Throughout its 12-season, 12-year run, "The Big Bang Theory" featured a ton of guest stars — just the list of "Star Trek" veterans alone is pretty long, in fact. One of those "Star Trek" favorites just so happens to be Wil Wheaton, who first shows up as "himself" (more on that distinction shortly) in season 3 to emotionally terrorize Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). This long-running arc on the show, which continued through the final season, almost didn't happen — because Wheaton was totally against the show and the idea of appearing on it.
In Jessica Radloff's 2022 book "The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series," Wheaton and the series' co-creator Bill Prady revealed that it was quite a hassle to get Wheaton on the show, but not only did he appear in nearly every season (just skipping...

Actor Wil Wheaton has had a fairly unusual career, rocketing to fame at an early age first in the film "Stand By Me." His star only rose when he starred as Wesley Crusher on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," though he felt sabotaged by a "Star Trek" producer who stopped him from chasing additional film roles. When "Next Gen" ended, Wheaton was regularly in voice acting and small television roles before becoming a part of the pop culture conversation once more, but this time as a fictionalized version of himself on the hit CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory." In the series, which follows a group of geeky friends as they try to navigate adulthood while still partially firmly planted in adolescence, Wheaton plays an evil version of his real-life self and the arch-nemesis of the show's primary protagonist, Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). What started as a small cameo turned...

Grifters and con artists might be the shadiest characters on TV, but damn, do we love them.
Whether they’re pulling off elaborate heists, spinning lies so smoothly you’d believe every word, or charming their way out of trouble, these hustlers turn deception into an art form.
They might bend the rules (and occasionally break a few laws), but their wit, charm, and unpredictable antics keep us hooked every time.
(Fox/Screenshot)
With clever schemes and magnetic personalities, they blur the line between hero and antihero, leaving us wondering if we’d root for them or fall for their cons ourselves.
TV just wouldn’t be the same without these masters of mischief keeping us on our toes.
So, who are the greatest grifters ever to grace the small screen? Let’s find out.

The holiday season is all about spreading cheer, working hard behind the scenes, and making magic happen — and what better way to imagine it than with some of TV’s most beloved characters donning elf hats?
From their industrious work ethics to their boundless charm (or even chaotic energy), these characters would fit right in at Santa’s workshop.
Whether wrapping gifts, cracking jokes, or keeping the holiday spirit alive, they have the right skills to make the season shine.
(Patrick Harbron/Hulu)
And let’s be honest, picturing some of them with pointy shoes and jingling bells is just too good to pass up.
So, who’s ready to sleigh this holiday season as the ultimate elf squad?
Let’s meet the merry bunch who’d give Santa’s helpers a run for their candy canes!

When Aldis Hodge says Cross, the Amazon Prime Video adaptation of James Patterson’s book series, came to him at the right time, the 38-year-old actor is not just talking about his on-screen portrayal of the famed detective.
Alex Cross, the Washington D.C. law enforcer dealing with grief, loss and social injustice, is a role Hodge says he could have landed in comfortably earlier in his career. What made the timing of the pulse-pounding thriller perfect is a role Hodge has spent decades in the industry preparing himself for. “I was looking for a leading position, not just as a lead actor,” he says. “I also wanted to be a partner.”
In Cross-showrunner Ben Watkins, Hodge has found a creative ally that not only provides him with career-elevating material but has taken him under his wing as executive producer on the series. “I told him, ‘I’ve been in...

Timothy Hutton and Leverage: Redemption producer Electric Entertainment have settled a legal battle over his dismissal from the reboot after he was accused of sexual assault.
Lawyers for Hutton on Monday informed the court of the deal, which resolves claims from the actor and counterclaims from Electric. The agreement is conditioned on the completion of certain undisclosed terms within 45 days. Further details weren’t revealed.
Hutton alleged in a lawsuit filed in 2022 that his deal to star, executive produce and direct at least one episode of Leverage: Redemption included a provision that guaranteed him at least $3 million “regardless of whether Electric actually utilized his services in the production of the series.” He said the deal closed in February 2020, a month before reports surfaced that a woman had filed a complaint to the Vancouver police department alleging Hutton raped her in 1983 when she was 14.

Leverage: Redemption star Aldis Hodge clarifies his return as Alec Hardison in season 3. After a bit of an absence from audiences, with the most recent episode of the crime drama revival airing in January 2023, Leverage: Redemption season 3 is set to debut on Prime Video in 2025 after moving from Amazon's ad-supported Freevee streaming service. Although the primary cast is all expected to return for the upcoming installment, there have been questions about how much Hodge will be involved.
In recent comments to TVLine, Hodge clarified that even though he will reprise the role of Hardison, viewers might not get to see too much of the skilled hacker. Hodge has been making the rounds, promoting his new Prime Video show Cross, which is based on the James Patterson novels, and he says that he will not be appearing too much in Leverage: Redemption season because of his work on Cross season 2:...

