  • Note : I'm not critics or movie reviewer just telling my opinion because I'm so dissapointed.

Just ruinnig the vibes of kgf. Everything in this movie is look alikes Kgf movie even the main character looks, dressup and attitude. But too much low on content . Story is too poor. I am just tired of watching same kind of movie AGAIN AND AGAIN AGAIN AND AGAIN AGAIN AND AGAIN . Movie acchi ho sakta tha if they shouldn't try to copy the kgf movie. I didn't like the movie because they ruin the vibe of rocky bhai and the whole kgf movie with poor content. I will give 4 star out of 10 . Big big dissapoint.
  • Shreya Saran's beauty is a long-awaited treat in the movie, and it greatly contributes to my overall appreciation of the film.

However, the complex plot involving political parties and family history can be overwhelming, making it challenging to fully understand the movie.

Simplifying the story would have made it more accessible and enjoyable to a wider audience, allowing for a deeper appreciation of the intended message. Despite the flaws, Shreya Saran's mesmerizing performance remains a highlight, and the movie could have been more engaging with a streamlined plot. In conclusion, while Shreya Saran's beauty shines, simplifying the plot would have made the movie more coherent and impactful..
  • Kabzaa is a gangster drama set in the 1980s in Bengaluru, which follows the life of the protagonist, Raja Narasimha, played by Upendra. The movie explores the murky world of crime, politics, and power, as Raja rises from being a small-time crook to the most powerful and feared gangster in the city.

While the story itself is not groundbreaking, Kabzaa does have some standout moments that make it worth watching. The first half is engaging and sets the stage for what could have been a thrilling ride. However, the second half falls flat, with predictable plot twists and a weak climax.

Despite the flaws in the plot, the performances by the cast are commendable. Upendra delivers a powerful performance as Raja Narasimha, a character who is both ruthless and charming. Jagapathi Babu also shines as the corrupt politician who manipulates Raja to further his own agenda.

The music by Ravi Basrur adds to the overall gritty and edgy feel of the film. However, the background score is too loud in places, taking away from the impact of the scenes.

The cinematography by Karunakar is impressive, capturing the essence of the 1980s Bengaluru. The action sequences, while not particularly innovative, are well choreographed and add to the overall visual appeal of the movie.

While Kabzaa does have its moments, the film ultimately falls short in delivering a satisfying experience. It feels like a missed opportunity to create a memorable gangster epic. Nonetheless, it's worth a watch for the performances and the nostalgic trip to the Bengaluru of the 80s.

In conclusion, Kabzaa is a decent effort that doesn't quite hit the mark. The movie has its ups and downs, but ultimately, it's the performances that keep it afloat. Despite the flaws, Kabzaa is a good one-time watch for fans of the gangster genre. Though, it's not a movie that will leave a lasting impression on you. So, if you're looking for a decently made gangster drama with some memorable moments, give Kabzaa a shot. But, be prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride.
  • I had a terrible time sitting through this random mish-mash of utterly nonsense sequence of unrelated poorly made scenes. In a time when renaissance is happening in the Kannada film world to restore is glorious past, this expands a new low standard. And this is not experimental failure. It is some people's jealously and FOMO about KGF vision and trying to latch on the the wave. But with want intention, I fail to understand.

This movie made me understand the foundations of a cinema - Story, Screenplay, Direction & Editing. This movie forgets about all these, it is non-existent and then sets on to make some crappy dark visual scenes and then try to stich them to make some utterly non-sensical crap. And all the art sets and BGM is left over unused stuff from KGF crammed in last minute unbaked effort to give some bang. No cohesiveness, utterly garbage. I literally cannot even objectively criticize any specific aspects. It is that bad. WTF!!! Seriously. This is one of the most horrible movies I have seen.

The only positives (which can be utilized properly in a different movie) are Shriya Saran and Kiccha Sudeeps's voiceover.
  • This has been one of the most painful experiences I've had watching a kannada movie. Nothing works right from the dialogues to conversations between the lead pair, non lipsyncing character artists, loudest music which makes you want to rip your ears out, nonsensical story with no logic or motive, nothing hits the right spot.

