India-headquartered global animation outfit Toonz Media Group is betting big on character-building entertainment, partnering with Blkbx Originals and Mvp Kids to develop a new 3D animated series and Roblox game based on the popular children’s brand.

The deal will see the production of 52 seven-minute episodes aimed at expanding the reach of Mvp Kids’ diverse cast of characters beyond their established book and curriculum empire.

For Toonz, which produces over 10,000 minutes of kids and family content annually, the move represents a strategic push into multi-platform storytelling. The studio, known for collaborations with heavy hitters like Marvel (“Wolverine and the X-Men”) and Universal (“Mostly Ghostly”), will leverage its animation chops to bring Mvp Kids’ message of individuality to the small screen.

On Wednesday, amid its NFL Christmas Gameday live event, the streamer shared a trailer for Happy Gilmore 2, its upcoming sequel to the 1996 Sandler sports comedy that helped shoot the comic actor into superstardom. The sequel will see Sandler, Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, Dennis Dugan, Allen Covert, and Ben Stiller reprise their roles from the original hit comedy.

Happy Gilmore 2, as Sandler revealed in 2022, follows his titular hockey reject turned golfer as he enters himself on a senior golf tour. Move over Community movie, there’s a new project generating ceaseless updates concerning every minute element of production: Happy Gilmore 2. We’ve heard a lot about the making of Adam Sandler’s highly anticipated sequel, from the nightmarish casting call, to the Travis Kelce cameo, to the fact that the 70-year-old alligator who played the gator that ate Chubbs’ hand is totally available to come back, presumably as a ghost.

But one piece of Happy Gilmore 2 news is, admittedly, pretty intriguing: Ben Stiller will be reprising the role of the abusive seniors’ home employee known simply as “Hal L.”

This news spread after photos of a mustachioed Stiller on the set of Happy Gilmore 2 were posted online.

Stiller was recently asked about the role during an interview with Collider, and the Zoolander star suggested that there might be more to his dirtbag character than meets the eye.

The former “SNL” cast member is the first to join the cast of “Dmv,” which was ordered to pilot by the network in August. The single-cam workplace comedy, which hails from CBS Studios, is written by Dana Klein, who executive produces alongside Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling, Robyn Meisinger.

The official logline for “Dmv” is as follows: Based on award winning author Katherine Heiny’s short story, a single camera workplace comedy set at the place everyone dreads going most: the Dmv. Our quirky and lovable characters are making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door. Good thing they have each other.

Meadows will play Gregg, a former high school English teacher, who likes to get through the driving tests, and the day, as quickly as possible, per the official character description.

Nearly six years after the release of his last comedy special, Adam Sandler is returning to Netflix with “Adam Sandler: Love You.” The comedy special directed by “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems” co-director Josh Safdie will premiere globally on the streamer Aug. 27.

The first trailer for the special shows Sandler in a surprisingly intimate theater rather than a large arena. After joking with the audience a bit, he gets down to the brass tacks of what everyone can expect.

“Anyway, I talk a lot and then I sing and then we do a bunch of s–t. All right, so here it goes,” Sandler says.

The ever-moving camera then cuts between Sandler onstage with mic in hand, closeups of him signing shirts and a car driving away as its being chased by a crowd of people. “We’ve lost control,” Sandler says as a dog appears from backstage and happily greets the audience.

Adam Sandler returns to the stage in “Love You,” a music and comedy special directed by Josh Safdie, debuting on Netflix on Aug. 27.

“Love You” marks the Sandman’s first stand-up comedy special since 2018’s “100% Fresh,” and it reunites him with Josh Safdie, who directed Sandler in “Uncut Gems” alongside his brother Benny. (This is Safdie’s comedy special directorial debut.)

Nearly one year after Ray Liotta’s unexpected death in the Dominican Republic, his cause of death has been released.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the 67-year-old actor died from heart and respiratory issues. Specific causes of death list pulmonary edema — fluid in the lungs, respiratory insufficiency and acute heart failure. The report also noted atherosclerosis, a buildup of fats, cholesterol and other substances in and on the artery walls, as an underlying issue.
