Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.
M (Dame Judi Dench) mentions that she oversaw MI6's Hong Kong operations until 1997, even though Dench's first appearance as M was in GoldenEye (1995). The reason for this apparent contradiction, is that the James Bond franchise was reset, or rebooted, beginning with Casino Royale (2006), and Dench has actually portrayed two separate versions of the same character.
Ronson's down. He needs a medical evac.
M: Where is it? Is it there?
James Bond: Hard drives gone.
M: You sure?
James Bond: It's gone. Give me a minute.
M: They must have it! Get after them!
James Bond: I'm stabilizing Ronson.
M: We don't have the time!
James Bond: I have to stop the bleeding!
M: Leave him!
When M first meets Silva her necklace is off center, but in the following shots it's straight.
The opening credits feature Bond periodically shooting at targets, Shanghai dragons, Silva's skull logo, and the Skyfall mansion from which Bond's eyes stare out. At the end of the credits, the sky is seen falling upon the mansion.
For its UK network premiere on ITV, the scene where Bond removes a bullet from his chest is slightly cut due to being broadcast before the watershed at 9pm.
