Not sure why there is so much hate going on in the reviews for this show. It isn't exactly going to tax your old grey cells, or cause you to pull a muscle from laughing, but its not terrible. It is a standard, mass-produced US sitcom. Not clever, not laugh out loud funny but a perfectly good 30 min (ish) distraction from the unbelievable horrors of the real world in 2020.

Its mildly witty, good family fun in a similar vein to Home Improvement or Roseanne.

Don't expect to much, and if you find yourself with a gap in your evening viewing schedule give it a go.
  • The first ep is a drag and I was really upset to see Kevin in that boring set. However it really starts to lift in further episodes.

It actually gets very enjoyable and starts to feel like a KJ sitcom once again. I enjoyed it and look forward to more.

Just get past the first episode and parts of the 2nd and you like me hopefully will really enjoy the remainders

Pretty solid, by-the-numbers comedy. Much better than Kevin James' last effort. Season 1 ends with unfortunate predictability - give it all time to develop, man. Net...not a waste of time and a show I'll tune into when S2 runs.
  • Interesting premise and kevin james is very funny but the laugh track is an anachronism that completely ruins the viewers' ability to enjoy the show on their own terms. The writing and acting is good enough to not need a laugh track. Please get rid of it for season 2. Laugh tracks take away an actor's power. I hope Kevin James can convince the producers to get rid of the laugh track.
  • I like the show being about NASCAR. The cameos from real drivers are so great. A funny show. I love Kevin James, some of the material is a little familiar, but it's a good familiar.

    7/10
    Good
Nothing wrong with this. It's a typical sitcom but it's set in a cool environment. It's funny and you won't need to follow every second to keep up. People just whine for the sake of it about any new show.

Nothing new here. It's a very stereotypical sitcom. Some of the jokes made me chuckle but the canned laughter could be pretty distracting. It's definitely dumb but I found it entertaining at times.

I laughed out loud at least 60% of the full season. I do not like that the large dose of feminism (with the new driver and new boss), but otherwise, it's a decent watch, even if background only.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Kevin James is the definition of "marmite" if you don't like him then don't watch his shows just to spew a negative review, this show has a very awkward 1st episode, not good if it's a week on week show but it's from Netflix so they release the entire season in one go, watch past the 1st episode because it does get better, much much better, it has some good characters with good banter & interactions & there is a story/plot with several sub plots, no it's not Shakespeare it's just good fun TV, well worth watching just for Freddie Stroma & his character "Jake" very funny.

Most of the negative reviews on here are based on the 1st episode, some don't seem to have even watched past the 1st 10 minutes, that's not a review, it's moronic & it's totally stupid to base a review on watching much past the opening sequence.

After episode four it will be more fun. The first 4 episodes are a little meh but it will get more fun and I hope there will be a season 2
  • If you miss King of Queens and every sitcom from 20+ years ago with canned laughter then this show is for you. Not MUST SEE TV but passes the time fine
  • I wasn't sure what to think about this particular show when I saw that it was premiering on Netflix but being that it stars Kevin James I'd give it a shot. It does not disappoint. For anyone really missing the former "King of Queens" star and wishing as much as I did that he would make a return back to primetime television.. this is the next best thing.

The humor is spot on. The supporting cast and crew very talented. The spin on the whole idea of a Nascar crew workplace comedy is definitely unique and I can't recall it ever being done on TV before.. but it is slightly reminiscent of the movie.. The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

All in all this is definitely worth the watch. The half hour long episodes are easy to watch and it's easy to burn through Season 1 quickly. I quite enjoy it and I'm glad Kevin James is here. It's definitely entertaining to the core. If I could change any one thing.. perhaps I would bring Leah Remini in as a reoccurring character as a Nascar Rival team owner or something along those lines just as an added treat to the inner-King of Queens fan that exists in most of us.
  • This is an interesting take on NASCAR. I am not sure the other reviewers actually watched the show. Solid show if you stay with it. Face paced humor- classic Kevin James. First sitcom of its type- Solid B. The audience that is intended for will watch and it will go at least 3 seasons. Binge worthy.

The laugh track is bad had to turn it off in the first few minutes.
  • Its like the creators of ICarly tried to tap into the yokel market. This show is a comedic black hole

This show is pretty funny. I've watched 4 episodes in a row and really enjoy it. Plus, it's Kevin James. What's wrong with laugh tracks? They're in classic comedies and no one complains about those.
  • Since the beginning, it is clear that this is a very weird show. Jokes are bad, situations are ridiculous, and it seems no one is really trying too hard. But if you stick a while to it, it is a nice background show to watch when you need a couple of cheap laughs.
  • If you are looking for sophisticated, political or some kind of deep comedy drama this show is NOT for you. BUT If you do enjoy laughing at simple jokes and pure entertainment to get your mind off a bad day this show is for you. Just a bit of advice: give it time. First episodes were not so funny but it gets better after 3 episodes and so funny. It does not give advice or life lesson. In covid time its a great escape to just chill. Hope they dont cancel it.
  • Not the best thing on Netflix and certainly not the worst. I'm an avid nascar fan so to see a sitcom set in the world of racing is great. The driver cameos are fantastic and I really think Ryan blaney could have a career on screen when he's done behind the wheel. Some things avid race fans will catch when the world of nascar is bent to serve the script. The clash of old vs. new in the world of nascar is true but is probably not nearly as severe as the show makes it out to be. That could cause issues both for the sport and the show. However I do look forward to season 2 and wished there were more episodes. Cmon Netflix when are we gonna stop doing these 10 at a time for all of your original series? So annoying.
  • I watched this just because it was on Top 10 list on Netflix. Even not being a NASCAR follower, it ended up being so much funnier than I expected. Loved the jokes, and the character interaction and development. I actually wanted more than ten episodes. Agree it was funny enough on its own to do without a laugh track, but hope it's renewed.
  • It seems that many of the Reviewer are University training Entertainment Critics. This show wasn't created to win the Emmy for Best New Drama.

Yes there is a "laugh" track, and yes it is constantly going off. There were a couple of "typical" Kevin James jokes but to us, it was exactly what I was hoping for.

This IS a classic 30min comedy with typical Cast makeup, common jokes, puns and awkward moments to generate "laughs". Worth a watch, and hopefully we will see multiple seasons from "The Crew".

You can spot the awful jokes coming from miles away and to make it "funny" they've dusted off the old 1970's laughtrack.
  • This Show is really underrated first 2 episodes are not that great but it puck up and turns out pretty great .... hope to see more
  • Good show. Funny and easy to laugh at. Catherine is everything that is wrong with faux female hero bosses. She sucks. End of story. I now hate that actress cause I hate her characters so much
  • I resisted exactly 1:08 minutes... I can't imagine why are the producers insisting to use canned laughter, when everybody complains every time. It's so annoying, it deletes any trace of humor from the forced jokes.