The lead character Arka has a motive only until a certain point, but he goes on a killing spree taking down everyone and capturing everything without any logic, there's no motive behind anything he does.

Shivanna's entry is so bizarre that he is completely wasted. That scene(Actually entire movie) gives a new meaning to "Kuch bhi"

Such movies spoil the image created by KGF and Kantara which try and improve kannada cinema industry standards. Such movies are an insult to their efforts.

I don't know what's wrong with KFI... All actors are mad behind Pan India release. Invest crores and give a KGF feel cinematography add Ravi Basrur BGM overhype the villains add mother sentiment and movie is ready. Story, screenplay, VFX does it synchronise to what you are showing doesn't matter just attract the audience with a high budget & so called Pan India movie will be ready. I really didn't had any expectations on R. Chandru coz we know how good is he in making movies... His past movies are classic examples of dabba direction. But what's wrong with Upendra?? Like Yash, Sudeep, Darshan he also want a multilanguage Pan India movie on his name? Ravi Basrur has exhausted with his music, he just repeats the same KGF style bgm in every movie it actually irritates. Editing and VFX are very poor it looks so fake in few scenes. At every scene a villain enters before getting a screen space he gets killed by hero. Let me be frank R. Chandru wanted to create a hype and want recognition like Prashant Neel but fact is he utterly failed and became a laughingstock. Atleast he should have done some homework, depth in story writing & screenplay. Upendra is a talented person but in these overhyped director story he has lost that authenticity. Sudeep & Shivanna doesn't have minimal screen presence... May be in part 2 they have much to do. In the end a humble request to KFI stop this Pan India stupidity just to fulfill your ego don't spoil the film industry. Let's stick to our language and if it's good everyone will watch now OTT flatforms has removed that language barrier.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Considering the teaser and trailer I expected a lot from the film.

Within just 20 minutes of start of the film, I got an idea how the film is!!

Actors were introduced in way old fashion style.

    Story line is sooo boring.

It doesn't show any emotions between Upendra & his brother.

Climax is worst, Upendra is pointing guns to sudeep & Sudeep is pointing gun to Upendra.

In between these too Shiva Raj Kumar enters & points gun toward both( Sudeep & Upendra). Story writer must have spend much thought into it xD. Lol

Actually climax could have been better only if Shiva Raj Kumar pointed gun towards Sudeep. SRK came to kill Upendra!!
  • First of all hats off to R Chandru sir efforts.

Starting it will take some slow movie but it's just to build story. Visuals are great.

We don't need to mention about acting. Bcz uppi sir ,kichha sudeep sir and all other supporting roles did their role properly

Climax is just mind blowing. Actual story of taking kabzaa of underworld will be start from kabzaa 2.

In Climax Shivanna's entry will be blow every audiance mind. Totally it's just treat for every commercial movie lovers .as it's a total commercial entertrainer movie we must not try to find logic .

I am sure kabzaa 2 will be more interesting to watch..🔥🔥

Kabzaa is a 2023 period epic film created by R. Chandru, it's set in the 1970s and focuses on Arkeshwara, an Indian Air Force pilot who's forced into the life of a gangster after forming deadly rivalries in the lawless gang ridden world of Amarapuram. As one can imagine from seeing that fire trailer, by the way that's a 10/10 trailer, it takes heavy inspiration from KGF. The premise, plot, characters, and aesthetic all take inspiration from it, and there's nothing wrong with that, but it does struggle overall with originality and emotional weight which gives it heavy wasted potential.

The actual plot of the film is a bit too simple, it is for KGF too but they make the most of it by deeply exploring Rocky's characterization and the roles of his enemies. Kabzaa does this but merely brushes major parts off, and there's more exposition than action. But the story itself is followable, only minor confusion by the name dropping of the characters. It follows Arkeshwara leading a normal life until the upcoming election for Chief Minister changes the character's lives. Arkeshwara is in love with Madhumati, who's the daughter of a dreaded king Veer Bahadur, known for owning a massive slave force and being a powerful man during the British Raj. Due to the power vacuum he and multiple gang factions compete for power, leading to his rival gangster Khaleed and his son Sartaaj to start a shootout in Amarapuram. Arkeshwara's courageous brother Sarkeswhara kills Sartaaj and this act changes everybody. Khaleed butchers Sarkeshwara and this may be one of the most emotional parts, though it's quickly glossed over in favor of progressing the plot. Arkeshwara has previously been shown to be cowardly but is put in rage by this, and kills the police officer who betrayed him to Khaleed. Arkeshwara is forced to run and in a short span becomes a self taught gangster who's pit against Khaleed, but he does have help from Veer Bahadur who supports him. Eventually he is allied with Target, another gangster who was self taught like him, and he and his new allies turn against the other gangsters in the area including Bhangira and Malik. The problem is that these plot points happen too fast, these emotional troubles for the main character and characterizations of the villains could have been deeply explored, and they were to an extent in KGF.

