I'm a 48 year old man who still loves his cartoons. Kipo caught my attention just by the animation alone.
Very well written, funny, emotional. Enjoyable for all.

I love the characters and especially the main character Kipo :) I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys their animated shows and wants to have a good time.

nasdagoodshepherd16 January 2020Kipo and The Age of Wonderbeasts is one of the best shows ever made from DreamWorks Television Anination and Netflix. I does remind me a lot like Avatar: The Last Airbender, in fact, the animation reminds me a lot like not only Avatar, but also great shows like Voltron: Legendary Defender, She-Ra: Princess of Power (2018), and The Legend of Korra. Also, both the story and the characters are really nice too. I think it's best for me to recommend this show to anyone. I give it a 9.5/10

graceayoub13 October 2020Kipo and the age of Wonderbeasts it's probably one of the best cartoons I've watched in a while. The colors they use are so vibrant and fun and the music choices are phenomenal. The balance of color and music is just out of this world and that alone makes the show great. The plot is brilliant and so intriguing and the pacing of the show is so so good. each season just gets better and better. I didn't think they could get better than season 2 and they proved me wrong. Watch the show you'll love it. See for yourself how just great this wonderful show is. My only thing is I wish it was you longer. There are a few questions I still have but they're so nitpicky I won't even get into them. I just wish we had more time with these awesome characters.

The premise is interesting, the characters are nicely defined and ultimately very interesting, and the story quite fascinating and fresh.
The music used is also quite incredible and really helps to draw you into the world. -
ericamcnlly17 January 2020This show went absolutely above and beyond my expectations. While I went in thinking it might be an enjoyable watch when I've got nothing better to do, I've now seen the whole first season and am on the edge of my seat waiting for more! The animation is pleasing to watch, the voice acting is perfect, the characters are diverse and have well-written and intriguing backstories, and the overall feel is exciting and fun, but with darker undertones that really ramp-up the experience for older viewers. On top of all that being enough to keep me engaged, the music is exceptionally well-chosen and clearly had a lot of thought put into it, giving me a mixed vibe of Steven Universe's Rebecca Sugar songs, and oddly enough, the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack. Overall I'd say this is a great family show for tween/teenaged kids and any adult looking for a playful escape that isn't mindless like many cartoons made nowadays.

Some people complain about 'politics' in the show, but they're referring to a single moment where one character tells another that they are gay, which is apparently 'too political' for the commenters.
This show is a true gem. If you liked Dreamworks' prior Netflix cartoons, you will love this.
Get into it before the Reddit crowd ruins the ratings with a mass protest against it. -

I believe that the show has a lot of potential to be loved. You all should give it a chance before judging, otherwise you'll never know.

arablooali26 October 2020So i started watching it since the first season got released the first season was very good showing a post apocalypse world different animal different thinking and behavior and good fight scene season 2 wasn't as great as season 1 but still had deep plot but i believe everything god messed up in season 3 they just finished the show as fast as they could wondering why people loved the last season because in my opinion it's the worst one but still it's not a bad show if you love post apocalypse movies or seires

Both Kiddos really enjoyed all three seasons of this show, and went through them pretty quickly - though they do rank it below She-Ra and Avatar. I watched most of the episodes, and for me, Kipo is just such a fabulous character, with her combination of exuberance and strong sense for what's right, that she steals the show. The idea of humans learning how to live side-by-side with mutant animals is a nice change from the usual concern in science fiction with robots and artificial intelligence, and the idea of REVERSE genetically engineering them back to "normal," and thus taking away their mind, is also really original. Though it is also problematic in that it under-emphasizes the sentience of the animals we live with today. It was also interesting that the apocalypse itself is never discussed--in my view, unfortunate choice. Finally, if you enjoyed this show, check out Nausicaa and the Valley of the Winds, from 1984, which has a very similar plotline: a heroine tries to re-unite humanity and the mutated natural world (toxic jungles and giant insects) some centuries after an apocalyptic event.

BigDaddy40004 May 2020When i watched the first few minutes of the first episode i though it would be this gritty post-apocalyptic adventure series, and that got me really excited beause we dont really have a lot of animated cartoons out there like that, and the sad part is that the show was ALMOST that but in the end it fell just short. My main gripe is that the show is just too goofy for me to take it seriously, the majority of the episodes i watched was mostly about "woohoo! Were escaping anthropomorphic frogs! This is totally epic!" every time i felt like i was actually going to like the show it just threw something silly at the screen and completely lost my attention. Now look, im not saying everyone is going to hate this show, i can actually see the appeal (especially for kids) its got great animation, voice acting and well flushed out characters, even though i wasnt a big fan of it i would still recommend checking it out.

I had to binge EVERY episode as soon as I seen the trailer I was kinda interested but let me tell ya guys and gals this series is worth the watch. Kipo will reels you into this fantasy world that has some comedic and tragic events. Music:10/10 Story:9/10 Animation:10/10

bhermann-4060831 March 2020The fact that the protagonist's voice actor also voices Glimmer in the new She-Ra series is the original reason I began watching this series. I was wowed by the visuals, the story, and the thrilling adventure this series brought me on. I'd highly recommend it to anyone. It has some LGBTQ representation, mainly through Benson, who is a gay character. Apart from that, this series has a well-developed story, characters, and everything else, like humor and a compelling narrative which will draw you in like a magnet. I love this show as much as Cleopatra in Space, it's just that the latter show has more world building, more characters, and can be more snappy. It's a hard decision to put this at its current rating, but it makes sense.

