Did not expect this to be a musical, however I was pleasantly surprised with the music. The story itself is also very good and offers some thoughtful themes and ideas. It is quite similar to the likes of Adventure Time in a good way. The odd blend of humor and serious atmosphere might not be for everybody, but I massively enjoyed it.
I will admit, the centaur characters were at times a bit ~much~ but Horse is an interesting protagonist and I really liked the greater mystery/theming behind the show.
The animation is very fun and mobile and I like the heavy contrast between the more silly aspects and the serious gritty stuff not only in tone but also music and visuals.

This show is very 2012 cartoon network. It pushes the boundaries of goofy/weird but still has incredible heart at the core of the plot. Not everyone's going to enjoy it or "get it", heck I went in expecting the worst from the trailer, but it ABSOLUTELY succeeds what it set out to and those who enjoy this genre will love it.

Im really glad western animation is growing up, the animation in this is beautiful, the songs while not the best certainly being a beautiful atmosphere and k love the weirdness.
This show is a ride. It suddenly goes from the themes of war to your ordinary rainbow coloured cast of characters just singing, dancing with some magic spells here and there. But somehow it just all ties together so well! It's an absolute delight and I hope that Season 2 is even better.

It's absurd and silly for much of the show while simultaneously delivering consistent and recurring moments of beautiful raw emotional intensity...from a horse and a llama... This ungulate driven show has absolutely no business possessing the degree of song and vocal quality it has, but it does so unabashedly and to great effect. We never know what to expect, but it's certainly never boring in its zany, charming, and albeit sometimes inappropriate, humor and dialogue. Fun, wacky, emotional and brilliantly musical; I loved everything it (almost literally) threw at me and will eagerly await season 2.

This is the most bizarre thing that I have come across in a long time!!! It is technicolour, mind bending burst into song (A LOT) ridiculousness. My 6 year old loves it. It does actually have the fundamental moral 'lessons' woven into it. It won't be everyone's cup of tea but then nothing is. I enjoy the songs, they're very showbiz.

Horse (the aptly named horse) should be named Odysseus due to the fact that this fun and wacky new show is all about her journey to get home to her beloved rider. The characters are often zany, but the themes (inclusion, family, discovery) are weighty and real. It's a bit like Animaniacs (the old version, not the reboot) meets Adventure Time meets Over the Garden Wall meets Stephen Universe. Most members of the cast are Broadway veterans, so when they do sing, it's worth listening to, and I often times find myself wishing the songs were longer. Special shout out to the storyboarding by Sarah Soh!

This show has a lot of energy which can be quite annyoing sometimes but it has a lot of charm and fun. I would like the more seriuse tone from the start would last a bit more but most of the charakters are a lot of fun. Some could have been cut out but overall this is a good show.

Everything about this show is very very good.
The animation is fantastic. The voices are great. The singing ranges from good to amazing.
What brings it down slightly is the story being a bit predictable and the over the top zaniness making it sometimes more "WTF?" than lol.
Be warned though. If you don't like cartoons with occasional songs, like MLP etc, this cartoon has tons of songs. Some lyrics are great and it works well, other lyrics are... Well.. serviceable..

CENTAURWORLD (2017) was a fun and goofy animated series. Spontaneous, random and all around far out, this series was enjoyable. This series was pretty entertaining, overall. It was an interesting watch, especially in between other shows, as a way to pass time or to watch after watching more disturbing/upsetting things.
"A hardened war horse transported away from battle finds herself in a land that's inhabited by silly, singing centaurs of all shapes and sizes."
While, at times, this show can feel a little bit over-the-top, maybe even borderline annoying, it definitely grows on you, and it's definitely meant to be that way-silly and random, as well as unexpected. A light hearted watch.

I was very skeptical of this show because of how over the top and unfocused the humor seemed from the trailer and honestly throughout the series in the general. BUT it was seriously worth the patience to get to the end because it's so clear that this show has a lot more to offer than it lead us to believe and it's made me very excited for a second season. You get glimpses of something dark going on in the background of the show from the beginning, and the payoff is worth it once you reach the end of the season and everything starts to come together. If you like adventure time, Steven universe, legend of Korra, the owl house, midnight gospel and other similar shows, seriously give this a shot, get to the end and see how you feel because it exceeded my expectations.
Centaurworld takes a few episodes to get into but once you do it's one of the most thoroughly entertaining and joyous pieces of media of the decade.

It's got a little bit of everything. It's got humor for adults and kids (especially us adults who like really low brow humor), lots of beautiful songs, goofy nonsense, dark under bellies, scary relatable themes, and lots of heart. It's major Steven Universe + Adventure Time vibes but is also its own thing. Can't wait for season 2!

Feels wild and in its element. And its clear that the makers know a lot of animation culture with all the references and sutble hints. But the story felt a bit stale, with only small hint towards the overall history of worldbuilding. Most of the time the episode just focuses on anecdotal world problems, and it loses that feel of an overarching story. But all in all pretty well made show with a great style, but maybe a little lacking in intrique.
6/10: yes ok but.

