OWN has given a straight-to-series order to the drama series “Delilah,” which hails from “Greenleaf” creator Craig Wright, Variety has learned.
The series will star Maahra Hill as Delilah Connolly, a headstrong, highly principled lawyer living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Delilah’s doing her best to raise two kids alone and keep her ties to family, friends and faith strong, all the while ceaselessly seeking justice for those who need it most, in a time when the rich and powerful of Charlotte and beyond will do anything to stop her. Also joining the cast are Jill Marie Jones as Tamara Grayson, Delilah’s confidante and best friend; Susan Heyward, who portrays Demetria Barnes, Delilah’s newly hired, fearless, and ambitious associate; and Ozioma Akagha, who plays Delilah’s unfailingly sunny secretary, Harper Conant.

What?! We're breaking our no-tv rules to feature this trailer for a documentary series called The Beach, made by Australian filmmaker Warwick Thornton. Not only because it looks awesome, better than you can even imagine, but also because it's made by and about a very talented filmmaker (whose films you should be watching). After all of his success, Thornton has "reached a crossroad in his life and something has to change. He has chosen to try giving up life in the fast lane for a while, to go it alone, on an isolated beach in one of the most beautiful yet brutal environments in the world, to see if he can transform and heal his life." So he moves to a remote island, in Jilirr on the indigenous lands of the Dampier Peninsula, on the north-west coast of Western Australia. It's described as "observational and unobtrusive, yet visually stunning and cinematic.

What is it about the complete lack of faith in the government and the consistent empowerment of white supremacists that tickles so many so-called liberal filmmakers? Last year it was director Adam McKay’s “Vice,” and now it’s “Mister America,” director Eric Notarnicola’s uncomfortable mockumentary presumably meant to parody modern political decay.
But because it is filmed like a documentary, with an uncomfortably convincing central performance by actor and co-writer Tim Heidecker, it almost does seem like a completely unqualified Tim really is running for San Bernardino district attorney. In today’s political climate, where a man was elected president of the United States just weeks after being accused of sexual harassment, it wouldn’t be unbelievable to watch a similarly unfit white guy, who also narrowly escaped criminal prosecution, confidently run for major office.

WarnerMedia’s HBO Max has landed the exclusive streaming rights for the long-running Warner Bros. sitcom “The Big Bang Theory,” the company said on Tuesday. The modern-classic sitcom, which ended its 12-season run this spring, will also continue its syndication deal on sister cable network TBS through 2028.
“Big Bang” will be available on HBO Max for its spring 2020 launch. Financial details about the deal were not disclosed, but an individual with knowledge of the deal indicated that the streaming rights alone were worth more than the $500 million that Comcast paid to secure rights to “The Office” from Netflix.
“Few shows define a generation and capture mainstream zeitgeist like ‘The Big Bang Theory,'” said Bob Greenblatt, chairman, WarnerMedia entertainment and direct-to-consumer. “We’re thrilled that HBO Max will be the exclusive streaming home for this comedy juggernaut when we launch in the spring of 2020. Exclusive: Shining Vale, a half-hour horror-comedy from Divorce creator Sharon Horgan, Trial & Error co-creator Jeff Astrof and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, has landed at Starz with a pilot order.
The single-camera project, from Warner Bros. TV, where Astrof is under an overall deal, was originally set up at Showtime with a pilot production commitment. I hear the CBS-owned network greenlighted the script contingent on Catastrophe co-creator/co-lead Horgan starring. She was not available, and the project was put in turnaround with multiple outlets interested. I hear Starz COO Jeffrey Hirsch was instrumental in bringing the comedy to the premium network. Starz’s sibling Lionsgate TV will co-produce with Warner bros. TV.
This is the third pilot for Horgan and Clelia Mountford’s Merman this year, joining the animated Therapy Dog at Fox, starring Lisa Kudrow with Horgan among the voice cast, and Delilah at HBO Max, headlined by Jessica Rothe.