The film gets slightly better in the third act than in the middle, when it's shown that Arkeshwara took charge of Bhangira's massive criminal empire for his own safety and had kids with Mandumati, much to the disapproval of Bahadur. It's shown that he craves Arkeshwara's power and despised his daughter for eloping with a gangster, so he turns on them both and kills his daughter's kids. I feel like Arkeshwara should have seen this coming but it can be excused. Bahadur sends the dreaded cop Bhargava Bakshi to apprehend Arkeshwara, but out of nowhere another gangster named Siddantha attacks both of them, and this is to be the plot for the sequel. Overall Kabzaa works as a movie, it has spectacular visuals and among the best soundtrack I've seen in film, it constantly gives you something to be excited about but the writing itself is flawed and you don't know what you're supposed to be feeling. It is worth watching however, heck unlike Rishab Shetty, R. Chandru can actually write a coherent story with likable characters. Hope the sequel can improve on the weak points of this film. I theorize that Siddantha was the gangster who killed Arkeshwara's father in the beginning of the film, and if it's true it would fit perfectly with an arc for the sequel.
  • Movie base totally copied with pathetic KGF where a villain is portrayed as hero in the name of humanity and some of his bad past experience. A mafia don shown as hero and which is also against the system in the name of revenge and his helping nature of poor. These types of movies are making sympathy among general audience for the underworld and actual villains of the society and justifies their acts. This will results in anarchy in the society to make the public against the governments. KGF, Gangs of wasseypur, money heist actually putting the poisonous narratives of leftist and communist to destroy a country.

One of the wonderful making I have seen in recent times. Gripping Fast paced screenplay will hold your nerves. There are plenty of goosebump moments in this movie. Tremendous effort from whole team. Hats off to director R Chandru and his passion, amazing acting by Upendra,KichchaSudeepa and Dr Shiva Rajkumar. Ravi Basrur's background music will keep you in vibration .Waiting for KABZAA PART2. A must watch for all language movie goers. Just go and u will not regret just amazingly story telling. The direction was so brilliant and the elivating the character was awesome. If you a true movie lover and like to watch action movies than this movie is meant for you.
  • Kabzaa (2023) : Movie Review -

    R. Chandru's ambitious action drama, Kabzaa, brings three superstars together: Upendra, Kichcha Sudeep, and Shiva Rajkumar. The biggest is, of course, Upendra Sir, who has defined Kannada cinema with some of his pathbreaking works way before anyone would have imagined it. I am a fan of that Upendra sir, not this. R. Chandru's Magnus opus has no head and no tail. Action, loud BGM, and grandeur-that's all there is to it, and it's totally intolerable. What an absolute waste of time, money, and talent. Just because KGF did wonders at the Indian box office doesn't mean that Sandalwood should have tried to make another one of it and forgotten about itself. KGF is not even in top 10 best films in the last 5-6 years from Kannada cinema, forget in the decade or all-time. Then who had this silly notion that one could try to replicate it with different superstars and directors? Kabzaa is not KGF, but it is a wannabe KGF. While doing so, it did not become either one.

