- Lindsey runs down a hospital corridor until she finds the morgue, where Dr. Frank is about to perform an autopsy on someone. Lindsey begins to pressure Dr. Frank to give up the operation, claiming that the man is really alive. When Dr. Frank loses patience, he begins to push Lindsey to leave the place, when behind their backs, Marcus Kelevra jumps up, scaring Dr. Frank.
Months before, in a tavern, Marcus Kelevra receives drinks from Doris, the showgirl. Behind him, a man looks at him for a while, until he approaches, introducing himself as Dr. Anthonny Goodkat. After talking for a few moments, Dr. Goodkat gets Kelevra more intoxicated, continually ordering drinks from the hostess. Outside the establishment, a drunken Marcus Kelevra sits on the street, on the edge of the forest, and falls unconscious against a tree. Dr. Goodkat, watching everything from afar, approaches and takes him on his back. Dr. Goodkat takes him to his house, and prepares him for some medical procedure, while a cat watches them. Before the operation begins, Kelevra begins to wake up, and Dr. Goodkat sedates him, laying him down. As Marcus Kelevra reacts, his head bandaged, Dr. Goodkat, off to the side, congratulates him on the successful procedure. Kelevra reacts impulsively, hitting Dr. Goodkat, who only defends himself by saying that he has done him a favor with the operation, which surprises and calms Kelevra, who asks what he means. Dr. Goodkat tells him that he has made him immortal, and taking a scalpel from his instruments, stabs Marcus Kelevra, killing him. Upon reacting again, Kelevra is being treated for his wounds by Dr. Goodkat, who explains his surgical procedure, in which he has transplanted a cat's marrow into his brain, to transfer the nine feline lives to it. Kelevra is annoyed that he has to live longer after what he's been through, but Dr. Goodkat tries to comfort him by cheering him up. Some time later, Dr. Goodkat goes to visit his friend, Gerry Kesselring, the owner of the fair and the Kesselring's Emporium, who is distraught over a competing fair, which has been placed in front of them. Dr. Goodkat offers to add new acts to the show, and when Kesselring asks by whom, Dr. Goodkat smiles at him. Returning, Dr. Goodkat discusses the situation with Kelevra, and after convincing him of the future profits they can make, they go to see Kesselring at the fair, to present him with an act in which Kelevra would be killed in front of the audience. Seeing the determination of both, Kesselring agrees to present the act. Kelevra begins to interact with the people at the fair, in which Bordem, the magician on duty, feels an envy towards Kelevra, without foundation, but who is still supported by Gretchen, his faithful companion and tarot reader, who tries to get information from Kelevra through her divination tricks. Kelevra grows closer to Lindsey, the youngest of the troop, who wishes to leave the fair. Kelevra falls in love with her. The performance of the fair act begins, and after introducing everyone else and their respective shows, Kelevra's act is announced as the main one. Lindsey begins to wrap an electrical cord around Kelevra, inserting the plug into her mouth. With Kesselring, Dr. Goodkat on stage beside them, Lindsey pulls down the lever, electrocuting Kelevra. After a few seemingly lifeless minutes, Kelevra revives to the applause and cheers of the entire audience, Lindsey's astonishment, Dr. Goodkat's and Kesselring's calm, but Bordem's envy increasing. Kesselring gives Dr. Goodkat a nice sum of money for the act, and the two get excited about how much he will increase thanks to Kelevra, but then Dr. Goodkat scams Kelevra by giving him a minimal amount of the winnings. Disappointed, Kelevra agrees and tells Lindsey, arguing that soon, by receiving more, they could use the money to move in together. Meanwhile, Bordem and Gretchen plan something that will make them discover Kelevra's secret, determined to find out. Thinking of the promise he made to Lindsey, Kelevra devises a plan to raise money, requesting to speak with Dr. Goodkat in private. Kelevra offers him a glass of water, as he discusses his romantic plans with Lindsey, announcing that he has put poison in both glasses. Dr. Goodkat is shocked at the situation, and tells Kelevra that he will go to jail for poisoning him, and that he will waste their lives there, but Kelevra counters that if they both die, there will be no suspicion, and he will still have other lives to achieve. its mission. Dr. Goodkat tries to deny it, and show him his mistake, when they both fall into
