Two English comic book geeks traveling across the U.S. encounter an alien outside Area 51.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost made the film to demonstrate their love for Steven Spielberg's science fiction classics, Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982). When Spielberg got wind of the project, he happily suggested that he make a cameo appearance of some sort, in this case a voice on a speakerphone.
Go on, then, Paul. Don't be long.
When Paul and Ruth are arguing about religion after she comes to, there is a fly swatter and a green floral kitchen pocket hanging on the hooks on the wall behind Ruth. In the next shot, she grabs the fly swatter and the green floral pocket gets knocked down, but later in the same scene when we see Clive driving and he says "Oh yeah" it can be seen hanging there again.
There's a scene during the end credits.