My girlfriend and I have always been a fan of watching children's TV shows since our teenage years because we loved to view the plots as adults. We enjoy catching the hidden (most times rather blatant) adult content that would be overlooked by adolescents and young kids. We were NOT at all disappointed by this show!
It has an Adventure Time feeling to it - random events with zany animation, ridiculous dialogue, yet a serious undertone that looms in the distance. I also compare a bit of it to Steven Universe in that there are lessons throughout the show that teach on things like compassion, forgiveness, and empathy (mostly sung through song).
THE PLOT: Is about a war horse, who amidst a massive war, was magically transported to another universe where there lives creatures that are half centaur half animal. She stumbles upon a colorful group of centaurs all with different personalities that love to sing, dance, and other whacky things. Once she discovers she can speak her journey to find her way home begins. However, despite how colorful and happy the world seems there are underlying problems that slowly beging to surface.
The two of us went into this show open-minded as we do with everything we watch. I fell in-love with it on the 2nd episode but it took my girlfriend until around the 6th episode when the storyline really began to delve deeper.
My only reason for the 9 stars is that with all shows whose demographic is children there comes a lot of very childish humor.

The characters didn't seem to act intelligently or realistically in the first episode. For example, the protagonist kept trying to escape a magic barrier, but all the attempts were focused on one place in the barrier. Why would she not try to break the barrier in other spots? I don't think focusing exclusively on one area was part of a joke.
The first episode had a lot of wasting time. It was obvious many times that a joke was being made. But I found none of the jokes funny, and usually they didn't contribute to the story. Some songs also didn't seem to give (much) new information, and I didn't enjoy the singing enough to want songs for the sake of having songs.
I've read through most of the other reviews, and no one has convinced me that this series gets better after episode 1, nor have I read a good explanation why this series is good in general (apart from praising the songs).
To give you an impression of my taste, these are some series I have rated highly in the past: 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners', 'The Sandman', 'Violet Evergarden', 'Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song ', 'Great Pretender', 'Messiah', 'The OA', 'Sense8', 'Beastars', 'Dark', and the movies 'Interstellar' and 'Arrival'.

While this series may seem like a directionless pastel feverdream in its earlier episodes, it certainly picks up pace later on, exploring some dark themes and tropes that I seriously didn't expect a show with its marketing to touch on. That isn't to say that a majority of the show's humor isn't immature and offbeat though, and there's a lot of children's content to slog through if you're only watching for the overarching narrative. In the same manner as Adventure Time, Centaurworld locks its more serious moments behind some truly bizarre humor and worldbuilding, and though this was a major plus for me, I can easily see it annoying older viewers.
That being said though, this show has an incredible amount of heart and talent put into it, a fact which is glaringly evident in its soundtrack and animation. The voice acting here is seriously top notch, especially the vocals, which is a lot coming from someone who usually hates when a show or movie turns musical. While some characters (cough, the centaurs, cough) were a little underdeveloped, our two leads, Horse and Wammawink, were very fun and intriguing, especially when their pasts were explored. Even though the supporting cast can be incredibly grating at times, even they have their moments, and I can see them benefiting a lot from some backstory, granted this show gets the second season I believe it deserves. The plot this season is pretty linear for the most part, but future installments promise to shake up the formula.
Please give this a try if you enjoy semi-goofy cartoons with underlying plot, especially more offbeat ones like Chowder, Adventure Time, Over The Garden Wall, and Gravity Falls. Despite its flaws, this was a really fun watch, and I'd love to see it get the support it deserves. It's a really, really weird show, and I mean that in the best way possible.

The creators tried too hard. Too hard to be quirky, too hard to be intense, too hard to be a musical, too hard to have a weird but cute animation style, too hard to have a fantasy adventure storyline.
If they had scaled back most or all of the elements of this show, it would have been bearable, but it takes itself too seriously and is just bad.
It could have been great, but it's just ok. It's barely on the line of a children's show. They're just confused and weirded out by what's going on. It's like the creators wanted to make another rick and morty but didn't know how to make it adult or funny enough to get on adult swim.

This is one of those shows that definitely fits in the category of blowing your expectations out of the water. It's really hard to get into just exactly why I love this show without spoiling it, but I'll do my best to tell you instead who its best for.
If you love musicals, you'll love it. The songs are great, I actually find a lot of them to be true bangers and I listen to them regularly. The acting is supreme, and their singing is just as amazing.
If you enjoy a blend of wacky, unpredictable humor mixed with dark tones and serious themes, you'll enjoy this too! It takes time to guide the viewer between moments of endearing hilarity and more serious tones that really delve deeper into how certain characters work, or even better, how the worlds they live in tie together.
And most importantly, if you love cartoons, you'll love Centaurworld. The animation is flawlessly amazing, its bouncy and creative and never gets old. The expressions are hilariously fluid, nothing feels over-done or unnecessarily recycled, its all very fresh and beautiful.
This show is a sort of weird mix of My Little Pony, Adventure Time, Over the Garden Wall, and I've even heard some people compare some of its underlying darker themes to shows like Bojack Horseman. In general, it has a lot to offer, and very rarely feels like its wasting your time, even if not all of the jokes land. My only criticism is that I wish it had more gradual build-up and development of the characters as they lead towards the ending episodes, but we can only hope the magic and mystery continues in a second season!