Kabzaa Part 1 kicks off in the pre-independence era with the child of a freedom fighter, Arkeshwara, living with his mother and brother. Soon India gets independence, and the next thing you know, you are in the 1970s with the adult version of Arkeshwara, played by Upendra. He is an Air Force soldier now, but he is forced to join the dark world of the Underworld as his brother is killed by a powerful gangster. To take revenge for his brother's death, Arkeshwara kills the local gangster and becomes a sort of protector, a big-time gangster in Amarapur. Madhumati (Shriya Saran) marries Arkeshwara against her father's wishes, who is a political giant. Arkeshwara's fear spread way up North, and the biggest of gangsters are now after him, alongside a strong cop, Bhargava Bakshi (Kichcha Sundeep). There is a surprise element in the climax, but you'll have to wait for part two for that (including Bhargava's full-fledged role).

Written by R. Chandru alone, Kabzaa is a terrible script for today's era. The conflicts are so old that even your grandpa will call them outdated for his era. And don't ask about logic, because there isn't any. From where it begins to where it ends, there is no connect to it. Kabzaa proves how scattered a screenplay can be. With those overdramatic pauses, irritating blackouts, constant knockout moments, and what not, Kabzaa tests your patience every minute for two long hours. Who'd expect a romance during this black massacre? But Kabzaa has it. Who'd expect twists from the 1950s? Kabzaa got them. An over-elevated action becomes boring in the first quarter only, but then you have to endure it for the next three quarters. Poor you, you just need a mobile and good internet to have some distraction as a moment of relief.

I am still confused about whether or not we should talk about performances, as this is not a performance-driven film at all. You'll see a lot of acting in "UI" from Upendra, but Kabzaa is not the same tonic. He gets into the mass action zone, and a very hardcore one; if that pleases you, then you are lucky. But don't expect anything else. Kichcha has a small role, and he's mostly a narrator, so let's wait for his performance in the second part. Shriya Saran looks gorgeous in her traditional avatar and dances well on one song, and that's the best you get to see. Those pauses for dated dialogue could have killed me without any weapon. Murali Sharma, Nawab Khan, John Kokken, Tahaa Shah, Pramod Shetty, and others are there only to deliver the dialogue in a typical accent and show machoism.

Coming back to loud background music, I guess the Kannada audience has some good ears for them. I remember visiting an ear specialist right after KGF 2 FDFS, and Kabzaa almost had me in the same zone. I still don't know what "loud BGM" means. Does it indicate aggression, expression, or anything else? The cinematography captures good frames of big-screen grandeur, which is indeed big for Sandalwood. As mentioned above, dialogues are too cheesy to digest in 2023. R. Chandru's direction is extremely hardcore and is only and only focused on larger-than-life commercial filmmaking, and that's far from logical and intelligent cinema. Kabzaa makes you uncomfortable and leaves you restless to leave the auditorium, unless you enjoy such mindless masala flicks. Even commercial cinema is changing nowadays, so you better be aware of what's good and what's crap. Kabzaa isn't the former, for sure.

    RATING - 3/10*
  • This movie doesn't deserve 1/10 stars. Most annoying movie watched on big screen recent days.

If u want to spoil ur peace of mind then this movie is for you.

So u can watch movie wisely. If u wnt to don't spoil ur HAPPINESS of any day then don't go.

This movie has 0 impactful dialogue which goes over the head. U can't imagine this movie will test ur patience. U will try to sit back on seat untill shivanna comes on screen.

Totally I'm regretting why i went to this movie by travelling 50km from my native. I'll never forget the experience of this movie. So i suggesting if u r ready to face such movie then go for it Aall the best...
  • Wow, what an incredible feat R. Chandru has accomplished! I mean, it takes some serious skill to put together a blatant rip-off of Prashant Neel's three movies all at once. From the plot to the screenplay, it's a total hack job, and let's not forget about the stolen dialogue and visuals that make it look like a poor man's version of Neel's work(all three of his movies considered).

It's truly admirable how R. Chandru tried to showcase his "vision" for cinema, but I guess he forgot that he was just looking through someone else's lens from decades ago. Hats off to the people who managed to make this movie a reality, but let's face it, it's nothing more than below-average filth.

And let's talk about the inclusion of "Kichha" Sudeep and "Triple STAR" Shivrajkumar in the movie as cameo roles. I mean, why bother including their names to attract an audience when all you're delivering is copycat garbage?

Why put even promote "kichha" and "Shivanna" in posters when they are a cameo? Please dont spoile Kannada industry with such filth, just you got money When did "kichha" suddenly become "Baadshaa"? It's a mystery!

