  • Reviewers here seem to be potraying Mocvara as low fi True Detective, seems unfair. Obviously a show as successful as TD will influence subsequent works but this one can stand on its own two feet with a decent plot. Sure, the sound production is terrible but in the age of radical political correctness it's just refreshing to see a show where everyone smokes, where men are men and women are women and where cops still beat bad guys up to exact justice.

Authentic and thrilling, first episode leaves you wanting to watch more episodes. Acting is great, good job for the casting crew.

Out of all the domestic TV series from last year, the one that left the biggest impression on me was Mocvara. It's not a series that deserves a 10 or a 9 raiting, like most of the domestic series. Each one has its flaws. But the spirit of Milena Markovic is felt throughout the entire season. That's why I give it an 8, and because of a few exceptional actors, including Goran Bogdan who needs to work on his language skills. But it's well-directed and well-conceived. I don't mind that it resembles numerous crime series. It has some authenticity and it held my attention, even in the weaker episodes.

Goran Bogdan is an amazing actor. It takes only one episode to realize that he is a real jew. I liked the first two episodes and can't wait to see the whole show.

I am very impressed with this series. I didn't catch up with the first season, but the second season...wow. Man, what a great mystery. Everything was top notch for Serbian cinematography. Acting was fantastic. I would especially like to give a shout-out to Sanja Kolacaric who knocked it out of the park. Well done, what a wonderful performance! Also, addition in form of Milos Timotijevic and Marko Janketic was awesome. Milos Timotijevic is truly one of the best Serbian actors. That terror in his voice, man! Mystery was developed very well. Pacing could have been better but still they made me care for all of the characters so I didn't mind it.

Senta storyline was, for me, one of the best stuff I have seen from Serbian film. Belgrade storyline however, was kind of a mess, but I won't judge it because, like I said, I haven't paid attention to the first season very much. One thing that I have to add as a con is too much nude and explicit scenes. Like, TOO MUCH! They need to cut some of that for the next season, if there will be one.

    All in all, well done.

I am very disappointed with this series. The action is inconsistent, the police investigation is secondary and completely unrelated. New data and characters appear over and over again, without excessive meaning. Actors wander around the frame, with no particularly pronounced acting skills. The greatest attention is paid to frequent and at the same time unnecessary sexual scenes. Swearing is common. I don't see what I would single out as positive. The check-out music song has some appeal, even though its rhythm is deja-vu. However, the lyrics are bizarre.
  • Very strong first episode. It has an unusual atmosphere and fantastic actors. I'll watch it for sure.

Very good music, especially the song "Dole u mraku". Poor sound recording, at some points I didn't understand dialogues.

Very interesting first episode. Dark, detective story. It's kinda True detective goes Belgrade style. As for me, it bought me for sure.
  • Here is a short list of pros and cons, based on the first two episodes:

Pros: 1) The show has good, dark atmosphere which manages to save even the biggest fillers (especially in the second episode). 2) Mikac's crocodile jacket.

Cons: 1) 2D cliche characters that speak and act alike; and the unbelievable attempts of characterizations like when the protagonist is talking (with extremely bad Serbian accent) that he was born and raised in the projects (Belgrade) and was fighting the '90s wars. 2) The ever-lasting Achilles' heel of Serbian cinema - sound: which is particularly bad when the main character is mumbling his lines. 3) The music is so inadequate throughout the episodes, it seems that the soundtrack is from another show. I am sure that the ending song will be the ringtone of many mobile phones, but it just sounds cheap and "ad hoc". 4) The whole show is trying so bad to look like "True Detective" but with so little money and skill that the viewer is constantly reminded that he didn't get the real Barbie doll for Christmas, but an ugly Chinese copy instead.
  • The first episode transfers really good atmosphere of New Belgrade. Lots of concrete and grey shades, but so colorful with people. The show seems different from everything I saw in domestic production. Looking forward to the next episodes.

I'm a great fan of detective TV shows, and I'm glad that Mocvara is folowing world trend in genre. Very satisfying first two episodes, can't wait to see more.
  • After first episode,i was excited to continue but my expectation did not match sequel to the series
  • Goran Bogdan is the beast in this series, awesome acting. And the rest of cast is nice too. Interesting and catchy story..My recommendations..

I should have stopped watching after the first episode. This is undoubtedly the most grotesque piece of garbage I've ever seen. There isn't a single positive or even slightly positive role. Adultery is the norm, constant smoking, drinking and swearing. There isn't a single conversation without some vulgarity. The storyline is ridiculously amateur and totally predictable.
  • Speaking of sound: It is very hard to make films, especially series in Serbia. A low budget automatically limits the time. I was on few film sets, it's amazing how people cope with shortened resources. However, this is only the beginning of the series culture here. With all this said, it's very good. I am impressed with some of the artistic moments and the 'happy/sad' contrast between music and the story.

Not a good show. Lighting may be is solid, photography also, sound editing is decent but there is so much of awful swearing, such bad language and unnecessary nudity.

Nikola's character should be of a tough, hardened person with "a history" - we see none of it, we feel none of it, the intimidation, maybe even threatening character he should have been. Bogdan shines here and there, and we know he is capable, but that is rare because he seems restrained, all of the actors do. Sargin is not acting bad, Ceca also. But there are so many parts where there is just silence and pointless staring yet the characters are so under-developed, with no depth and plot to support that! Oh wait, there IS no plot, except for everyone is cheating on everyone, and so much swearing and cursing. Awful. When you do not know what to do and how to write - throw in some nudity, and more nudity, and let everyone curse, and swear.

Everybody is an antagonist. Everyone is negative, whether the primitive, poor, redneck and "patriots" and churchgoers who end up being morbid murderers or everybody else who care of nothing but getting or being laid, drowned in lies, cheating, alcohol and drugs. And awful swearing. Come on. We do not talk like that. May be the ones who wrote and created this miserable show. Pathetic and misleading. So negative and unoriginal. I do not support and do not recommend.
  • This show is NOT just a regular cop drama or a clichéd murder mystery. It is much much more and has already proved so in the first episode. Much is expected from it and for now looks like the next True Detective.

    Warning: Spoilers
Serbian cinema has always been vulgar and full of unnecessary swearing, debauchery and nudity that is not relevant to the plot whatsoever, but now it transitioned to TV, apparently. The second season scene that irked me most is the one where the female police detective casually has sex with a suspect, everything but genitalia visible, and then reporting that she gathered whatever information from him. This is just one of the authors' bizarre fantasies, sleeping with suspects being a part of the job of a policewoman and all. Come on, what century and what genre is this? The excessive swearing and constant watering down of the plot is a given.

Very nice story. It stuck me to the screen until I watched it all. And awesome acting too.

But Jesus Christ with smoking those cigarettes through the scenes. That's sick and insane!👎👎👎