BoxwoodExpress15 January 2020Hey, it's about time Glimmer got her own show! This is Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts - First Impressions.
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, created by How to Train Your Dragon 2 story artist Radford Sechrist, takes place in a world where mutated animals have taken over, and nature has swallowed the ruins of human civilization. While some human survivors remain on the surface, most have descended into underground communities known as burrows. After Kipo's burrow is attacked by a mysterious giant mutant animal, she manages to escape to the surface.
There, she makes friends with Wolf, Benson, Dave, and Mandu, and they go on journeys of exploration together.
Can I just say that this show's story is well-crafted. Everything fits together so perfectly, and there's a lot of lore and world-building. The characters work off each other well, their backstories are touching, and their interpersonal relationships are examined in great detail.
The animation reminds me of anime, and has pretty nice shading. I also like that the show is driven by music. The character Benson loves music, and the main character Kipo writes and performs her own original songs. This show has one of the most memorable soundtracks I've seen in a cartoon since Ready Jet Go. Pop, hip-hop, it's good stuff.
But of course, a show like this isn't without its flaws. To get the elephant out of the room, this show is boring. Seriously, even though the episodes are good, they take a million years to get finished, which is bizarre because the episodes only last 22 minutes. I think this show should be 11 minutes instead of 22 minutes. I have a preference for 11 minute shows because they are quick and easy to binge, whereas with half-hour shows, they consume a good portion of your time and are harder to binge. Then again, I've only seen half the episodes of the show, so maybe the show will pick up the pace in the second half. Anyways, that's it for this review. If you like Adventure Time or She-Ra, definitely check out the show. -
ganielpeep19 January 2020Fun take on the post apocalyptic world. Beautifully drawn. Tackles some issues you'd never expect a show like this to address, like what happens to the rest of the characters if our lead gets fhe happy ending she wants. My family tore through the first season in two days. Well worth a watch. I'd give it 8.5 if that was an option. Not sure how long the show can run but I'll enjoy the ride at least for this early portion. Looking forward t ok season 2. My nine year old daughter loved this! The 5 yrs old couldn't really follow the whole story but still enjoyed watching

Sanbles18 January 2020The art is insanely good. The world building is amazing. Its the biggest shame because the story is predictable and boring. The plot is super forced by the characters making silly decisions. I assume the budget went into the background and character designs because the animation was really lacking in a lot of places although there were a couple scenes that were satisfying to watch from an animation perspective. There was an interesting theme about class structure i thought was going to be explored, but it didnt go very deep. It wasnt a big deal since this is a childrens show and you cant expect too much on that front. I guess i was expecting more given i was a fan of Radford's work. If you like appreciating great art in a show with cliched characters and sorta budgeted animation, go watch it!

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts creates an interesting post-apocalyptic world that it immediately dumps the viewer into without warning. You are made to feel as confused as Kipo at the beginning when she slides out of a pipe into a post-apocalyptic world filled with fantastical beasts and beautiful scenary.
But then, Kipo opens her mouth. And, it never closes. It goes on and on and on. And then she meets a friend named Wolf. Wolf HATES Kipo. Or does she? Kipo is about to die. But then Wolf saves her. Kipo says something dumb. Wolf says, "I'm not going to save you." Wolf saves Kipo. Wolf's only going to help Kipo a little, she swears. Oh wait, she's going to do everything for Kipo. Wolf is the predictable character that hates everything and always predictably comes to Kipo's rescue. And then there's Benson and his bug buddy. They're the comic relief. They're buds, but they also steal. But they're so likeable! They're so likeable, you won't even remember that you didn't laugh at anything they ever did. And did we even mention the villains? They're frogs in suits. That's great? There's also a pig.
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts has a well thought out world that is filled with bland, uninspired characters and villains. Every character is so trite and predictable that it completely ruins any interest in the story as it is apparent where it is going. The humor is low quality and I cannot recall laughing a single time. Compare this to a show like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls, which are gold standards of what modern cartoons can be: In those, the humor is on-point, the characters are interesting and distinct, and the plots riveting and unpredictable (at least, when invoked in Adventure Time).
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts doesn't have that. The whole thing feels like a cacophony of influences ripped from popular shows in an attempt to gain some of their success, such as Avatar: The Last Air Bender and Spiderman: Enter the Multiverse. Except, where those shows were interesting and original, Kipo just feels like a trite, unnatural, and empty imitation. It has all the feeling, but none of the substance.
Also, the frame rate is noticeably low. For all the beauty in the world, it's animated choppily. -
Keeryw5216 October 2020Kipo is a beautiful, emotional and unique show that is unlike anything I've seen before. I love it's worldbuilding and huge cast of characters, and the music, the music is outstanding!!! Some of the best original music from a cartoon. The show can feel slow, particularly in the early season 2 episodes, but it evolves into a masterpiece by season 3 (a wonderful ending and the best season in my opinion). It has diversity, representation, and fantastic characters. A total standout from Netflix and a gem of 2020. Cartoons this decade will be hard pressed to match the standard of the Age of Wonderbeasts!!
