a firefighter with Station 118 for years after serving in the Army and working as a medic, now raising his young son Christopher as a single father.

‘Doc’ Renewed for Full Second Season at Fox
Image
Fox is going all-in on its first-year medical drama Doc.

The network has renewed the series, starring Molly Parker, for a second season — and the order is an old-school, 22-episode season, showing a vote of confidence after solid early returns in the ratings. Doc is averaging about 2.3 million same-day viewers, per Nielsen, but grows substantially with streaming on Hulu and other delayed viewing. Fox says the pilot episode, which aired Jan. 7, has hit 16 million viewers across all platforms (including on-air repeats).

Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment Studios produce Doc. Barbie Kligman is the showrunner and executive produces with Hank Steinberg and Erwin Stoff.

“We are thrilled that audiences have embraced season one of Doc,” Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn said in a statement. “Barbie and Hank have done an outstanding job bringing one of the most emotionally powerful series on television to life. Renewing for a second season was an easy decision,...

Tajh Bellow Off Contract at ‘General Hospital’; Actor Has Portrayed Tj Ashford On Soap Opera Since 2018
Image
After being upped to contract status in February 2022, actor Tajh Bellow (Tj Ashford) is now off contract at “General Hospital.”

According to an update to the show’s end credits on Friday, February 21, Bellow’s name was removed from the contract cast list after previously appearing between cast members Kristina Wagner (Felicia Scorpio) and Tanisha Harper (Jordan Ashford).

The change in status for Bellow doesn’t come as a surprise considering the actor seemingly gave an indication early last week when he took to his Instagram, saying, “I know a lot of my fans are wondering what’s next for Tj, but before I speak to that I wanted to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together.”

Bellow’s post highlighted his appreciation for all the support he received during last year’s tumultuous storyline which saw Tj and Molly (Kristen Vaganos) lose their daughter following a traumatic accident involving their surrogate,...

Ryan Murphy’s ‘Doctor Odyssey’ & ‘9-1-1’ Set Crossover Episode On ABC
Image
9-1-1‘s Athena Grant (Angela Bassett) is embarking on another cruise. Hopefully it won’t end like her nearly disastrous honeymoon cruise with husband Bobby (Peter Krause) when their ship capsized in the Season 7 premiere of 9-1-1. This time she’ll board The Odyssey and will meet up with the cruise ship’s Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) in a special March 20 crossover episode for Ryan Murphy’s 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey.

The meet-up occurs during Casino Week aboard The Odyssey when “unexpected guest Athena Grant (Bassett) suspects two passengers are targeting the ship’s vault. Enlisting Max’s help, Athena raises the stakes in a dangerous game where not everyone will end up with a winning hand,” per the episode’s logline.

It’s not uncommon to see crossovers on Murphy’s shows, such as 9-1-1‘s Oliver Stark (Buck), Aisha Hinds (Hen), and Ryan Guzman (Eddie...

9-1-1 will team up with another ABC drama for an unlikely crossover
Image
9-1-1 is becoming a major franchise for ABC. The same way Law and Order and One Chicago have done wonders for NBC's weekly lineup, 9-1-1 has done for its network. It's why ABC just ordered a second spinoff set in Nashville. Don't worry, though. There's more exciting news for 9-1-1 fans this week.

Variety confirmed that 9-1-1 will be staging its first ever crossover with an outside show. Instead of teaming up with, say 9-1-1: Lone Star, the first responder drama will cross paths with another Ryan Murphy helmed show, Doctor Odyssey. The crossover will take place on March 20, and see the title doctor solve a case alongside 9-1-1 stalwart Athena Grant (Angela Bassett).

9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey will stage a crossover 9-1-1 - ÒHotshotsÓ - When Athena is assigned a rookie to mentor, she begins to question her own abilities. Meanwhile, Bobby...

The 911 spin-off is a go: Where will the show be set?
Image
There is some new 911 spin-off news. We officially have another spin-off series, and it will air on ABC.

