The Emmy-winning actor recently appeared on Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett’s SmartLess podcast, and talked about his excitement to get cast as Dumbledore. Did Rupert Grint give bizarre gifts to Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe?(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and Daniel Radcliffe had a bittersweet goodbye. They devoured a decade filming Harry Potter together. The set felt like family, making the adieu tough. So, when the final film wrapped, they made sure to mark the moment with parting gifts—some thoughtful, some quite random. And leave it to Grint to take the most uncommon trail.
The Harry Potter trio had always been tight-knit, sharing a bond that stretched beyond the cameras. They practically grew up together, navigating fame, schoolwork, and long shoots side by side. So when the franchise ended, they didn’t just stroll away. They swapped keepsakes to remind them of the years they’d spent as Hogwarts’ golden trio.
But what did they actually give each other? Grint, true to his quirky nature, went with trumpets. Yes,...

Did Quentin Tarantino’s mother doubt his career and abilities?(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Quentin Tarantino isn’t one to back down—primarily when it comes to his adoration for writing. The legendary director of Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill always knew he was meant to tell stories, even when others negated him. His love for screenwriting started young, but not everyone regarded his knack.
During a 2021 interview on The Moment podcast with Brian Koppelman (via People), Tarantino recalled how his mother, Connie Zastoupil, dismissed his passion for writing when he was in middle school. School wasn’t his thing, and teachers weren’t exactly his biggest fans either. He was the kid who ignored math problems in favor of scribbling screenplays in his notebook—something his teachers saw as defiance rather than creativity. He was even “officially known as the dumb kid in class.”
But the real gut punch came at home.

Spider-Man Actresses Playing Tennis(Photo Credit –Facebook/Instagram)
Hollywood casting has a way of weaving together unexpected connections. But here’s a fun one—every actress who’s played Spider-Man’s love interest has ended up on a tennis court, at least on screen. Call it a coincidence or just a weird industry pattern, but Kirsten Dunst, Emma Stone, and Zendaya have all taken a swing at playing tennis players in films.
Kirsten Dunst was the foremost to stroll onto the tennis court. After playing Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, she starred in Wimbledon (2004). The actress played Lizzie Bradbury. She is a rising tennis star, who falls for a struggling pro (played by Paul Bettany). It wasn’t just a casual sports flick—Dunst actually trained to make her moves look legit.
In 2017, Emma Stone played tennis icon Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes.

Chris Pratt Moneyball Audition(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Chris Pratt has always been full of surprises, but his Moneyball audition? That was on another level. Imagine walking into a room with Brad Pitt and the director, Bennett Miller. Most people would freeze. But not Pratt. He flipped the script—literally—and made a move no one saw coming.
During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show (via The Independent), Pratt shared the wild story. He was auditioning for the 2011 sports drama when Miller critiqued his performance, saying him to imagine he is “a guy auditioning next to Brad Pitt.” But instead of panicking, Pratt doubled down.
“I said: ‘Well, then how about this? This is my house, and you can start by taking your f***ing feet off my desk!’ I kicked him out, and I said: ‘You, Brad, get out! You guys go knock on the door and come back...

Did Ryan Gosling not chase an Oscar for Blue Valentine? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Ryan Gosling is no stranger to Hollywood’s biggest night. With two Oscar nominations under his belt—one for Half Nelson and another for La La Land—you’d think he’d be all in for awards season. But when it came to his 2011 drama Blue Valentine, he was perfectly fine sitting this one out.
Back in 2011, Gosling had a lot of words around him. With films like Drive and The Ides of March, the discussion of Oscar nominations was inevitable. When Entertainment Weekly asked which role he was backing for an Oscar push, he had a refreshingly honest answer. He didn’t really care. The only real perk? More exposure for smaller films.
“Outside of the awareness that it brings to your film, I don’t really see what you get out of it. So for me,...

