Well, you either hate it or love it. For me it's the latter. As a hallmark mystery murder fan I loved it, the humor was pretty dark and vulgair. Don't expect a real serious murder she wrote. The mysteries are too short, around 30 minutes each. The biggest problem I had with this series, it was on QUIBI so every episode was about 10 minutes, it's really a shame, QUIBI has some pretty funny/decent series, but the cut-up into small pieces it just awful. I do hope this series will get a second season (and from there we'll see if it deserves a third) on a service like Netflix or Amazon, with each mystery as one full episode increased from 30 minutes to around 45 minutes, like the original murder she wrote on which this satire is based.
  • Very silly humour and lots of cameos. If you like 30 Rock, Angie Tribeca and Murder She Wrote then this is for you.
  • I can tell this series is not for everyone. This is the first series I've seen on Quibi and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The plots are ridiculous, the jokes are corny, and the physical comedy is on point. I couldn't help but laugh out loud. And I love the relationship between Ms. Mapleworth and Heidi (her niece).

I can't decide if I'm pitiful or not because I can't stop watching.
  • I looked forward to every new episode of this show. The cast is a who's who of great comedians, the writing is funny and very goofy. And I loved the touch of mystery. I hope this show gets picked up by another network!
  • The hammy overacting and the screaming their lines like we are in a huge theater and their are no microphones is really annoying. Love the humor, everybody in this is funny or witty and talented in one way or another. I belly laughed a lot. They should pursue the love angle between abby and gil or why is their so many murders in new England?
  • I gave it a 5 simply because I had a mild chuckle now and then but it's pretty lame with old, obvious jokes and gags, stiff, unfunny and stereotyped performances and odd pacing. I mean "That's a strong password" was the comedic height of the first episode.
  • A ridiculous, funny and short version of Murder She Wrote. If you looking for high brow entertainment, don't look here. But if you have sense of humor, want a quick laugh go for it. Is like a snow ball going down a hill...starts okay and then gets funnier as it goes in. Episode 4 is when Show starts to hit its stride
  • This take-off on Murder she wrote is kind of funny. At first I liked it. It was spritely and had a tasteless cheeriness to it. Paula Pell breezes through the role, Hayley Magnus is fun as her instagramming sidekick, and there are a wealth of known faces as guest stars.

Sometimes it's funny, but there is a lot of low humor that is more cringy than funny, and a lot of very obvious jokes that are way too familiar.

After watching the first mystery and a bit of the second I found that my annoyance with the worst of this was overshadowing my amusement at the best of it. So I gave up.

    I can't really recommend it.

    Why
The only thing I can say is that its it's absolutely dreadful and that's being kind.

This Quibi series is brilliant in it's delivery of characters, dialog, plot, comedy, and one-liners. The one-liners will have you with paper & pen trying to write them all down.

Paula Pell is perfectly cast as Abigail Mapleworth, which is a wonderful satire of 'Miss Marple' and all those murder mysteries Miss Marple solved. J.B. Smooth as 'Police Chief Billy Bills' - will have you in laughing. Each guest character does their best because they all appear to be having fun in this murder mystery farce.

