This COD makes me think I'm playing old school Call of Duty :) 1v1 me on rust lol
  • Certainly a vast improvement on Black OPs 3, which was frankly ludicrous and Black OPs 4. Still of the Black Ops, 2 is hard to beat.

Now they just need to tighten up the bot AI and also for the love of god get rid of sliding, its stupid, still to many people jumping around like bunnies and sliding like idiots.

Also sort out the cheats, still to many wall hacks, aimbots and such, but at least Blizzard/Battlenet seem to be sorting out their server issues. Its stupid to have to compromise your computer security to play the game before, changing your NAT to open does just that no matter what Blizzard/Battlenet say.
  • This COD is the COD I remember. Brutal and raw. Each campaign mission is like you are literally playing a movie. It's almost too brutal and traumatic. The sound design is beyond phenomenal. The voice acting is on point. The stories and characters are instantly loveable from the first minutes. Each mission I literally pause the game and question if I am playing the game or watching a cutscene.

I've only started the campaign this morning on veteran, I'm a few hours in and I think its epic. It's still on the climb and theres no sign of it ending soon love it so far
  • The graphics most definitely do NOT suck....the graphics are insanely good. This also isn't the worst call of duty ever made. In my opinion (and this seems to be the opinion of every other person that played MW and MW2) this new installment brings it back to what made call of duty the epic game we all know and loved. If you're a fan of the original modern warfares then I highly recommend grabbing this one! It's managed to go above and beyond what I thought it would in terms of game play and story. I've seen people saying it's better than the originals and I'm almost inclined to agree. It's got that gritty, raw in your face action with enough shock value to meet the needs of any fan.
  • This game is great even on console. I played it on PS4 and the graphics looked as if they were from a pc and I would recommend this game to everyone who likes a lot of stealth and operations.

This game is like playing in the movies "13 hours", "Act of Valor", and "a American Sniper" all at once. They really started from the bottom up with this game. I felt completely immersed in the campaign as it required you to make painful decisions. I really hope they continue with this story.

The CoD series has finally returned where it belongs. The new MW game is as good as the previous 3 MW games were. In terms of graphics, sound, music, voice acting, gameplay - the game is 9/10 (occasional bugs here and there). The story is actually the prequel to the previous MW games. Campaign is absolutely amazing, although very short, even on veteran difficulty, so I guess the game is aiming for the multiplayer.

In conclusion I should say I don't regret a single dime I've spent for this game and watching Barry Sloane's performance as captain Price was as good as it could be!
  • Whoever Voting this with a 1 Star is probably the one who is dying the most in every Round.

This Game is by far the best COD from the last Years. It is a Classic COD without all of this Science Fiction things.

Very similar to a Battlefield Game what i loving the most as a Battlefield Veteran.

Graphics are great and i had not a single bug or crash since Release.

If you like a good Shooter, Buy it.

Edit Update after 2 Weeks: Sadly i have the feeling they destroyed it since release. It is the Beta Gameplay again where you die to fast. Can t walk for more than 5 seconds without dying from a Camper in Ground War. absolutely stupid.
  • It is hard to say when or if Call of Duty is back, but Modern Warfare is definitely a gem out of the track.

The story establish a new roost of interesting characters alongside old favourite faces. The sense of urgency follows the player throughout a variety of missions that bring new mechanics and unique situations.

Modern Warfare has something for every type of player. Old fans will be pleased with the references and new takes on familiar characters. Beyond that, the game presents an engaging narrative with memorable moments and a foundation that may suggest a future continuation.

The multiplayer and co-op also return as it's best for the franchise. The weapons are balanced and really have some weight. The character movement has also been revamped with a new grounded animation and the photorealistic graphics contributes to a lifelike atmosphere.

The progression system is intuitive and deep. The player really feel the achievement of every unlocking of levels and weapons. There is a variety of maps and modes that extend the game's life and bring new ideas to the tradicional list of activities.