This article touches upon some potentially sensitive and very sad subjects. Please read on with caution.
Romantic heartbreak is ever-present in media, which is why countless sad romance movies have become ingrained in the pop culture lexicon. Jack's infamous demise in Titanic, Romeo and Juliet's deaths in Shakespeare's famous play, and Jenny's succumbing to a terminal illness in 1970's Love Story represent some of the most melancholic moments in film history. Even if cinematic history has trained audiences to root for a happy ending, a properly done gut-wrenching romance can be just as satisfying.
Romance movies can be heartbreaking for several different reasons. Forbidden love, breakups, dire circumstances and tragic deaths are all significant elements in cinema's saddest romance movies. There is simply no shortage of devastating romance films that will keep viewers dabbing at their eyes for hours.

Michelle Williams is currently starring on Broadway in Death Becomes Her and someone sent her fan mail to the theatre, but thought she was the other Michelle Williams!
The Destiny’s Child singer shared a video of herself reading a letter she received from a fan in Germany, who thought she was the Oscar-nominated actress.
“I received this letter, and I can’t wait to dig in and tell you guys what it says. Alright, it says, ‘Dear Michelle Williams, I hope this letter finds you in great spirits. My name is Philip, and I have been an avid fan of your incredible performances in both film and theater,’” Michelle began.
While Michelle is best known for singing, she has made several Broadway appearances and has appeared in some movies too. But as the letter continued, it was clear the person intended it for the other Michelle.

It’s hard to believe now but before taking 12 long years to follow 1987’s Full Metal Jacket with Eyes Wide Shut in 1999, the famously meticulous Stanley Kubrick was comparatively prolific — in the ’60s alone he released four of his 13 features. In these days of instant gratification, a director taking longer than three years is either deemed to be M.I.A. or about to pop up with a secret film made entirely under the radar. But absence does make the heart grow fonder, and these five directors can expect a warm welcome in 2025.

The reboot of the classic Universal Monsters property The Wolf Man from Blumhouse Productions and The Invisible Man (2020) director Leigh Whannell reached theatres last month – and JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray wasn’t very impressed with it, giving it a 6/10 review that you can read Here and describing it as “well-acted, but not very scary.” Clearly, he wasn’t the only one who was unimpressed. While The Invisible Man made over $139 million at the global box office, Wolf Man has been crawling toward the $30 million mark. Now, it has been revealed that Wolf Man is set to receive a digital release tomorrow, February 4th, with a physical media release to follow on March 18th.

Why Did Ryan Gosling & Michelle Williams’ Blue Valentine Scene Spark Controversy? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Ryan Gosling didn’t just act in Blue Valentine; he stirred up a storm. The indie drama pushed boundaries with its raw portrayal of intimacy, but one scene, in particular, made waves. The moment Ryan goes down on Michelle sparked controversy, debates, and an Nc-17 rating before it was adjusted to R.
For Gosling, the backlash made no sense. In an interview with The Guardian, he broke it down. “The s** felt real—it wasn’t s**y or ‘a s** scene,’ and that’s why we got into trouble. You shouldn’t be penalized for doing a good job.” His frustration was clear. Hollywood had no problem with over-the-top violence, but an emotionally charged moment between two characters? That was somehow too much.
Michelle Williams stood by the scene, calling it a landmark moment in cinema.

Director Leigh Whannell gave the classic Universal Monsters a shot of modern life in 2020 with his thrilling new take on "The Invisible Man." In the aftermath of that success, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse set about reinventing another monster in the form of the Wolfman. Originally, Oscar-nominee Ryan Gosling ("Barbie") was set to star in "Wolf Man" that had director Cory Finley ("Bad Education") flirting with the director's chair before Derek Cianfrance ("Blue Valentine") came on board. Things changed a lot along the way, with Whannell ultimately settling into the director's chair. But why did Gosling drop out?
Gosling is still credited on "Wolf Man" as a producer, for what it's worth. Yet, he doesn't appear on screen. Instead, Christopher Abbott stars as Blake, the ill-fated man who becomes a werewolf. In a recent interview with CinemaBlend timed to the film's release, Whannell explained that the film didn't change a lot once Abbott took over.