There have been several movies based on James Patterson’s popular series of novels featuring psychologist/ police detective Alex Cross. I’ve not read the books, but Morgan Freeman set the bar high for the character in 1997’s Kiss The Girls, and 2001’s Along Came A Spider. Tyler Perry took a break from zany comedies to try the role in 2012’s Alex Cross. He did fairly well, but the movie didn’t. This debut season of “Cross” lands unfortunately closer to the latter end of the spectrum than to Freeman’s.
Next up is Aldis Hodge filling those shoes in a 10-episode streaming series on Amazon Prime. I was hopeful because I truly enjoyed his Alec Hardison role in the light caper series”Leverage”. He was so important to its entertainment value that the biggest shortcoming of the reboot – “Leverage: Redemption” – is that he’s only a recurring character,...

With a new take on James Patterson’s famous detective series, “Cross,” Prime Video’s newest crime story quickly became a hit. The show, which starts on November 14, introduces fans to Alex Cross, a brilliant Washington, D.C., homicide detective walking a fine line between personal tragedy and professional determination.
This isn’t your normal movie based on a book. Instead of directly adapting one of Patterson’s more than 30 books, the series creates a brand-new story that stays true to Alex Cross while adding something new. The main plot of the show is about Cross after the terrible murder of his wife, Maria. This loss has left him mentally broken but driven at work.
The series immediately stands out by going deep into Cross’s complicated world. He is a detective with a Ph.D., the widowed father of two young children, and dealing with sadness while trying to keep up his professional edge.

What to do with the character of Alex Cross has been a hard case for Hollywood to crack. Bestselling author James Patterson introduced the ace detective to the world in 1993 with “Along Came a Spider,” launching a rich world centered around the hero psychologist and investigator now comprising more than 30 books. That series has collectively sold more than 100 million copies, which is presumably why Hollywood keeps trying to get it right.
Alex Cross first showed up on the big screen back in 1997, with Morgan Freeman in “Kiss the Girls,” followed by “Along Came a Spider,” named for the very first novel, with Freeman again, in 2001. And then in 2012, Tyler Perry took over in “Alex Cross,” controversially replacing Idris Elba.
With Aldis Hodge, “Cross,” the latest adaptation from Amazon’s Prime Video, finally gets it right.

About six years ago, one Alex Cross passed the torch to another. In 2018, Aldis Hodge had the title role in the film Brian Banks, about a real-life star football player who was falsely accused of rape in high school and tried to make it to the NFL after he was released from prison. The great Morgan Freeman played Banks’ prison mentor, an experience Hodge describes as “awesome.” But there was one moment that especially stood out. “Mr. Freeman leaned over to our director, Tom Shadyac, and he whispered something,” Hodge recalls.

Prime Video's Cross brings the exciting characters conceived by James Petterson back to the small screen, but this wouldn't be possible without its exceptional cast. The 2024 crime drama series is directed and created by Ben Watkins, who is best known for Burn Notice (2007) and Quest to Ref (2002). Now, Cross arrives on Prime Video on November 14, 2024, with a first season that will dive into the story of Patterson's Alex Cross.
James Patterson's Alex Cross book series got their start back in 1993, and there have since been 32 books published. These stories outline the work of psychologist detective Alex Cross, who solved thrilling mysteries by diving into the minds of the worst murders. To bring Patterson's books to life, Watkins has brought actors like Aldris Hodge, Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Ryan Eggold, and more aboard for a thrilling, action-packed crime drama fresh from Prime Video.

The popular revival series Leverage: Redemption is returning for a third season, but big changes are coming on the horizon for the show's new episodes. Coming as a continuation of Leverage, which aired its final episode in 2012, Redemption follows Nate Ford's widow, Sophie Devereaux, as she reunites his original crew to continue their crusade against corporate greed and government malfeasance. Like its predecessor, Leverage: Redemption takes the procedural format and turns it on its ear with clever plots that serve up weekly doses of satisfying social justice.
The first two seasons of the continuation were met with rave reviews, and it's clear that the team behind Leverage hasn't missed a step, even after a decade. Dean Devlin returned to once again serve as executive producer, and series creators John Rogers and Chris Downey also returned. Though having worked since he was a kid, Hodge found his first breakout hit with a key role in TNT's Leverage, which he would reprise in a recurring fashion for its sequel show Redemption, and finding increasing success with everything from Straight Outta Compton to The Invisible Man and One Night in Miami.... Hodge has also been steadily building his filmography behind the camera, serving as a producer on Cross as well as co-writing and producing the sci-fi thriller Parallel with his brother, Edwin Hodge.
Mustafa, on the other hand, has taken an interesting route in his career, beginning as a wide receiver in the NFL before turning his attention to acting in the late '00s. He most notably became a household name thanks to being the main star...

