I just finished the last episode of season 3 and have to say that Superman & Lois is every bit as good as I thought it would be! Admittedly, I'm huge fan of Superhero movies/shows and Superman and Batman have been my favorite since childhood so I was really looking forward to this since it was announced and has not disappointed. While Henry Cavill is the best Superman ever (my opinion of course) and Tom Welling (Smallville) was the best on TV, Tyler Hoechlin more than held his own and makes a great Superman/Clark Kent! I admit that the kids can be a little annoying at times and are the only negative on a great show. This is the best CW show since the early seasons of Arrow and the Flash. It's too bad it's ending next season.
  • Superman and Lois is the best DC CW show outside of Arrow. Tyler Hoechlin is so much better than I expected as Superman and Clark Kent. I hope he continues to play this character for years. They probably could've cast a better Lois though, Elizabeth Tulloch is just not a good Lois Lane and looks much older than her age for some reason. This is a Superman show unlike any that's ever been made, it focuses a lot more on his family and his personal life than we've ever seen. I didn't think I would like that part of the show as much but I do, they make it very interesting and of course all the scenes with him as Superman are amazing. It has a cinematic feel to it. I definitely recommend this show to any superhero fan.
  • Superman & Lois is far more entertaining than its fairly generic title might suggest. The series makes the most of Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch's chemistry, utilizing the two characters and their romance in a way Supergirl never could. Superman & Lois may feel utterly divorced from the rest of the Arrowverse, but that's just as likely to be a selling point for many viewers. The only thing to hope from this show that it remains a balanced blend of genres but not a soap opera like others on CW. However, the premier is really likeable and that intense cinematography gives a touch of man of Steel mixed in Smallville. Really hope the writing and script remains creative and entertaining.

I havent been a fan of the CW superhero shows for a long time and I watched this just to see what they had done. What a surprise! Well produced, good strong story to start, you feel the strength characters right from the begining. Just hope this doesnt end up going like the other CW shows with silly story lines, too main pointless characters and the need to add team mate after team mate. This felt like Superman lets keep that.
  • What a refreshing take on Superman again. I finally feel like I'm watching the character I've been reading for the last 30+ years. They get him so right! The cinematography is amazing and it feels like I'm watching a movie each week and not a TV show. I'm so happy CW/WB green lit this show because it's the best Superman portrayal in the last 15 years.
  • Reminds me of early Arrow or early Flash, which were great until they went downhill at an alarming rate. I hope this show can remain consistent.

    hi
"Superman & Lois" shines with family dynamics and thrilling action.
  • It's good, but it's incredible how one can take the phenomenal world of Superman and make it so hacky. I kid you not, EVERY single scene that's not crime fighting is literally a therapy session of some sort. An argument, conflict resolution, family squabbles, some teenager throwing a tantrum or endangering others, causing a scene for no reason, etc. Ironically the most interesting story growth could come out of the teens and their derived powers, use of X-Krypto, etc.. but I said could, COULD but it doesn't. Shoot and a-miss.

There are at least 10 side conversations each episode about some melodrama, and to add to it, action scenes derive or uproot from these unreal chit-chats that no real regular family would be having. Only way one can really overlook this nonsense is the fact that the show is in fact rated PG, so it's targeted at families. It's like a trend at this point that any adolescents in lead roles will head straight in this direction no matter what. I may be butt-hurt but only because it could have been a bit better in the story department. Thank goodness for fast-forwarding.
  • Not a CW fan at all, but this show surprised me. The effects and overall tone are that of a Cable premium show.

