  • If you love hallmark Christmas movies (or if it's your guilty pleasure) you've come to the right place. But oh my lord, the auto tune!!!!! Abusive
  • srhmathis5 December 2019
Okay so like it's your average cliche Cinderella story but I still liked it--except for the auto tune in every song oh my gosh. Like I'm sure she can actually sing I think? Why do they have so much auto tune?

It is an ok movie, but why the autotune? It ruined for me.

    Awful
It supposed to be a musical film, but every song (I mean it), EVERY song has autotune that make your ears bleed. My advice - don't waste your time.
  • Don't skip this on account of the low average. Some people hate it, true, but it's no worse than many of the Cinderella remakes of the past 20 years and it's definitely better than some.

In this version, the Cinderella character has the requisite evil stepmother & stepsisters, but she's also got a career plan that keeps her working toward her own goals. Also, she gives the 'handsome prince' a no-nonsense privilege-check when he asks her to do something that might cost her job. How often does a Cinderella character get to call out a rich boy without either agonizing over it or getting punished for it?

The musical numbers aren't particularly riveting although the comic turns of dancing elves are quite enjoyable.

    Definitely watchable with the fam.

    Warning: Spoilers
This movie was so bad that my wife, who loves the sappiest Christmas movies, fast-forwarded thru most of this one. Where to begin? 1. The aside from the lead character and her friend, the acting is way overdone. 2. Autotuned musical numbers. Nuff said. 3. Laughable villains. The "steps" come off as idiotic and predictable, not cruel and conniving, and definitely not funny. This is not Angelica Huston's or Care Blanchett's "Stepmother", and the stepsisters are utterly forgettable. Even Jane Lynch's portrayal was better. 4. The common sense and logical errors are comically bad. Using a snow globe to prove your identity? Joy wears a dress tailored to fit Kat, who is at least 6" shorter than her? And who gets a "only two of these exist" gold bracelet on an expedition to the North Pole? But the best is... 5. The "prince" can't tell who "Cinderella" is because she wears elf ears, a hat, and a pink wig. Seriously, this is a thing in this movie. He can't recognize his Starbucks barista in an elf getup that wouldn't fool Mr. Magoo and apparently neither can his friends because they don't make the connection until she loses her hat and wig. No mask, no fake nose, no disguising makeup- everyone can see her face plain as day. I hope for their sake that face blindness isn't contagious in their universe.

Overall, I rate this movie as a Twinkie: prepackaged, overprocessed, full of saccharine fluff, and memorable only for how bad it was.
  • Just another cinderella story but at least with a unique approach being she is trying to be a singer. Its worth watching and a 6/10 seems fair.
  • This movie was hilarious! not because it was Genuinely funny, but because it was done so poorly, the scripting and acting was poorly done, the singing was way over auto tuned, the dance Chorography was very stiff and childlike, overall if I could rate this a zero I would, but since I can't I will rate this a 1 cause at least it made me laugh.😂
  • So yeah, it's another one of modern teen-Cinderella stories but this time not only with singing and dancing, but also with Christmas involved. Of course it's predictable and full of cliches, but what do you expect? It's pleasant, light and generally ok, even though the leads don't have much screentime together and the chemistry is so so, some of the secondary characters are overacting (as always in Cinderella movies). But well, if know what you're getting yourself into, or you're a minor then you might like it, and there's nothing wrong with it.
  • This was not a good movie. It was bad scripting and bad acting. There would be so many ways to make it better. I most say I loved the dog though.

This lovely Christmas Cinderella story got very low marks but I really liked it and I thought the lead character was beautiful and a voice was awesome! I highly recommend this one to anybody who likes good Christmas stories.

As far as Christmas movies go, the acting was quite good! The step family are hilariously nasty and the two main characters relatable in a sickeningly sweet way. Wouldn't watch again, but worth a go!