Of all the attempts from Universal to revamp their classic creature features for new generations, the Wolf Man stands upright as one of the most compellingly tricky beasts to wrangle. Unlike other contenders like “Dracula” and “Frankenstein,” both entrenched in enduring pieces of 19th-century literature and subsequently retooled ad nauseam by a long string of auteur filmmakers, this creature remains firmly associated with the studio’s famed 1941 Lon Chaney, Jr. vehicle; say “werewolf,” and your imagination runs to any number of varying iterations of the classic beast, but say “Wolf Man” and you know exactly which hairy-faced, bipedal canine is creeping through the fog.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are parents to two beautiful daughters, Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee. Mendes first became a mother when she was 40 and had her second child at 42. Mendes once wanted to adopt children as she believed that she did not have the “maternal bone” in her body. It turned out that falling in love with Gosling changed that notion.

In his autobiography "Born To Run," Bruce Springsteen wrote how when he was first struggling as a musician, songwriting was the skill he chose to concentrate on refining. His writing was "the most distinctive thing [he] had going," he felt back during the early '70s — as do his legions of fans to this day.
When I listen to Springsteen, I don't just feel a story being told or a mood being conjured, I feel the characters, as if years of inner life are conveyed in a few minutes. Springsteen's 1982 song "Atlantic City" is one of the most cinematic I've ever heard, with a simple but evocative story (a desperate young man in love turning to crime). The verses of "Atlantic City" escalate the hopelessness, but one coupled with a refrain of possibility in the chorus.

There was a moment when “The Brutalist” could have gone into theaters unrated. It’s not like it hasn’t happened before this year — thank you, “Terrifier 3,” for opening in more than 2,500 theaters unrated and ultimately grossing over $53 million stateside — and the choice only would have fueled the publicity around the Brady Corbet-directed movie, were it to enter theaters sans the MPA imprimatur. Or, the theatrical kiss of death, an Nc-17, eliminating play from most major exhibition chains.
An unrated release looked possible, at least, when the full trailer premiered online December 10, less than two weeks out from opening, without the MPA seal. Sources told IndieWire that A24 was prepared to release the film unrated, while another said that the MPA just hadn’t screened the film until late last week. “The Brutalist,” IndieWire can confirm, ultimately received an R rating this week for “strong sexual content, graphic nudity,...

Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams lived together for Blue Valentine ( Photo Credit – Prime Video )
Director Derek Cianfrance took it to the next level, telling Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling to move in together for a month in the same house where their characters lived. Yeah, you heard that right. They spent a whole month playing house, doing the everyday stuff—except it wasn’t just pretend. It was about making their broken marriage feel as accurate as possible.
The movie charts the rise and fall of a relationship, and Cianfrance split the shoot into three parts. First, the love. Then came the chaos. And in between, he told Williams and Gosling to move in together (with the young actress who played their daughter). The catch? They had to live in the same house where their characters lived. During the day, they played house—shopping for groceries, decorating for fake holidays,...

There’s a reboot of the classic Universal Monsters property The Wolf Man coming our way from Blumhouse Productions and The Invisible Man (2020) director Leigh Whannell, aiming for a January 17, 2025 theatrical release – and while speaking to Empire, Whannell revealed that he drew inspiration from David Cronenberg’s remake of The Fly when he was crafting his take on this classic werewolf story.
Whannell said, “What The Fly did that a lot of other practical-effects-driven horror movies from that time did not do was bring the tragedy out of these practical effects. It wasn’t a joke in The Fly. It was there to illustrate someone who was dying of an illness. I was like, ‘I’ve got to do that.’ It’s not about being funny or icky or gory. This is about the tragedy of the human body falling apart.“

Many of us have faced awkward interactions in public which make us wish for the ground to split in two and give us an escape from the weirdness. Something similar happened to the Gladiator II star when he encountered Ryan Gosling at the BAFTAs.
Paul Mescal recalled sharing an embarrassing moment with the Barbie actor which would make introverts cringe in discomfort. The duo shared eye contact, which the Normal People actor gushed about to his sister, but unfortunately, Gosling heard him. Mescal found it mortifying that the object of his admiration had supposedly overheard his fawning.

Channing Tatum once wore his heart on his sleeve when it came to Zoë Kravitz. His open obsession, as he called it, left no room for chill—he was all in, sharing how head-over-heels he felt. From the outside, their vibe seemed like the kind Hollywood dreams are made of: effortlessly cool, creative, and impossibly stylish.

