  • Jasenovac was a factory for killing the Serbs, but the worst thing about it are methods Ustashas used for it. It was a competiton between them who will find more brutal way of killing. For everyone that is interested in this topic you can find interviews of Nedeljko Goga, artist that was in Jasenovac as a kid.
  • While the film has excellent shots, with the lighting and camera working to achieve full immersion, the spectacle tends to drown the story in gory details. For a domestic audience, this is a common theme and it can be considered passe, but it is a historic drama and should be viewed as such, especially as it shows the parts of the Holocaust that are not as familiar to foreign viewers.

Overall, this is definitely a movie that lovers of historic pieces shouldn't miss, as it tells a story that should be told. One might dismiss the story for the corniness and often misguided focus, but the events are based on facts and the general impact is quite emotional.
  • I am just speechless after watching this movie . Incredible sad after watching what humans are capable to do. This move made me wonder why was Jasenovac story not published before ? Why the truth was hidden from the rest of the World

This is a reminder that evil is perpetrated by both those that commit evil acts and those that do nothing.

    So true
My grandparents are from town Kozarska Dubica(near Jasenovac former Yugoslavia, today Bosnia and Herzegovina). Town they are from lost the most population in WWII. They told me so many stories that are so sad. May grand grand father was prisioner in Jasenovac. He servived all that eveil in Jasenovac. I belive in good people and i belive that this kind of eveil will never happen again but we cant forget all those inocent people that were killd by Nazi and By Independet Croatian state in WWII. All those who writte that this movie is not talling the truth are just so mean as those who commite the crime over inocent people. There is monumant and museuem in Jasenovac and also in Donja Gradina( also museum in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and there you can see so many pictures and books and then you will be awere what kind of crime Nazis and Crotians commited over inocent people. ( serbs, jewish and gypsis) may all you R.I.P
  • In the name of remembering my grandmother who was a detainee in Jasenovac and who managed to escape. Her sister did not have that luck with 12 of her children who were all slaughtered in that horrible camp. My grandmother never talked about that time because she did not want us to hate Croatian people.
  • I am struck by the truth, and this film is a truth about crimes that must not be repeated!!
  • This is best movie of 21st century. That's it. I was really enjoy every moment of this masterpiece
  • Let's be honest here. Theme or general topic in the movie is so sad, something that should and must be respected, those sad sceneries, people suffering, being killed, punished etc. When we talk about that, this movie showed violence in such a realistic way, rating those things its 10/10. But, full assessment of the movie should include composition of the movie, storyline, acting, depth of the story and characters and talking about that, this movie lacks talent on some of the younger actors. Storyline is so shallow. fast paced and characters are not fully described, most of them just appear and disappear and emotions cannot be born in such a brief period of time. Director of the movie failed to bring us some story like in Shindler's list for example, and ending is... quite unsatisfying, somehow pointless. Pay respect to all the people that were killed and punished during WW2 in Ustashes prisons, but rating the movie, more than 7 is unrealistic.

I'll state the obvious, the flaws of this film are not as important as the message it sends. However, the directory of the film is quite poor. Scenes which should provoke fear and goosebumps are broken up and distasteful music was used, so some scenes did not reach their full potential. Also the time stamps were not confusing because there weren't any, so you're left to guess for yourself when's what happening. And lastly the acting. It must've been hard for the actors as they're all somehow personally connected to the story but from a critics view, the acting was very stiff. Not from all actors of course, but it felt like you were watching a film and you were not in the moment with them. But the cruelty of the war and the evil that was did come through in most scenes. All in all we should be glad that the film was made, but it could've been made loads better. Let's hope this is a breakthrough for more film makers in the Balkans to educate others what really happend.
  • In nazi regime, so called "Independent state of Croatia" during the WW2. Any human being should watch this film.
  • This is a film difficult to watch without feeling for the victims upon whom so much violence was inflicted. The film tells about factual and yet mostly unknown parts of. WW2 which happened on Croatian soil by some Croations who contributed to the Nazi crimes during the war. The scenes of merciless violence would shock anyone deeply. Still there are people tring to survive the terror giving us hope about humanity. All throughout the film, I pondered about the question of crime, punishment and justice. I wonder if any of the perpetrators were brought to justice and how they could live their lives after inflicting so much pain. I personally think the film honestly tried to shed some light into the darkness of a part of history: However, it had some flaws in script and I found it excessively deamatic at some scenes. The ratings given to the film are quite exaggerated for reasons I think I understand. Finally, I can say this is a decent film about human vice and virtue. It is totally worth watching.
  • A nice budget and support for the project of historical importance but poorly executed. A movie that should reflect on some of the worst atrocities in Balkans during WW2 has so little to tell. Uninventive, with no proper character development and most importantly - no good story and screenplay behind. Good actors and good camera could not do much for this movie not to be so flat.

Very good movie with a real history facts. Actore are perfect as well
  • I cannot believe I have not heard of this before!! Nowhere in my history books at GCSE or A-Level was there any mention of the amount of Serbs killed by Croats and Muslims during WW2. I cannot believe this was hidden. How little we all know of real true history.

This film will keep you weeping. After this pandemic passes, I will definitelly visit Serbia with my family.

    Love from UK Darren

Really soul touching movie. Great script, great acting and correct use of historical facts.
  • Story that has never been told before. Torments, deaths and devastation in the middle of II ww Europe.
  • Finally true will come out. After a years of silence hopefully world will come to know what's happened and learn lessons for the future. Never again war.
  • Sad story about Serbian girl in concentration camp in Croatia. World have to see the truth.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Movie that made a lot of dust here in Balkan's, for not movie reasons. Jasenovac killings are event and this is something that we should never forget. same as Auswitz, same as Armenina genocide, Srebrenica, etc etc ...

whole movie is so so, something big is missing i think production ain't on best level either, actors that portrait Croatian soldiers could do much better they should try harder,

Little girl that portrays Dara did amazing job, as other kids also did, it is bright part of movie,...

how much story in movie is relevante to real hapening in WW2 is not me to judge, i know there were killing and who did them and who was the victim,

as summary this wasnt movie for oscars, sorry guys...

but i recomend this movie to anyone who does not know much about suffering of civilians durgin Ustashe regime ...
  • The great historical theme is very poorly presented.
  • Every word is superfluous. I can watch over and over...
  • Although its depiction of violence often overshadows the underlying messages of racism and fascism, 'Dara of Jasenovac' is still a well-crafted exploration of the survival of the human spirit. The movie is exquisitely shot. The light throughout is never garish, and it beautifully illuminates the actors inhabiting the bleak setting. Strong performance by lead actress Biljana Cekic and the rest of the cast is brilliant in their own right as well.
  • Haven't seen so bad storyline in a while. I just quit watching around 30th minute of the film... Film is simply unwatchable.

I don't understand why it has such high marks?
