The story of 7 people on trial stemming from various charges surrounding the uprising at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.
In the movie Renie Davis keeps a notebook with all the names of US soldiers that died in Vietnam during the trial. In real life he wrote down the names of Vietnamese soldiers as well.
Who started the riots? Was it the protesters or was it the police?
John Mitchell: The police don't start riots.
Richard Schultz: They'll have witnesses who say they started this one.
John Mitchell: And you'll dismantle them, and you'll win, because, Mr. Schultz, that's what's expected of you.
At the start of the trial, Bobby Seale claims that the eight defendants are called the "Chicago Seven". In reality, they were originally called the "Chicago Eight". The defendants became known as the Chicago Seven after Seale was severed from the case.
