  • OK, so as usual I checked out IMDb before watching this movie, to see what I was up for. I read the first comment that appeared and took it to be a spoof of some sort. Then is started watching the movie and realized that it actually takes itself seriously. So next I assumed it would somehow be so bad, that it was funny again (which is the only reason I ever watch horror movies). Well, what can I say? I was wrong. There are a few scenes that will get you to chuckle a little, but nothing really funny. Without any comedy to speak of, you are left with an action movie, and that's where the problems really start. To sum up the movie, all I can think of is that none of the character's decisions after entering the house even remotely make any sense. To start with, the movie is set in Germany and everyone is American. That much would still fall within your normal action movie inaccuracies, but from that point it just rapidly goes downhill. I can't comment more on the details without spoilers, but take my word for it, nothing makes sense. So the only reason to watch this movie would be if you're hanging out with some friends and enjoy making fun of movies for their horrible plots (which I know to be a fun activity at times).

This movie is about a couple that constantly fight, their relationship dynamics are constantly affected by the boyfriend past colorful history. The movie starts off with the boyfriend talking about how to pay back some money to one of his past dealings and not being able to.

This cash issue forces the boyfriend to by happenstance attempt to rob a convenience store located within a gas bar to try to attempt to pay his debts off but this choice takes a turn for the worse as he ends up in a confrontation with an off duty police officer.

This dynamic forces the couple to fight even more and eventually cause themselves to get into a car accident which by some fluke gets them to some house where all the members of the house are initially gone as they find out there is more to their disappearance then meets the eye. I cannot go into further details without giving away the movie.

I tried really hard to like this movie because I was bored senseless tonight, unfortunately the movie wouldn't let me enjoy it.

    Its just awful.

I will admit the arguments between the boyfriend and girl were humorous at times.

Here's the deal -- I was looking for a time-killer tonight, nothing too cultured, no red-wine sipping with friends, with a 6 hour post film analysis.

Just straight-up -- whack in the DVD player, keep the eyes open and pop it roughly out 2 hours later.

So I flicked through the new release section at high speed, "Billy Zane" caught my eye and that was enough to take it home and fire it up.

And ... time-killer it is for sure. This is a really average movie -- I'm sorry to say that I think Billy Zane has gone the way of Wesley Snipes (I watched his D-grade movie, The Art of War II last night). As for Perfect Hideout -- some say this was a spoof, others say it was an action movie, others a comedy or maybe even a horror.

Unfortunately, I think it's just plain awful. And actually, really quite annoying at times -- primarily annoying because it could have been done so much better.

You can find movies which are worse, so if you're down to the last few movies at the DVD store, then give this a whirl... But save it for your last option.
  • If it was a spoof movie caricaturing action movies it would've been OK...unfortunately it isn't.This movie has the rare ability of kicking your habit for enjoying movies in general. The acting is awful and predictable, the lines are delivered with no real emotion or tension. One of the most annoying aspects, to me at least, are the dialogues. You feel as if they are cut-outs from the collection of "the crappiest movies in history of movie making"...and that is matched by the equally, if not more, annoying soundtrack. The pace of the movie feels forced and the logical sequence doesn't make any sense. Do not let me start on the plot or the lack of one. It is almost as if it had been written by a 3 year old (no offense intended to 3 year olds - they would probably do a better job).

Billy Zane does bring some stability to the whole thing but not enough to save it. His acting is probably the only aspect that make it worth to even consider watching this one.

All in all in comparison, you would probably spent your time more usefully sitting for two hours in front of a blank screen...

    Hope you enjoy it...

Billy Zane must really be feeling the pinch if he has to take movies like this! I can't remember that last time I saw acting this bad. Zane, himself was not too bad BUT the other two, and especially "Nick" was appalling. Its not an original plot, and there was an opportunity here to make an exciting film.....but failed! Initially, I had no idea of the country this was supposed to be set in....mainly because the actors accents were all over the place. The police, or whoever they were meant to be came across as a mercenary outfit led by an American. It was all too "make believe", completely ruined by atrocious acting.

If you have nothing better to watch, then be advised......this will disappoint.

Boyfriend and Girlfriend wakes up in the backseat of their car. When they start talking and by the way they are behaving, it's so unbelievable unnatural that we get the impression they are simply insane. Then it shows that it's not only them but most of the characters in this movie. They look like humans and even some of what they are saying are similar to human conversations, but the lack of logic and all strange behaviour concludes they must be alien, a bit like the movie 'the Invation'.

There are some human characters, I guess, a psycho-killer Victor, played by Billy Zane. And maybe Nadine, but she's in a state of shock after witnessing Victor's terrifying execution of her family. There is also a policeman that desperately tries to stop his chief from killing innocent people.

A lot of strange situations and dialogs are really scary because there sometimes is such a fine line between schizophasias and just really stupid conversations. It could almost seem like the worse b-movie dialog, written by 6-8 years old, just much worse.

