This is a very nice surrealist-style film. It's not weird, it just presents ideas in a surrealistic, symbolic manner. The story is nice, and the visuals are outstanding. It made me think, which is what I like. Some of the action requires the audience to interpret what is going on and what it means. It is not like a Bunuel film, it is more symbolic, not a juxtaposition of social norms. This film is very much in the style of a lot of South American films - symbolism and dreamy sequences to tell a story with depth and meaning. I wish I knew where to stream it so I can watch it again. If you can find it, you might enjoy it. I thought it was one of the best films at the Film Fest where I saw it.
Saw this back at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
Chilean cinema is something that I show be picking up on soon because this movie is really really WEIRD. The strangest movie I have seen this year so far. It felt like a weird acid dream. Director Francisca Alegria clearly is almost like the new Alejandro Jodorowsky at times as she is able to present weird visuals, weird narratives, interesting characters and some really weird dream like tones presented throughout this movie. I am really don't wanna say too much about this movie because this is the strangest movie I have seen. But I really love it.

A technically affluent and thematically enriched feature that tries to initiate a handful of pertinent discussions on a variety of issues.
From deep-seated depressions that wear us down to inquiring into sexual orientations that can prove to be a critical juncture for a worried teenager living his/her/their lives in a confused state of adolescence.
While I wholeheartedly admire their heartiest intents, the messages they wanted to convey came to be too inexact and incomplete in a sense. Now, I advocate for subtlety, given it doesn't reflect badly in the final yield.
Nuance is pleasing, but only if you can express what you want to express with the required precision and coherence; otherwise, this same nuance could quickly become a nuisance!

A pretty surreal Chilean movie.
Not much of a narrative story, more a slice of life with frequent use of symbolism to convey an ecological thematic concept and a statement about the abuse of animals for food production.
Despite the occasional, dreamlike songs from the herd of cows, I fear it's not quite the moo-sical it could've been. Sorry, couldn't resist.
This is the kind of cinematic experience that will split audiences and whilst the main message is readily understandable, it will take quite some time to understand the symbolism or reasons why the film makers chose to use them. Right now, an hour after watching it, I think I may struggle to unpack the imagery fully.

What can anyone say after such an experience? I guess one can dream a review of this film. I wouldn't know how to write one. (The system here doesn't let me post this unless it's at last 150 characters... I only wanted to write the first line.)