Simple critique....less dialogue between family members, neighbors, business owners, etc. Too much drama!! Not to mention "couple" issues. Geez...do we need to drag them on....both brothers.
  • I generally can't stand CW. Boring plot lines, poorly written, very cheesy and poor sense of tone but I was shocked by this show. I watched it on recommendation. I had a lot of trepidation, but within 10mins I was in. Really good casting, excellent tone throughout and a sense of 'realism that CW has really failed to do in the past. It's a very fresh take on saturated genre and overworked superhero and I'm excited to see where this show goes. I suspect it will get chappy after the first season, as usual, but I'm looking forward to this first one.
  • I am disappointed with the direction of season two what a snooze fest. The storyline just doesn't make sense anymore, the acting at times just very cringe! .Season one was so much better!
  • I know it's a family drama, but maybe that's the problem. Superman is usually action with drama and sometimes a little comedy, but I forget about the cool action in this series because EVERYONE, like ALL THE CHARACTERS constantly evaluate each others actions and CONSTANTLY stalk about their feelings. I loved Smallville and I love rom coms too, but Clark's family and their friends in this series whine all the time it's exhausting. They also cry all the time and I noticed how each of the characters personal frustrations built up during every episode and then they yell at each other, confess their emotions and talk about it at the end of every episode. But what's the point if they do it all over again every episode!? STOP WHINING PLEASE!!! It's like they turned Superman and Lois into ongoing family therapy and I really just want the lead characters to do their jobs instead, such as fighting an evil plot against a villain. The villains in this series are instead secondary and not memorable at all and I don't feel they evolve around and manipulate Superman like they usually do in Superman comics and movies. Instead the focus of the series evolves around family issues and crappy teenage drama and I'm sorry, but I couldn't care less, because the storytelling and acting isn't convincing. I have sat through many semi-bad movies and series and still left entertained, but this Superman & Lois series is unnecessarily exhausting to watch, I loose interest in the show.
  • Let's be honest I didn't have any expectations with this show. The CW has done nothing but disappointed us with the last 3 shows they have made (supergirl, black lighting, batwoman) I will say that those shows are getting better though... except for batwoman... but this is off to a solid start and I'm just judging it off the pilot but it does everything, checks the boxes and more. Can't wait for more.
  • I am not a fan of CW superhero tv series since Smallville production was taken by this network after WB TV and UPN merged. I liked the first season of Arrow but other stuff - I was never into it. But this... This is something different. Fantastic score gives every scene the PROPER - for me at least - Superman vibe - not just the hopeful vibe but kind of a darker tone too. Something close to a sci-fi atmosphere. It's hard to explain. It just fits perfectly and is enriching the show. The conclusion of the first episode wasn't hard to figure out. I was only waiting for it to happen but it's fine. It shows a lot of today's world problems and it "hits the spot" with showing them. I would say that the world looks very realistic. I only don't like the costume that much. I hope they will improve it. The upper part - near shoulders and neck doesn't look natural for Tyler Hoechlin. I didn't feel any excitment seeing him in that costume. But it's the least of problems or may I say - the only that I had with the first episode. Of course it will stick for the rest of the series but I hope they will really improve it for the second one. The show looks promising and I think it's taking a little bit from Smallville's first few seasons. I am curious what will happen to Kent's sons. And that is the most important thing when watching a show - it leaves you with wanting to know what will happen next. Don't want to give any details about the story but I hope that the hero part will only be Clark's part if you know what I mean. I don't want this to turn into another pseudo-Justice League flick. It's a show about Superman and let it be about THE Superman and his wife Lois Lane - THE one and only - Clark Kent, the one and only Lois Lane. Good job. It's nice that it's on HBO GO.