Television has continued to evolve for good, bad, and sometimes ugly.

"He's not going to stop unless I make him stop." Prime Video has unveiled the full official trailer for their new crime thriller series titled Cross, the latest adaptation from James Patterson's thriller novels. Cross is an adaptation of the Alex Cross series, and will be streaming in 2024. Aldis Hodge stars as Alex Cross - detective and forensic psychologist, uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims, in order to identify—and ultimately capture—the murderers. The series is created by producer and writer Ben Watkins, and produced by Paramount Television Studios & Skydance Television. The main cast also includes Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Eloise Mumford, Ryan Eggold, Mercedes de la Zerda, plus Jennifer Wigmore as Chief Anderson. It's definitely not a comedy series, this looks seriously dark and unsettling with some crazy twists and turns. Maybe even supernatural?...

Fans of Leverage: Redemption are hoping to hear more about Season 3. Here's an update on when the show will return!
Leverage was a great hit for TNT when it debuted in 2008. The plotline was Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton), a former insurance fraud investigator, bands with a pack of crooks: grifter Sophie (Gina Bellman), thief Parker (Beth Reisgraf), "hitter" Eliot (Christian Kane) and hacker Hardison (Aldis Hodge). The group pulls con games and thefts to bring down the rich and corrupt and give the proceeds to the victims of such crooks.
The show ran five seasons, ending in 2012. In 2021, Freevee revived it as Leverage: Redemption. The plotline was Nate had died and the rest of the team reunited with Noah Wyle as Harry, a former corporate lawyer who had seen the light to help them out. Hodge's movie career meant Hardison was mostly absent with Aleyse Shannon joining as new hacker Brenna.

If shows like Oceans 11 or Leverage got you hooked on the perfect plan coming together through unconventional teamwork and heart, this series is for you. While paying homage to genre standouts, The Green Glove Gang puts its own spin on the “person with a past turns skills into a new purpose” trope.
Where many heist stories center on cocky criminals focusing solely on the take, this series humanizes its thieves. We learn their motivations through flashbacks revealing life experiences, not brags. Like Andy in The Shawshank Redemption gaining perspective through ordeals, time has given these women wisdom surpassing skill.
Season 2 sees their reluctant return sparked by loved ones in trouble, a callback to Sneakers exploring how family pulls outsiders back to dangerous lives. Yet intimacy, not payday, drives their planning. Scene choreography highlights discussion, not dangerous bravado, harkening to Leverage’s family dynamic over adrenaline.
Details will make aficionados smile.

As a small-screen veteran, Zachary Quinto is no stranger to building a television persona, much like the role in Heroes that made him a household name.
The actor then went on to be a veteran of the hit horror show American Horror Story, appearing in multiple seasons starting as early as 2022, during the show's eleventh season.
Now, the TV titan is trying his hand at a medical drama, which has become its own creature in the television industry.
But if there's one thing the actor is good at, it's coming across as calm and collected, much like his character Spock from the Star Trek films.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is heading into its second season with its third showrunner at the helm.
Showrunner Albert Kim, who replaced creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, is also exiting the Netflix live-action series. Co-executive producer Christine Boylan and exec producer Jabbar Raisani — both of whom were hired by Kim — will take over as the drama’s third showrunners for the previously announced second and third seasons.
Sources say Kim’s intention was to lay the foundation for season one of Avatar: The Last Airbender after stepping in for the beloved franchise’s creators. Given the long turnaround time in crafting the series — Netflix ordered it in 2018, the creators left in late 2020 and the show didn’t debut until February 2024 — sources say Kim was ready to move on to new opportunities.

Timothy Hutton's role in Leverage: Redemption was written out due to serious rape allegations against him. Leverage: Redemption continued successfully without Nate Ford, focusing on other key characters from the original series. Hutton is in a legal battle with the studio for $3 million and has had limited acting roles post-controversy, including a minor role in Women of the Movement.
Contains discussion of sexual assault allegations and subsequent legal proceedings.
Leverage returned in 2021 with the revival Leverage: Redemption, but Timothy Hutton's Nate Ford was missing. 2008's Leverage ran for five seasons and united a band of criminals under Nate’s leadership to con the wealthy and corrupt. Although the team first formed as a way for Nate to get revenge on his old company for his son’s death, Leverage quickly grew beyond his vendetta, positioning the revival to continue without him after recent allegations made Tim Hutton’s continued role impossible.

Six massive heart attacks later, and being brought back from dead 4 times I apparently had a 100% blockage in my Lad [left anterior descending artery]. The Widowmaker. If not for my wife, the @losangelesfiredepartment at mullholland and the incredible staff @providencecalifornia St Joseph’s – I wouldn’t be writing this. My chances of survival were virtually nil. I feel great. Humbled once more. Home tomorrow!” That would put Sheppard back home on Monday, a tremendous turnaround.