Ryan Gosling has been a mainstay of both bigger Hollywood blockbusters and smaller, more unique movies for two decades now. After The Notebook (2004), the actor would bounce between these two kinds of movies, with certain films punctuating what is shaping up to be an impressively varied career. He starred in both Blue Valentine (2010), a devastating drama that tugs on the heartstrings, and The Gray Man (2022), a massive Netflix blockbuster action movie.
Some of Gosling's films, however, seem to walk this line and sit in both the auteur camp and the blockbuster camp. Blade Runner 2049 (2017), for example, is a massive sci-fi spectacle of a film, but it also features some complex themes. The same general idea applies to the critically-acclaimed Barbie (2023), in which he played Ken, but also for his Damien Chazelle collaborations, which have both been critically-acclaimed.

Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst lead the cast of director Derek Cianfrance’s crime drama, with Roofman set to debut in 2025.
There’ll be plenty of folks out there keeping an eye out for director Derek Cianfrance’s next film, partly because we’ve had to wait so long for it. It’s been eight years since he made 2016’s The Light Between Oceans, and although he;s since been attached to the odd project, nothing ever came to fruition.
Cianfrance is the director behind Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond The Pines, so any project he attaches himself to will be of interest to people who liked those movies. His latest film, Roofman, stars Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst and tells the true story of Jeffrey Manchester, a career criminal who made a habit of breaking into shops through their roofs (hence the film’s name). Back in 2020, director Leigh Whannell brought the world a well-received modern update of the classic Universal property The Invisible Man. On January 17, 2025, Universal will be releasing Whannell’s take on another classic Universal property, Wolf Man. There aren’t any plans in place for Whannell to continue making new versions of the Universal Monsters – but, if he were to given his pick of which character(s) to resurrect next, he has said that he would go with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Robert Louis Stevenson created the characters of Jekyll and Hyde in his 1886 novella Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which depicts the gripping struggle of two opposing personalities — one essentially good, the other evil — for the soul of one man. The story has received many cinematic adaptations over the years, with one being a 26 minute short film that was released in 1913 and came from companies that...

Saoirse Ronan, the Academy Award-nominated actor in films like Lady Bird, Brooklyn and Little Women, remembers when a very prominent actor was fired days before shooting started on her thriller film, The Lovely Bones. As originally planned, Ryan Gosling would play Ronan's father in the film (despite just a 14-year difference and Gosling being 27), but director Peter Jackson made the abrupt decision to fire Gosling from the movie. Why? An unexpected decision related to... method acting?
The Lovely Bones stars Ronan as Susie Salmon, a 14-year-old student who gets murdered by an unknown stranger. Now in purgatory (or "The In-Between"), Susie tries her best to comfort her family any way she can, but she also helps everyone in finding the murderer who violently took her life. The film was based on Alice Sebold's supernatural drama novel of the same name.

Fresh from starring in this year’s Civil War, Kirsten Dunst will feature in Derek Cianfrance’s in true crime drama Roofman – the director’s first film in eight years.
Kirsten Dunst has a long and storied filmography, but the actor added an undoubted flourish to it this year, leading the cast of Alex Garland’s Civil War. The A24 movie proved to be one of the most viscerally-unforgettable films of the year, reminding us (if indeed we needed reminding) of the power of Dunst’s enduring onscreen presence.
So what’s next for the actor in the wake of that memorable turn? She’ll reportedly be appearing alongside Keanu Reeves and some other big names in Ruben Östlund’sThe Entertainment System Is Down, although given that the premise of that film sees the action take place on a packed Jumbo jet, it could yet be that she’s part of a much wider ensemble.

It’s an often-touted cliche that a great way to win an Oscar is for a performer to portray a real-life person. Cillian Murphy won Best Actor earlier this year for playing J. Robert Oppenheimer in “Oppenheimer,” Jessica Chastain took home Best Actress in 2022 for her portrayal of Tammy Faye Bakker in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” and Rami Malek won Best Actor in 2019 for his depiction of Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
It’s curious, then, that Best Actress has often been rewarded to performers playing fictional characters rather than real people. Over the past decade, 28 of the 50 nominations have been for original turns, with a whopping seven of those winning out of 10. Here’s the complete breakdown.
Two out of 2024’s Best Actress nominees were nominated for playing fictional people. The others were Annette Bening (“Nyad”), Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), and Carey Mulligan (“Maestro”). However,...

