  • This show is definitely something different. It's like this; either you love it or you hate it. I haven't spoken to many people who just like it or think it's okay.

As for my friends and I, we think it's hilarious and unique. The animation style is like is nothing short of Seuss-esquire. If you watch a few episodes of the show, you'll see that there are no boundaries when it comes to character design. Chowder himself is some sort of little cat, Truffles is a little old lady, and I just can't tell what the heck Schnitzel is. Some characters are humanoid, some are animals, and sometimes even the food speaks! As for the voice acting, the kids are the highlight of the show. Nicky Jones (Chowder) is unbelievably talented for his age. I've never heard a child actor with as much individuality before! Sure, the gags can be a little crass, but it's a kid's show, a cartoon. Where else can you fit in a decent fart joke (or a pet fart) and get away with it? While some parts of the storyline seems a bit rushed at times, the overall outcome is absolutely worth watching.
  • Honestly this series comes from a creator who's done Grim and Spongebob. So it seems like a lot of the material is recycled. But this show reminds me of the first season of Spongebob greatly underrated. The writing seems excellent but I think they need better directors. The jokes look good but you get the feeling it could of been way funnier. Chowder himself is a funny and adorable character who is greatly voice acted but the real character who shine are Mung and Schnitzel. Seriously the voice acting is great in this show how you can make as great of character as Schnitzel(who only says Rada) is ridiculous. Mung is breath of fresh air in TV cartoons. While new cartoons are opting for a more edgy (Mr. Krabs, Kanuckles) type mentor character. Mung does a really good job of standing out he's witty, funny, and loud mouthed. Anyway it's beautifully animated has excellent potential and I hope itdoesn't get canceled before its time.
  • I have no problem with the review done on Chowder, but I question the accuracy of whoever put the data together. I am wondering why some of the voice actors get credit for over 60 episodes? Season 1 and 2 had 20 episodes, I have looked everywhere I could find information on this series, and could not find any mention of there being 60 or more episodes. Season 3 had 9, and there were 3 commercials done, adding up to 52. Are there some episodes unaccounted for and/or unaired? I love Chowder, and wish it was still on air, with new episodes... Is there some compelling reason it left us so quickly? Genius work! Mung Daal is my favorite character btw.
  • I am a 36 year old mom who watches a lot of cartoons and kid shows (My 9 year old thinks herself Lord And Master Of The Remote). Luckily I like cartoons anyway but nothing could have prepared me for the head-over-heels way I have fallen in love with CHOWDER! Since this is a new show there isn't much I can tell you: The characters are all really weird looking (What IS Chowder anyway? A cat??? A bunny?????) and one character Schnitzel only speaks using one word: "Radda" (I don't know why this joke never worked for me with CoCo on FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS but every time Schintzel says "Radda Radda Radda!" I just fall out of my chair laughing.(For me Schnitzel is the break-through "star" of the show) Most of the story lines so far revolve around food, as Chowder is sort of an apprentice chef. And the jokes are all over the map from goofy to fart jokes to stuff I think is aimed more at the grown up audience. It feels like someone put some stuff from those old BULLWINKLE cartoons, a splash of SPONGEBOB and a tiny bit of FUTURAMA into a blender. This show has that certain type of humor that works for both kids AND grownups.

The other day my daughter was at a friend's house and I was watching CHOWDER and my husband came in and asked me why I was watching cartoons. I made him watch it and I felt totally embarrassed as I proceeded to laugh so hard that I actually cried! He didn't feel as strongly as I did about it, but he DID agree it was a "pretty good show".

I'm glad to come on here and see that I am not the only person older than 12 who enjoys this hilarious, bright, witty new show!

    On A Scale Of 1 - 10 I give CHOWDER 9 Raddas!

-Really creative with naming things after foods. -Iconic style and animation. -Stories were usually very interesting and world building was very enjoyable.