This is my first review for "Superman and Lois", as I wanted to watch at least the entire first season in order to have a more overall and adequate view on the show. However, Episode 11 made me come here now and say it - This is Superman! Even from the very first minutes of the Pilot I could tell that the creators of these series do care about Superman and will try to pay their respects to the best hero ever in the best possible way ever! As someone who has grown up with Christopher Reeve's Superman, I had always had my doubts about everyone and anyone who has put on the cape ever since, Tyler Hoechlin included. Even after seeing him in a few of the Supergirl episodes, I still didn't feel he is right for the part. However, the unique way "Superman and Lois" is shot, the brilliant cinematography, the incredible writing, the music have all given Mr Hoechlin the opportunity to make Superman feel so real and so... Supermanish! I love how much of the true nature of this hero they have managed to show here! The tone of the show is both light-hearted, yet quite serious when needed to be. I've never liked the "Man of Steel" darker tone or suit. Here we are treated to a Superman who is capable of being so charming (coming from a guy haha) and full of positivity, yet soo intimidating when needed to be (such as the standoff scene in Ep.6 with the soldiers trying to take Tag into custody). All actors are doing a fantastic job and I am really grateful for the environment everyone working on the show have managed to create for the audience :) As another fan had written somewhere, at first I thought that this might be a guilty pleasure for me. It is a lot more now! Every episode feels like watching a fantastic movie, only a bit shorter :) Guys, please keep up the good work! I really hope that what you will bring many more wonderful Superman moments to us :) Cheers from Bulgaria :)
  • This brings alot of memories, truly brings justice to the characters and story! Every characters nailed it.. and this series and the actors must win the Emmy! They all deserve it .. This is such a blast!!!
  • I really enjoyed the first season - it actually felt like a fresh start. But with only 3 episodes into season 2, I'm starting to see the same transition to "soap opera" that happened to Arrow and The Flash. We'll see what's going to happen, but I'm not going to keep my hopes up very high anymore when it comes to DC shows.

The 6 stars I gave is an average - 8 for s01 and 4 for s02 so far. I'm going to update it at the end of s02 (if it's watchable enough for me to finish it)

The story is very comprehensive and not too confusing. It's really simple and easy to follow, exactly how a Superman and Lois story should be.

    6/10
    Drama
The show is ok. It's watchable and enjoyable, but could be better. Personally, I'm pretty tired of superhero shows being so full of drama between people and so little to do with interesting story-line and superhero stuff. And in this particular show my biggest issue is Lois. So overly dramatic, always angry and yelling and just a toxic mother tbh.
  • Warning: Spoilers
This specific episode is very good. I didn't think The CW employed any good writers, but here we are. The Lane-Kent family dynamics are very interesting. Each character in the family is also interesting as an individual.

I was shocked to see the real issues of meth and reverse mortgages come up. Hollywood elitists are usually too out of touch to know anything about the struggles of people in small communities. Or they do know about those pains, and they sadistically revel in the suffering of people in "red states."

I was shocked to hear Clark mention his father going to church in a no-big-deal way. It was almost as if going to church might be an individual choice and not something that is 100% bad all the time and only horrible bad people would ever consider such a monstrous activity.

I don't trust The CW. I think they will find a way to ruin this show. But for now, I am very interested in Lois's investigation into corporate corruption, in Clark's turn as a family farmer, and in Jordan and Jonathan's coming of age. Please, let this show be good for at least one season. Don't let the Twitter mob poison the whole world with their hatred and intollerance for anyone outside of their belief system.

First season looks goods....thank god.i hope it doesnt become like other cw shows.
  • I liked first few episodes and they started dragging it. Same as the flash. I wanted to watch action drama not family drama with every episode someone crying or BS talk. Its my bad expected too much from CW.
  • I hadn't heard of this show until it premiered but man was I pleasantly surprised! I think there are so many things to like about this show.

First of all I am over the moon about the fast pace of the show because I am unbelievably feed up with soooo many shows dragging on padding the runtime of a weak script with slow scenes, music montages etc. This show has really tight editing and moves a long with fast momentum. Love that.

Also as someone else here mentioned it's a relief for a change to see other human dynamics. Brothers try to support each other and not just rival. Husband and wife support each other and communicate open and constructively instead of the overused cliches of man being bottled up, wife nagging/attacking etc. Other characters also seem to be shown individually with more nuances. Also really like this.

I'll admit I'm in it mostly for the display of Superman's powers 'cause I've always been most fascinated by this superhero - so I am really hoping for more of these scenes preferably not with that lame kryptonite in every other one. It's too easy a gift for lazy writing. Always bugged me. But anyway so far I'm rooting for this show. Bigly! :)

Amazing graphics to see in a TV show. Just wow. Character selecting is also good but i think they could select a more prettier actress to Lois since she is the wife of superman lol.