Today’s Wolf Man teaser trailer begins with footage of a praying mantis stalking an unsuspecting lunch, striking with lightning-fast speed as the meal feels fangs piercing its exterior. As the words Wolf Man steadily slash onto the screen, the footage shows a remote house in Oregon where a mysterious animal waits in the woods. While trying to adjust to their new lives, Christopher Abbott is attacked by what he says is a ferocious wolf-like creature standing on two legs. As the lycanthropy surges through his system, he changes, leaving...

Yesterday, we got our first look at what was believed to be the new Wolfman design for Universal and Blumhouse's upcoming reboot (titled Wolf Man), with an actor donning a monster costume to jump out at passers-by at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights takeover attraction.
The reveal was met with a decidedly mixed response (and we're probably being kind there) from fans, most of whom felt that the titular lycanthrope looked more like some kind of mutant hillbilly from the Wrong Turn movies than an actual werewolf.
There was speculation that this might simply be a guy in a thrown-together outfit and not indicative of the Wolfman's official look, but insider Daniel Richtman believes this is indeed how the creature will be depicted in the movie - though it is said to "look slightly better in the actual film."
It's certainly... a choice! But we're sure it will look at lot better in the movie,...

Universal has given fans their first look at Leigh Whannell's upcoming Wolf Man, but not through an officially released publicity photo, a poster, or a trailer, but instead, as a character to meet at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. Following the box office and critical disaster of The Mummy, meant to be the first film in Universal's "Dark Universe" franchise, the studio approached Blumhouse Pictures to revive The Invisible Man with director Leigh Whannell at the helm. The movie was a hit, and now Universal Pictures is hoping to have similar success as Whannell and Blumhouse are rebooting The Wolfman, now titled Wolf Man, with Christopher Abbott in the lead role.
Wolf Man has certainly gotten off to a rough start, as the first look at the creature has generated less enthusiastic responses than the studio likely hoped for. X user HHNSpeculationMatt posted a video from his visit to...

Ryan Gosling might have undertaken various roles across different genres but fans love him best for his dramatic portrayals in the romantic genre. From the critically acclaimed The Notebook to Crazy, Stupid, Love, Gosling is Hollywood’s typical ‘nice guy’ (and an actual one at that), who seems to shine best in romantic dramas, whether they be comedy or downright agonizing.

One of his most excruciatingly painful yet beautiful romantic films was La La Land opposite Emma Stone. A bittersweet film, some viewers have gone as far as labeling it a ‘horror movie’ for the emotional rollercoaster it was. However, many seem to forget Gosling’s one Indie film that is so brutal that it even makes his Oscar-winning film look like a joyful dream in comparison.

Throughout most of his career, if you were going to see a Ryan Gosling movie, you were prepared to be bummed. Gosling loved challenging himself as a dramatic actor, carefully selecting projects based on their provocative source material and the auteur director behind them. His bid to break from his matine idol image to prestige actor did not seem desperate because he was consistently magnetic in films such as Half-Nelson, Blue Valentine, Drive, and Blade Runner 2049. However, something flipped in the last handful of years. Gosling, an avatar of "film bros" who portrayed haunted men reckoning with their psychological angst, has suddenly emerged as one of the funniest leading men in Hollywood. While ignored upon release, anyone who has seen The Nice Guys will not stop talking about how hilarious Gosling is as a bumbling private eye. For certain generations, Gosling will be remembered as Ken from Barbie, not as a sad loner.

Glen Powell has shut down recent suggestions that his universal appeal is greater than that of another Hollywood star: Ryan Gosling. While the actor has emerged as the go-to guy for movie projects lately, with some making comparisons between Powell and his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Tom Cruise as a man who can make the box office sizzle by his name alone, the actor isn't about to get big-headed about it. So when an unnamed producer suggested that Powell has more universal appeal than Gosling, and indicated that the latter only appeals to women, Powell took to social media to shut that down politely.
All of this started when the producer made a note that Powell had officially arrived as a movie star, saying, "Audiences now go to movies to see him," but wrapped that up with a bit of shade towards Gosling when they added, "Unlike an actor like...