Catch this series as it will disappear quickly 'in my opinion'.
  • Paula Pell is still underrated and under appreciated to this day. Her performance as Abigail Mapleworth was terrific. She plays her like Dame Angela Lansbury's Jessica Fletcher. She lives in a small town with a high crime rate of murders. The town is full of funeral homes tied with restaurants. You can have a taco and pay your respects. The short twelve episodes is a parody of murder mystery shows. Paula Pell is joined by plenty of Saturday Night Live alums. Abigail is joined by her Australian niece. I love how they don't take themselves too seriously. It's fun to watch them play one dimensional characters though. It's a good laugh though.
  • Warning: Spoilers
This is not helped by the Quibi format! Sorry as bad this show is having it broken in 7 minutes episodes only made it far worse to watch! Second fatal flaw in this show is American writers cannot pull off a British style mystery comedy! This show is no Midsomer Murders or Agatha Raisin mystery comedy! The hammy overacting by the main cast gets old very very quickly! As for Hayley Magnus her poor imitation of an Australian accent is simply horrid and off more like a bad fake Boston accent! The writers also failed at trying to merge Jessica Fletcher and Agatha Raisin in the main character Abigail Mapleworth played by Paula Pell. The law enforcement a sheriff and deputy is consist of two Barney Fife type characters which fails without having a straight man type Andy Griffith to play off. There is nothing new in this show just old ideas re-wrapped up trying to be passed off as new and cutting edge acting.
  • This show was well written and just plain fun. I would really like to see more episodes written. In this format it would be hard to deep dive into all characters in twelve episodes. So this is not an in-depth show, yet they did manage to develop intriguing characters that could expand their relationships in future shows. Mapleworth Murders was a hilarious bright spot each day I watched.
  • While there are a few chuckles here and there, the show just misses the mark. The show has some good foundational ideas, but it just comes off awkward and cheap in practice. And while the main cast is good, JB Smoove is just out of place as the police chief or whatever his role is. The frequent guest stars are meant to be enjoyable, but they are often just distracting.

In the end, this felt like an SNL digital short that went on for way too long, and got brought back too many times.

Won't be expecting (or watching) a second season.
  • This is a goof-ball type of show, along the lines of Angie Tribecca. Everything is like an homage to Police Story.

Having sais that, I loved it. This is exactly my kind of dumdum humour. There are tons of visual gags, and the lesbian-humour is also very cute and clever. It's a real shame that they aren't making more of these.
  • "Mapleworth Murders" is yet another example of why I prefer British humour to American.

The key reason is UK humour is "actually funny" whilst we get ghastly rubbish like this cheesy codswallop from the USA. Its loud, low IQ, brash aping of the show Angela Lansbury made famous, is just embarrassing.

Whats even more embarrassing is they actually thought this was a a good idea to start with.

In my view one to avoid.

    1/10.

For those who mourn Murder She Wrote, this is a campy send up of that series.

It is over the top - the detractors were expecting something else, perhaps?

    OMG!
    It's AW-FUL!!

    really, truly, bad!

    Just don't bother.
  • Funny! And so great to see surprise visits by so many wonderful comic actors. I have to slow down watching this, because I want it to last. I hope there's another season. I love Quibi!

Not a single redeeming quality in any of the 12 episodes. Weak acting, weak script and not a single laugh. Supercrap!!!!!
  • Theres a lot of negative reviews. 5 is too low of a rating I think it should be like a 6. I enjoyed the show, it reminds me of Saturday morning cartoons where it feels nice and bright. Picks up my mood. To me it's nice to watch one episode each day to make it last longer and to add a little bit of fun each day. I watched it in two days but I'm gonna watch it again. I think they did good. It felt a bit much at times and the ending was kinda oh ok it was him. Why are there so many murders in mapleworth's town, this question remains. I guess it can be just the way it is. I thought it was going to be a supernatural thing lol. Longer episodes might be nice. I dont know if 30 min would work but maybe 15 mins, I don't know.

Haven't been on IMDB for awhile, this show compelled me to. Watched 5 minutes of this drivel closed it out and immediately came here to warn others. Its trash folks. Cheesy everything, way overacted, and the characters are caricatures. Don't waste your time, you've bee warned.
  • So i read the the other reviews of this series and found that i disagree with most of the negative, Tw**ts , As this is just what i needed some light saucy fun ,,,, As far as uk "Comady" being better , we have so much sh**e stuff ourselves stop USA bashing why don't YA.
  • Let me be clear about this, I strongly recommend that instead of this, you just go watch any film or tv version of the amazing Miss Marple, including its great copycat/hommage/ripoff, 'Jessica Fletcher' in 'Murder She Wrote'. As parody, this one fails, unless you like youtube-quality fan fiction by your cringiest neighbour.