ABC has picked up the spin-off, with eyes on the 2025–2026 TV season. It’s not clear whether it will premiere in the fall or the midseason just yet. That’s likely dependent on the casting, the storyline, and the season order.

Where will the new 911 spin-off be set?

When we heard that there was a new spin-off series in the works, the big question was where it would be set. New York, Seattle, and even Hawaii seemed like potential big choices, but ABC and the gang behind 911 have chosen somewhere different.

911: Nashville is the title. Yes, we’re heading to the home of country music, which is sure to bring some exciting drama to the series. Will we see that one of the firefighters or dispatchers has a secret dream to become a country singer?...

Ryan Murphy’s ‘Doctor Odyssey’ and ‘9-1-1’ Set Crossover Episode for March (Exclusive)
Image
Athena Grant, meet Dr. Max Bankman.

On Thursday, March 20, the Ryan Murphy-created worlds of “9-1-1,” starring Angela Bassett as LAPD sergeant Grant, and “Doctor Odyssey,” led by Joshua Jackson as on-board cruise doctor Bankman, will collide in a special crossover episode of the soapy, seafaring medical drama.

Continuing “Doctor Odyssey’s” premise of each episode being centered around a different themed cruise, the action takes place during Casino Week aboard The Odyssey, and “unexpected guest Athena Grant suspects two passengers are targeting the ship’s vault,” the logline explains. “Enlisting Max’s help, Athena raises the stakes in a dangerous game where not everyone will end up with a winning hand.”

While “9-1-1” fans might be shocked to see Bassett’s Grant board a ship so soon after her and Bobby’s (Peter Krause) harrowing honeymoon cruise disaster (a three-episode emergency!) in Season 7 — but both shows hail from the house of Murphy,...

‘911: Nashville’ Spinoff a Go at ABC
Image
ABC is taking the 911 franchise to Music City.

The network has placed a series order for 911: Nashville, marking the third show in the first-responder franchise. The pickup comes on the heels of 911: Lone Star ending on Fox.

As with the other shows in the 911-verse, 911: Nashville hails from 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television. Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani will serve as executive producers and writers; Brad Falchuk and 911 star Angela Bassett are also EPs. Casting and other details will be announced later.

Ideas for a third series in the franchise have been percolating for some time, with Las Vegas floated as a potential setting. Murphy said last fall that he and Minear were working on a script for a third show, with Nashville ending up as the preferred location.

The 911 flagship moved from Fox to ABC with season seven in 2023-...

‘9-1-1’ Spinoff Set in Nashville Lands Series Order at ABC
Image
ABC’s next “9-1-1” spinoff will be set in Nashville, the network announced on Thursday. The third series in the first responder franchise has been picked up for a full season for 2025-2026.

20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television will produce the series. Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani will serve as executive producers and writers, with Brad Falchuk and Angela Bassett also executive producing.

Raisani previously told TheWrap that he had hoped to launch a spinoff featuring fan favorite couple Tk (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos (Rafael L. Silva) from “9-1-1: Lone Star,” which just ended its five-season run on Fox. He had also left the door open for a New York-based series that would follow Rob Lowe’s “Lone Star” character Owen Strand to his hometown.

Before the new location was announced, Raisani told TheWrap they’d already ruled out cities already made famous by other procedurals,...

‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Ordered to Series at ABC
Image
After the cancellation of “9-1-1: Lone Star” at Fox, there’s a new series coming to Ryan Murphy’s emergency responder franchise: “9-1-1: Nashville,” set to premiere on ABC during the 2025-2026 season.

The news follows Variety‘s October report that a new “9-1-1” spinoff was in the works.

Though plot and casting details are yet to be shared, it can be assumed that the new “9-1-1” spinoff, like the flagship series and “Lone Star, will follow the work and personal lives of a team of first responders, this time in Tennessee.

“9-1-1” was created by Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear and premiered on Fox in 2018 before moving to ABC for its seventh season in 2024. Currently on its eighth season, the series is set in Los Angeles and stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Guzman, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi and Gavin McHugh.