And you are spoilng "real star" Uppi's impression with "INDIAN real star".

    R. Chandru, it's time to face the music. Promoting your movie based on the popularity of other actors is a publicity stunt, and it only shows how incapable you are compared to them. I suggest you cut your losses and stop directing movies like this at a national level. It's only spoiling the image of the existing talent we already have.

I mean this is a clear rip off all along, if "agasthya" wear a 6 inch lion tattoo on his arm, our Uppi is given a 12inch cat like tattoo on his wide chest, and if Rocky smokes cigarettes.. it's only cigars for our hero in kabzaa. And I have no idea why Suddeep has a voice over, whatever he speaks is pain to listen in textbook Kannada ( worst background score and too loud throughout movie) the flow all around..I mean "Kichha" speaks only things that's already shown or know. Whats the point?

I mean R.chandru, this is all I could tell you, could point way more, but all I ask is please go back to drawing board and get to know how movies are made and when you have budget like this. (Ps- I suggest you watching some Korean movies and at what Budget they are made at)

In summary, well done, R. Chandru. You managed to create a work of art that's a complete copy of someone else's work. Bravo.
  • I am proud kannada who love and support all kannada movies. But this movie I need to talk because it not only destroying the reputation built by KGF, Kantara or Charlie but also no creativity at all. Even I know to copy paste something. KGF was successful because of the storyline and how he sequenced the scenes with thriller action and goosebumps and on the later sage the set design and color grading was done. What I believe is this fellow hired KGF starts and asked them how was set done and based on those inputs he did a worst move ever. And Upendra sir who wants to run our karnataka must have overseen this disaster, but supported it anyway. Please don't show movies to other states and destroy reputation build by others.

How many movies we know, that has a protagonist who digs his way to the top, through the land of greed, money and power? Hmm.., a lot isn't it!. Oh., ya it's a universal concept. But how many movies showed the journey of the protagonist through every single frame, through every single character? This is what you can expect from this trending blockbuster KABZAA.

The tale of a hero, told through every single character that impacts the next scene in the film. I guess, Director unofficially took a new story telling technique breaking the fourth wall of Filmmaking. Believable story, brilliant visuals, sharp editing and riveting climax sequence sets right beginning for the 2nd part.

Epilogue: It's time to stop comparing Indian movies to Hollywood. We got ourselves a bunch of exceptional storytellers who goes beyond the edge.

When I first watched this move, I found it hard to take it seriously. The dialogues seemed corny, voices seemed hammy and the story felt nonsensical.

I realised this movie's true potential only when I decided to watch it again. But the second time round it had to be in the original language because that's the director's vision which I wanted to know. And oh boy how different it was then. A completely different film if I may.

Talking about the film, the story is great, cinematography and direction, credit to R chandru, it is absolutely grand. BGM is the life of this film. Such hardcore BGM just elevates this film to a different level. But the main best thing about this movie is the hero. Upendra is an absolute hero. What a look, what great acting skills he possesses and an insane physique which allows him to carry out the action scenes with total ease. He fits the role of Upenrda perfectly and his some serious swagger. I loved his dialogue delivery. Credit to the dialogue writer and also Upendra who delivers them to perfection. The dialogues give you an insane feel and I can imagine watching This film in Kannada and cheering and hooting at the dialogues. Kannadigas must have surely had a blast. However the dialogues in Kannada said by Upendra gave me a feel that I cannot express in words.

Kudos to Kannada film industry for making this absolutely wonderful movie.
  • Kabzaa, which aims to be the next KGF from Kannada cinema and was also aggressively promoted along the same lines, is an ambitious attempt with very little promise. At best, it can be described as KGF's poor cousin that's all style but has no soul. Even though cut from the same cloth as KGF, Upendra's Kabzaa hardly makes any impact, let alone entertain. It's unarguably one of the lousiest attempts in the name of making pan-Indian cinema. Ravi Basrur, with his music and background score, holds Kabzaa together to a large extent. The rest of the performances are forgettable, to say the least. Kabzaa is a major misfire from an industry that should stop aping everything that worked in KGF's favour.
  • Only bgm in the movie. No story nothing 😒. Director told that he is inspired by kgf movie . But the whole movie is like mini kgf with bad VFX. No mass dialogues in the movie. Only fighting . Very disappointed about movie. My request for director R Chandru is please don't do part 2. U will b loss. Second thing is hero. Upendra is not suitable for that mass part. And no emotion nothing. Only shooting blood etc. And final climax is also Rolex copy. Movie is a creative thing. Director should think creatively not copying from others. He should learn this. Don't go for this movie. U will get headache. This is my first review. Very disappointed 😞

