The actors had training for their roles from Andy Ansah, the former Southend United striker, who choreographed the film's matches.

The first Indian film to be distributed in Pakistan after a more than three-decade ban on films from that country. It is because the film is a UK-India co-production and because of negotiations with the film's distributor in Dubai that a release in Pakistan was allowed.

The film was previously titled " Goal". Due to not getting the rights to the title, the producer changed it.

Saif Ali Khan was signed for the film but was finding practice hard.He opted out.