This new installment is a welcome dose of fresh air for everyone that was waiting for Call of Duty to return for its former glory.
  • Review Edit August 2020:

My main critisim of Modern Warfare's horrendous map design still stands. However, over its life cycle, the amount of free content and substantial updates released is very commendable. Included are many better but still not great maps, many of which remakes of old ones, new interesting weapons, game modes, and of course Warzone, which I think is one of the better BR modes out there. Its outstanding variety has come to be it's biggest strength. I was going to raise the score to a 7/10, but with all of these updates, as we know, the game has bloated into an insane 200 GB file size. This is outrageous and there is no excuse. I don't care if you can split it up for Campaign, MP, and so on. It's an issue of laziness and inefficiency with it's coding structure and is, frankly insulting to people with limited hard drive space. For that reason, I lowered the score back to a 6/10, average on my scale. If the CoD continues on this path with this business model while rediscovering good map design and playstyle variety demonstrated by Black Ops 2, I believe that future titles could be legitimately great games as well as finncaial successes.

    Review at release:

Single Player: Their campaign they put together was above average and I appreciate it staying grounded in reality, touching on some concivible Modern problems, albiet while making some aggressive attempts to shock you. It is also very short, less than 5 hours. Multiplayer:

-2v2 Gunfight is complety lacking creativity and is not a flagship mode for the future, despite this game's greath gunplay. -GroundWar is an aimless disaster with no resemblence of strategy, map control, battle lines, or meaningful cooperation on 2 equally awful maps. -Regualar MP is refined in most ways with the exception of Custom Class which is lacking in depth despite the huge amount of weapon attachments, which overall makes a neglagable imapct on your weapon. THE BIGGEST ISSUE by far with Modern Warfare is the maps! I hated every single one of them besides maybe Azir Cave, which is only tolerable. They aren't "chaotic", but they are all designed in a way that makes advancing to new positions impossible, which ruins all objective game modes. Every time you turn a corner there are 15 different places you can get shot from and it makes camping the only viable playstyle, even for TDM. This problem is un-fixable and destroys almost every type of experience you can have, and more casual players WILL get fed up with it soon enough, even though they aren't right now. As someone who has played CoD since MW2, there are things I expect in regards to balence that you probably won't pick up on untill you've played the game longer. The maps are a complete deal breaker for me, the worst in any video game I've ever played.
  • The gameplay is real good, the storyline is decent and well acted. But my god... the updates are shocking and plentiful! It seems every time you go to play, there's a 3 hour update here, or a 6 hour update there. This kills any replay-ability for me.

If the updates weren't so often and a vortex of wasted time, this would have been an 8/10.

    10/10
    Perfect
Best code ever made Campaign 10/10 Multiplayer 10/10 Spec ops 9/10
  • In MW 2019 Activision finally listened to the fans removed all jet-packs and other trash cyberpunk futuristic bs that most fans hated (I am one of the few that found the future s annoying but playable and fun over the original modern warfare story-line or the World at War, Call of Duty Black Ops 1 & 2 story saga (I still have no idea why BO3 was called BO3). Micro-transactions have been taken out except for cosmetics. Game-play is great especially multiplayer with new maps and a lot of maps bringing back memories of COD 4. My biggest gripes with this games are the laggy servers incredibly large download size for Warzone and Modern Warfare which they attempted to fix with the game size decreasing update by uninstalling packs thank God. For the Campaign I won't say anything except that the voice acting is great and it has some of the best triple AAA graphics ever. Captain Price is back (LFGG) and I have no complaints however if you notice cut-scene or speech lag change the audio systems like Boost -> Theater hope that helps if your on Console. Farah Karim adds diversity and a great character to the campaign.

    5 out of 5 stars.

Modern warfare reboot does deliver a fresh awesome campaign. With realistic graphics. Different take on the story unless i cant remember the first modern warfare campaign years ago. Graphics are great. Controls are easy. Fun missions. Online is fun as well. Still trying to get used to warzone.

