A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.
In an interview with Elle magazine, actress Dakota Johnson revealed the intensity of the shoot had..."fucked [her] up so much that [she] had to go to therapy."
Movement is never mute. It is a language. It's a series of energetic shapes written in the air like words forming sentences. Like poems. Like prayers.
The movie is set in the so called: "Deutscher Herbst", the peak of left-wing RAF-terror in 1977. This period was quite warm with fair weather. The movie however shows low temperatures, heavy rain and snow. While this was probably meant to underline the dark tone of the plot, it is historically incorrect.
Just before the credits end, Susie reappears and makes a small gesture to the camera.