KGF is one such film that redefined heroism in Indian cinema. There is nothing wrong with getting inspired by such trendsetting movies, but the problem with Kabzaa is it almost looks like a replica of KGF. There must be some authentic factor to make the film appealing, but Kabzaa doesn't have one. Kabzaa never feels original in any aspect and it fails miserably to recreate the magic of KGF

The film has nearly half a dozen villain characters but not even one among them manages to impress. The film lacks any emotions, and hence we don't feel the pain of the characters. There is no redeemable quality about Kabzaa except the 'surprise' in the climax, which gives a lead to the sequel.

It's about time that Kannada cinema steps out of its KGF hangover. Perhaps, Kabzaa is the exact antidote it needs.
  • Copying a successful visual & narrative technique isn't going to be enough when the story chosen to be narrated is simply bland. The non-linear narrative takes us through 1945 to 1970s. Starting from Arkeshwara's childhood struggling days to the death of a loved one leading him onto the path of crime for revenge. We are also told he is a trained pilot and is in love with a princess, before the turn of events. How does Arka realize he is not just weapon for someone else to yield and build him empire by taking on the battalion of baddies forms the story.

In a gist, the director R. Chandru tries to pack in way too much that he can handle in this first part. Right from the monotonous gangster story stemming out of his need for revenge to even inserting a bland love story facing opposition from her royal father. The problem is how outdated this story is and how ineffective the quick edits were. Without nitpicking much comparing with KGF, I would rather highlight how none of the characters were not properly etched. Introducing a dozen villains was another blunder as none of them were given an opportunity to leave any mark or stand tall as a credible antagonist.

The writing is uneven throughout irrespective of the editing style. Upendra's portrayal of Arkeshwara suddenly changes entirely in the last 20mins where he is shown mouthing random punch dialogues or even dancing for an item number which was completely out of character considering how his character was approached up until then. The chemistry is non-existent making the love story between Upendra and Shriya Saran a tedious watch.

The climax scene announces the sequel with an entry of another major character. Setting aside the hype around it, one cannot stop feeling that the scene as a whole has one purpose i.e. To announce the sequel but has no other reason to be part of this movie or the scenes before. If the director does feel the major chunk of the story was saved for the sequel and this was one giant trailer for it, then it was a very bad attempt.

I alway see upendra in next level, he is a creater, he has given us greatest contents, sudeep too in a different level. Both of these actors are not just actors they are also directors. I don't know what made them sign this movie. There is no originality in anything. There is no uniqueness, there is no sense. It is heavily inspired from another movie. Be it color palette, production design, costumes, vehicles, crew selection, concept, music, arc, instruments, weapons, shot compositions, screen play formula, narration, editing, marketing, some one tell me what did director do here other than co ordination. Good luck to each and everyone of Kabza team.

KABZAA is a win for the whole Kannada film industry. Every single frame oozes a pan-Indian appeal. So no matter what language you watch it in, you'll get the feel of a straight film. R Chandru's direction is stunning. Upendra is definitely the new pan-Indian star. His performance is beyond judging.

Since it's a period action film, KABZAA delivers much more than what the trailers showed. It has action, adventure, drama and some suspense that will keep you glued till the end. It's neither funny nor too dark, and hence a properly balanced film. The dialogues are so crisp that I was literally smiling with excitement.

KABZAAis not just for the Kannada-speaking people but for anyone who likes to watch action movies with a wholehearted execution. Once again, Hindi viewers, please do not regret later on when it'll be playing on TV and internet. Just go for it. As for me, I will now watch more of Upenrda and R Chandru'sfilmography. I know I will not be the only one waiting for the second chapter of this epic.