    Warning: Spoilers
I fast forwarded all the singing parts. Just awful!!! Acting was terrible. The billionaire recognising a 2 of a kind piece from a broken snow globe within seconds. A dress that fits 2 totally different body shapes perfectly. A guy who doesn't recognise a girl because she has a wig on. Step mother actin like something from an 18 th century comedy of errors. Only gave it a 3 cause it was a cute take on the story.
  • This movie is pleasantly enjoyable, fun Christmas fluff, until they start a song. The autotune goes so far that it makes me wonder if a toddler got their hands on the equipment without anyone noticing until it hit the screen. It's a shame, too, because Laura Marano can definitely sing. It only ever got worse when they tried to pretend the characters were ACTUALLY singing. She's not an absolutely fantastic lip-syncer to start with, let alone when they're playing music that comes nowhere near something an actual human sounds like. Worth watching while making Christmas cookies though.
  • I liked it. Its clean unlike most movies now days and the music was cute and cheesy!! It was a Christmas movie all around. Not the best one of the group but I feel it's better than the last one for sure .
  • I only managed 15 minutes then I turned this off. Acting was bad and the singing and dance routines were horrendous.
  • This is another addition to the Cinderella fad that keeps spinning endlessly. Sometimes it's worse than others. This movie felt like it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously. And I didn't from the beginning to the credits rolling.

It's a Christmas addition that I'm not sure worked given when the movie premiered on Netflix. But the leads are hilarious as they try to navigate the script and dialogue. A bit off kilter considering it's predecessors. But it is a comedy of sorts. It's definitely up there with a guilty pleasures viewing that you don't want to admit you like. Watch for a good laugh.

    Cute!
This movie is super cute! I bought it on a whim when I was shopping and I actually really enjoyed it. If you want to watch a sweet and simple holiday movie, this would be a good one to try. There were moments where it was a little much but honestly it wasn't too bad. Laura Marano and Greg Sulkin were pretty good and seemed to have pretty good chemistry while acting. I think it's worth a watch :)
  • This movie was terrible. The singing is awful at best, and the autotune is hard to listen to. However, my main concern is for the dog. At the end when the step-mother and sisters are getting their comeuppance, and Cinderella is being rescued, no one ever explains what happened to the dog. It kept me up all night. But hey, at least our Cinderella got her happily every after?
  • It's not so bad but I didn't really enjoy it. If i rated 6, it's because I love the elf's costume. And because I love romance. She also sang very good.
  • Nothing to say. just horrible. That's all.

No bad words used. Simple Cinderella story a bit unreal kids would love it. I don't understand why people are giving 1 star. Grow up it's not meant for you.
  • Warning: Spoilers
It all started in 2004 with Hilary Duff, then in 2009 with Selena Gomez then in 2012 with Lucy Hale followed by Sofia Carson now in 2019 we have Laura Manuro from Austin and Ally and Greg Sulkin from Wizards Of Waverly Place(as Selena Gomez's werewolf boyfriend on the show)teaming up for a Cinderella film. Laura plays Kat an inspiring singer who wants to make it big. She works at a Christmas ghetto where she meets a handsome guy done up as Santa Clause, little does she know that his the son of a billionaire who knew Kat's deceased dad.

So will Kat get out of her stepmother and her two irritating stepsisters. If you like Sofia Carson's one mixed in with My Santa then you'll probably like it. For me it was a very cliched film but hey I love Christmas and Cinderella so it was a very harmless movie.

Another thing I want to point out is the music. It was all autotuned, plus the stepmother was just so irritating along with the two stepsisters. My advice watch Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella instead.

    5/10
  • Just awful. Script is horrible, acting is disastrous, directing was a whole crap show and a half. Also, what in the this gods given world was that autotuned, bland singing scene at the end of the movie? Would give it 0 stars if i could.
  • I think it was a cute over all movie. Musical which was fun. I just wish they didn't over process the vocals. It sounded like sad robots trying to sing. But I wish that they would have made it a little more natural.