    Warning: Spoilers
There is really one word I can think to describe the campaign of this game. Intense. The game takes place in the fictional country of Urzikstan, but it is rather apparent that the real life parallel is that of Syria. There are many instances of "morally grey" choices that appear throughout the game, that add depth, but at times seems to beat you over the head. The lack of a soundtrack in many integral parts of the campaign, mainly the mission "Clean House" really dials up the immersion and intensity factor. This rarely gets credit in all media, but the sound design is absolutely exceptional in this game! Playing the game on veteran or realistic difficulty also cranks up the intensity. It's honestly a breath of fresh air from previous COD titles that the campaign isn't just a constant run and gun fueled Micheal Bay movie. What I respect most about this title is their ability to capture the toll that civilians take during a conflict. It's something that war games rarely touch on and it was an important aspect I was glad to see. The mission "Hometown" exemplifies this with playing as a little girl in a city being bombed and attacked by the Russians, although the encounter with the roided out Russian in farah's house seemed rather hokey and took away from this feeling. On this topic there is a sort of tragic irony that is very apparent in this game. Other reviews pointed out the blatant Russophobia that is constant in this game. I find it ironic how Barkov labels all the Urzikstani as terrorists when it is clearly not the case and yet in the same game we see the Russian forces committing war crime after war crime without a single soldier questioning their morality. The game is already out and there's nothing infinity ward can do about it now but it would have been interesting to have defectors from Barkov's forces fighting alongside farah and Alex to address this element of Russophobia in the game, rather than labeling the all Russian soldiers as mindless killers. All that being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign and was happy to see infinity ward making a more gritty game and challenging themselves rather than adhering to the generic FPS mold.
  • The multiplayer is where its at as its the most popular part of the games. There's hardly any lag and you can play with other players on other consoles with cross play. Very well done, Activision, well done.
  • Big fan of the campaign...but no one ever buys this franchise's game for that.

Multiplayer (MP) needs SO MUCH WORK. Due to developer attempts at a 'realistic' FPS, they created a trend of stationery play. Most popular complaints about the gameplay are legitimately hurting MP (i.e. loud footsteps, reduced ttk, slowed ads speed, Windows everywhere, gunshot mini map pings, ghost, etc).

That being said, many of these flaws are fixable and I have faith in the developers that they will listen to their community (Devs have already acknowledged some of these problems on social media). Once the main issues are corrected, MP has potential to be great. Gunfire feel is really cool and gunsmith provides a lot of strategic customization.

Disclaimer: All the people reviewing this game 10/10 right off the bat are probably trash at this game and too old to play (They're also reviewing the campaign mostly). If you want feedback that represents legitimate popular opinion in the cod community, don't look on this review platform. Look at Reddit or Twitter.

    Warning: Spoilers
It was 2009 And I first played Morden warfare 2 in the series it blew me away very violent for my age it was the perfect game to introduce me to the series Now 10 years later A masterpiece has been conceived Very Realistic Pure violent its R16 in my country i would agree Their London mission scenery is very accurate The cop uniform is spot on you will be blown away with how good this game is I spent hours on this game I loved it Very much
  • What a class campaign, the graphics are unbelievable. Multiplayer needs a lot of work but it's still just about playable.
  • Here's my honest review...

If anyone has both a ps4 and pc/xbox and are contemplating getting it for ps4 just because of survival, then don't bother because it's a big let down. I was genuinely really looking forward to the mode, which is why I picked it up for ps4. It's nothing like MW3 survival, enemies spawn far too close and too fast, the laptops for equipment can't be used during rounds, so I find myself always having to drop guns I've bought because I've ran out of ammo, and because there's only 30 seconds between each round, I can never purchase what I want before the new round starts. Then There's also no split-screen, no delta or riot squads, and no announcer like in mw3. So it just feels dead. It really is an half assed mode compared to MW3. Also there's currently only 3 maps, and It lacks a dedicated progression for survival like it did on mw3, there's no actual unlocks. It's just linked to your real level progression.