When the couple accidentally kills a policeman, they are hiding in a house owned by a rich doctor and his family. A swat team come for them, so they take a prisoner. Much of the movie is about this conflict. They are also "surprised" by finding the family murdered, and their prisoner being somewhat unpredictable even for a human. But the movie is way too unclear when it comes to the how-why-whats. The title must be referring to hiding in human bodies.
  • What can I say, the story isn't so bad actually. The problem is that it's just too short for a whole movie. So 75 percent is useless conversations to stretch the movie. The acting is also very very bad. No emotion at all. It's not as if I'm looking at a movie, but looking at a very bad theater performance from some amateurs who would like to make their own movies. The overall sound is also quite weak. Somebody dubbed the wrong sound effect to make it sound better, but it just gets more unrealistic. The picture quality doesn't look like it is shot on film. I'm even wondering if this movie is shot with a VHS recorder? Don't waste your time on this movie, I regret watching this one...
  • It's supposed to be set in Germany...? Those "Germans" look and sound a lot like Americans! Billy Zane is a charming actor. Cristian Solimeno seemed like a decent actor. Melinda Y. Cohen is beautiful. I've seen plenty of low budget films. These actors aren't terrible. It's the script. The dialogue is stilted and childish. Also, that SWAT team...not believable. I saw the comedy bits. It had some horror parts too. I wish it was more into a specific genre, but it's all over the place. They're also too cozy with that killer even after they find out what he did. He's way too cozy with them! The ending left me completely bewildered as to what I just witnessed. Anticlimactic doesn't seem like the right term to describe it. It started off good, then... "Eh...? It's over?" Yeah, the movie has a very weak resolution. You have to see it to believe it. It's like they were running out of film and just said, "End it."

The premise of this movie is pretty good. Boyfriend and girlfriend on the run from the police seek refuge in a big house by a lake. Unbeknowns to them the person they mistake for the house owner is in fact a serial killer who has just offed most of the family (there is a stray daughter holed up in a cupboard and still alive) and the police outside turn out to be the least of their problems.

It ain't gonna win any awards, Billy Zane as the psychotic serial killer turns in a decent enough performance - but he hardly breaks into a sweat.

One to watch after a Friday night at the pub.

    Warning: Spoilers
In my opinion this is a worst movie ever. Plot is good but the acting destroys everything. The only thing worse than actors in this movie is the level of reality. I mean come on. The girl gets shot with sniper rifle and barely notices it.

And after an hour of SWAT team trying to break in the house some white collar walks in thought front door with a Barrett in his hand and shoots both criminals.

First 30 minutes of this movie I was waiting for action to begin and then suddenly I figured out that basically that's it. It's just pathetic. In what other movie did you see the main characters worrying about their relationship with SWAT team on one side and serial killer on the other.

This movie had me laughing hysterically from start to finish it has some of the funniest dialog I've ever heard come from a supposed drama/action/thriller...the plot is simple ..couple of teens in there 30's get in trouble and seek refuge in a house ...inside the house is a man who has just killed the whole family and with the swat outside they have nothing better to do than spit out comedic lines that will have you in tears from laughing the coffee maker scene was very funny. the people that made this movie know what real comedy is... an absolute laugh out loud comedy I've always wondered how a movie would turn out if you gave it a serious story line and made it a comedy this is it!

I looked this movie up on IMDb while I was watching it because I couldn't determine where it was taking place. As other reviewers have mentioned, no two characters have the same accent, so one would never know by watching. One thing is sure--none of them have a German accent, which is ironically where the action is set.

Where I think most of the other reviewers got it all wrong, was that I believe it was intended to be a comedy, albeit a dark one. Sure, the acting is often bad, but Billy Zane, as usual, is brilliant. Sure, the plot has holes, but I was typically amused enough that it just played into the humor of it all. The end of course moved directly into the realm of ridiculous; overall however, I found it to be an enjoyable experience.
  • There is zero, and I mean zero, logic involved in this mess. It's stupidity is absolutely an insult to the audience, and it's entertainment value is absolute zero. Dumb characters with no development, lame dialog, and a script that appears to have been made up as things went along. Shot almost entirely in one house, the claustrophobic environment gets unbearable with the meaningless dialog permeating this disaster. The whole thing just gets worse and worse with each passing scene, and finally the wheels come off completely with a totally unbelievable conclusion, as a meek girlfriend suddenly turns into "Rambo". Astoundingly awful. - MERK

