The animated film is based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen of the same name.
Diploma of the First British International Film Festival in London (Festival of Festivals) in 1957.
On television, the animation was shown as part of the children's TV show "Good night, kids!"
In 1990, the film was partially remounted and included in another modular animation (minor scenes were cut, some of the ending was removed, the voices of all the characters were re-voiced).
In the mid-1990s, the animation was released in a VHS-collection of the Best Soviet cartoons from Studio PRO Video on videotapes. Recorded in Hi-Fi Stereo and in the PAL system.