However the multiplayer is actually pretty good, sane goes for the campaign and I've found that the actual spec ops missions to be quite fun to do, especially with friends. So for that, it is a decent game, which is why I'm giving it a solid 7/10, not perfect but good, probably the best COD for some while.

Overall I just hope they can add split screen for Co-OP and maybe alter survival, to resemble MW3's... So 7/10
  • The campaign in this game is one of the best I've ever played out of any game, just fantastic. However the multiplayer was a massive letdown with the poor maps, awful netcode and tedious gameplay not being at all what I expected. Developers have yet to acknowledge the massive gun balance issues with this game, with only 2 guns really being used (you know the ones). Recent patches have failed to sort out this issue and I think they are now acting like it's a job well done whereas they have only made it worse.

The gameplay encourages you to be 'tactical' which in theory I have no problem with - it sounded great when they revealed their plans for this game. However in practice it just doesn't work, with the game being basically camp or die - I know this has been moaned about a million times but I've yet to find any sort of argument that counters this. The netcode is one of the worst I have had the displeasure of experiencing, with so many shoot first die first moments I just couldn't take it any more and uninstalled. I have tried my best to squeeze any sort of fun out of the multiplayer but every time I load it up I feel angry and frustrated after playing it.

Ground War was a sort of attempt at taking on Battlefield's conquest gamemode, but the theory of capping and defending objectives just doesn't work with this game. Most of the objectives are random open spaces with no relevance to the map layout and there is absolutely no motivation for you to capture them. Even worse is the fast ttk, making going for objectives suicide due to the fact you will be picked off easily from someone sitting in a building the whole time. Vehicle balance is non-existent with the tanks being 1 shots at all ranges with only close quarter counters, which inevitably leads to them camping on hills picking off unsuspecting enemies from a mile away. Driving them is hilariously clunky, with it reminding me of vehicles in an old IOS game. I have also no idea why they are in 3rd person view rather than 1st person, as this enables you to just look round a corner or over a wall without exposing yourself and making them even more advantageous.

It might just be me but pinpointing enemies locations is extremely hard, with bullet sounds not matching where the enemy is shooting from, making for a confusing and enraging experience. Footsteps are ridiculously loud, with crouch-walking making the sound of a dead fish slapping the pavement every time you step forward. Enemy callouts is possibly one of the worst gameplay additions I have ever seen, with your soldier screaming at the top of their lungs every time an enemies ankle is briefly shown on your screen, leading to either you being heard by the enemy and promptly shot or you being left confused after seemingly not seeing anything, and scanning the area worriedly for the 1mm of enemy shoe that your eagle eyed soldier has somehow spotted from a mile away. Claymores literally litter the battlefield, with them instantly vaporizing you from random directions without any time to react so God help you if you decide to enter a building of an enemy objective.

The 4 stars in this review are just for the campaign - which I highly recommend you play if this game is on a large sale, otherwise it is definitely not worth the £50 (or $65) just to play it. Save your sanity by not playing the multiplayer - if you manage to get some enjoyment out of it props to you, but after sinking dozens of hours of my time into this I cannot bear to play it any longer.
  • Wow. Just wow. All I can say. The storytelling, the grit, the darkness, the graphics, the sounds, and most importantly, the REALISM of this campaign is astonishing. They really outdid themselves with this one. This campaign puts you in other people's shoes with different deadly situations. This campaign makes you make decisions quickly or it will decide for you. Some things in this game is the dark hard truth about what happens in real life. This campaign doesn't care what anyone says, doesn't care what the critics are going to say, and doesn't care about sympathy. It gives us, the players, a kind of understanding of what real soldiers and victims, of these things, go through. Well done Infinity Ward, well done.
  • I've played this game on pc and the game has very realistic graphics. This was actually my first time buying a Call Of Duty game this game made me become a cod fan :). The campaign has a very strong storyline with very memorable characters. I have also played Black Ops Cold War and there is a difference between these two games. Even though Cold War was made in 2020 with better advantage of being a better game, Modern Warfare 2019 destroys Cold War in terms of notice to details of graphics and have a better storyline.