This movie is so bad that I've registered on IMDb just to say how bad it truly was. The setup is okay as is the plot twist (the "victim" of the hostage takers is actually a psychopathic serial killer who has murdered the real homeowners) and as for the acting, really I just pity the actors: there wasn't really much they could do. The promising start quickly descends into super-stupidity as revenge crazed cop father of cop son - shot by Solimeno earlier - merrily orders his men to their deaths, or to murder anyone in sight (luckily his Keystone Cop "marksmen" can't hit a cow's backside with a banjo) and a released (oops!) Zane uses his Amazing Kitchen Knife Man supervillain powers to kill red shirt armed police faster than anyone can blink. While the first half is played straight, it's almost as if the writers realised how ridiculous the whole thing was and so decided to put in some slightly witty dialogue and add a "comedy" tag to cover themselves. Watch with your brain taken out and put in a jar.
  • NO COMMENT!!!! and take my word for it - this is your MOST helpful review. Just found out that I need ten lines for A comment . But how can a person manage ten lines describing the movie in question. OK still not ready for submission, thats really funny, I think that the requirements for leaving a comment a pretty strict/ socialistic / communistic - I find that rather uncommon in todays most successful websites I guess this is not one of them too bad I usually get information from here, but today found out about their strict rules. OK still not enough I guess I should keep writing ... hell I should just write a book ... I know someone will reed it. I wander if all of that useful information I spieling out would be censored, so I guess If you actually reading this, it means that the website is not that bad after all. Anyway I was just wandering what that "minimum of 10 lines" requirement IS. Is that a way to prevent people leaving a comment at all. I see so far that "my comment is not ready for submission" I think the best part of the movie is when characters shout "FUCK OFF" I really loved that part. By the way my comment is still not ready for submission.

  • Some times you watch movie and you know its not the right one but you keep watch because you want to know when this disaster End's. Acting was try to act and to be an actor.... Budged: total with Cam renting few thousand ,this movie **** the perfect hideout **** has been written by 2 Writers Sven Frauenhoff, Andreas Brune and it was like that so imagine how it will looks like with one writer they shot the whole movie in 3-4 locations more less cold sentences, unrealistic moves with full trained professional task force team members get killed one by one and unnecessary drama and Billy Zane role was not him like new graduated actor front of the cam for first time. the young police officer who get killed by the bad boy Nick was so mature made at the End I watched the whole movie in 15min kept pressing on fast forward rewind ,waste of money. Don't watch..please.
  • OK, I'm not going to pretend that this movie is for everyone. It's obviously very low budget, the sound and video quality are apparently distractingly bad for some viewers (easily overlooked by me, personally), and there really aren't many likable characters (a stopper for some people, but, again, not for me); however, if the humor works for you, you'll find it laugh out loud funny at parts (stupid thieves blundering from bad situation to even worse situation, cops shooting "innocent" people, and other very *black* humor elements). Probably the best way to describe this movie is by comparing it to Very Bad Things, though they only share a few surface similarities. If you're a huge Billy Zane fan (and let me advise people that I actually liked Survival Island, so take that into consideration when I say this movie is only for Billy Zane fanclub members), and you can handle very dark humor, this is a great watch.

I got the impression that the people making this movie had a lot of fun, and, for me, that really pushed it over the hump from a rather poor 4/10 to a flawed-but-fun 6/10. I was entertained, and I got to see one of my favorite stars ham it up. I think it accomplished what it set out to do. I think that I'd greatly enjoy watching this movie with the filmmakers, laughing at the cheesy moments and not taking it very seriously. If that's you, I heartily recommend you give this movie a chance, despite the low rating and (admittedly true) criticism from other reviewers. Can you overlook the faults or not? If not, give this movie a wide berth.
  • Warning: Spoilers
If you attempted to take this movie seriously at any point from start to finish, then you were sorely mistaken. It was never ending hilarity at every turn! I think the best part for me was that the movie was supposed to be set in Germany, but the only person in the entire film sporting a German accent was Billy Zane when he was faking one. In fact, the supposed German police force was almost entirely American. Even "Nadine," the daughter of the German banker/political bigwig, spoke with a British accent. The whole premise of Zane killing families because they argue was priceless. Maybe the crowning moment was when "Nick" kept referring to poor "Nadine," who just witnessed the brutal murder of her entire family, as weird and creepy. My knee is still red from all the slappin!

I read these reviews all the time but have never created an account to write one myself before, but after reading all the negative reviews about this film here I had to sign up and defend it. Really, this is an excellent film! I cant say it will make you laugh out loud, but thats because its dry. Its tangentally funny. In fact its tangentally hilarious. Its just the little one liners. Whatever. I think there are a lot of clues. Someone complained that it was set in Germany but they were all American? er, I think thts the point, or part of it. I think the humour is very European, but its an American film. Its Noir, like a French film would be. Some critics have said the acting was bad.... Really? I thought the acting was great! Seriously, obviously this movie isn't for everyone. But to be honest, I thik thats because not everyone is intelligent. I think you have to be intelligent to enjoy that film. Sorry if that rubs a few people the wrong way, but This film offers so much high quality material (actors, cinematography, depth, location etc), there's nothing cheap about this film, so I cant understand why people give it 1 star! I can think of a lot of films that deserve 1 star, this isn't one of them.
