The story of Eddie Edwards, the notoriously tenacious British underdog ski jumper who charmed the world at the 1988 Winter Olympics.
The film features two actors who have won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Academy Award. Jim Broadbent won his for Iris (2001) while Christopher Walken won his for The Deer Hunter (1978). Co-star Hugh Jackman hosted the Academy Awards ceremony in 2009.
To say that his style is unorthodox would be something of an understatement, but it obviously works for him.
When Eddie's mum and dad are watching him on TV at Calgary 88, Eddie's dad want's to watch It's a Knockout on the other side. "It's a Knockout" was no longer on TV in the UK in 1988, the series finished in 1982, there had been a couple of episodes of _"Christmas Knockout" shown in 1983 and 1984 and _"Grand Knockout Tournament" ()_ which aired in 1987.
