  • De Gales Hus is not a bad movie. It is mildly touching at times, almost sad, almost funny, almost interesting, but not quite.

It tries to tackle a very difficult subject, and does give a little bit of insight into the dark reality of deep depression. The movie puts forth how a mental illness is in fact an _illness_ and thus can happen to anyone, and argues how everyone's got problems, but some might have a more difficult time learning how to cope, for various reasons.

But ultimately the movie falls into a trap of feel-good simplicity. The somewhat similar "Kunsten å tenke negativt" (also starring Fridtjov Såheim) did a much better job at this a couple of years back.