-Some gross out humor was just too much. -Some characters kinda lose their personalities in some episodes to fit the story.
  • With shows such as Ed,Edd,& Eddy and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy becoming irrelevant on Cartoon Network, I, at the time, thought this show would be the confirmation of the death of an era. An era that saw shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog, the first 2 shows that I mentioned, and the classics Dexter's Lab and Johhny Bravo. I only just listened to the first few episodes, and it wasn't until I sat down to watch it that I realized my assumption was wrong. This show is downright hilarious. The characters are just as hilarious with Chowder being a mix of a bear, cat, and Rabbit, and Snitzel being a rock monster that only speaks "Radda,Radda." There is also the classic line "I almost had something to live for." All in all this cartoon just has style. And sadly Cartoon Network is not capitalizing on this by adding garbage shows like George of The Jungle and Johnny Test.
  • It is an entertaining cartoon about cooking. It has odd and eccentric characters.
  • About a year ago Chowder started playing on Cartoon Network and I have been a fan since day one! This show is about Chowder, a cat, bear bunny thing that is an apprentice of Mung Daal, a very old blue man. Mung is the greatest cook in the world and makes funny dishes such as Beveled eggs and Crabige cobbler. All of the food names are puns. Ex:Blutter (butter)I am 16 and not a lot of people I know watch it because they say cartoons are for kids. I really don't care because I am enjoying Chowder too much. Most of the T.V I watch are cartoons. But if you like The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack I can guarantee that you will like Chowder twice as much. This show is great for kids and also for adults. I watch it with my 6 year old sister and my 35 year old father and we all laugh until it hurts! The reason most older people watch this show is because it has a lot of adult humor but is still very appropriate for all ages. You are making a very big mistake if you are saying, "I don't watch cartoons" Because you are missing out on one of the funniest shows on T.V. Give it a chance.
  • This show isn't the best CN has ever had to offer- far from it. But it's certainly unique, and even charming. The humor's not anything special, but it's not bad, either. There are a few really memorable jokes (especially the fourth wall breaks) here and there. It's all absurd, but it's smart. You can tell that thought, and a hell of a lot of creativity, went into this show. It's not really something I'd go out of my way to see, but it's light, and pleasant enough to sit through. Definitely a good series to introduce your kids to as an alternative to all the generic kiddie comedies out there.
  • Ah Chowder. Pretty nostalgic for me as a kid. I used to love this show. But looking back at it, It's not as great as I thought it was. Chowder is about a kid named Chowder (Nicky Jones), a chef apprentice to Mung Dall (Dwight Shlutz). By the way, what the hell is a Mung? Anyway, Mung owns a catering business with his wife Truffles (Tara Strong) and Shnitzel (John Di Maggio). Who is arguably the most memorable character in the show because he only says one word, Radda. By the way, they have crazy adventures too. ORIGINALITY!! So yeah, mediocre story here. Not much here. The animation isn't that great either. Sure, it's better than other crappy shows like Problem Solverz, but still only okay at best. And they occasionally do random kinds of animation as well. CGI, claymation, etc. And while they are pretty good, it doesn't really work well considering the jokes are the average, "act like a complete moron" kind of humor. Which is another fatal flaw. Chowder, our main protagonist, IS VERY ANNOYING. Mainly because of how stupid he acts. And his voice doesn't help at all. Mung is pretty mediocre. You don't really get to know him too much. So he's pretty ignorable. Truffles can get annoying, but I found her voice pretty funny for some odd reason. I already explained Shnizel. And the only other character left is Gazpacho. He's the comedy relief. because of how nervous he always is. But he's not really that funny. So so far, it sounds like I don't like the show. But there are good qualities to it. Like the humor can sometimes be funny, and the characters, despite being okay, are very memorable. And some episodes can have a decent message. Other than that, it's very flawed, but not a bad show.

    Story: 5/10 Animation: 6/10 Characters: 6/10 Overall: 5/10/Mediocre/D+
  • I remember missing this show when the first episode came on. I thought "No big deal, It's probably not that good." Don't make that assumption! I got a call from my friend telling me that it was pretty good, so I watched it. It is now one of the only things I watch on television, and I never grow tired on the jokes and over-all absurdities of the show. I also am a big fan of the voices, including the kids, and, of course, Dana Snyder of Aqua teen and Venture Brothers and John Dimaggio of Futurama and Gears of war! All I can say is, I'm a fifteen year old (I act older) who watches many adult shows, and this beats them all out! Watch it. You'll love it if you know what your getting into. The only thing I would have done differently is more references, and I'd probably screw it up or make it no longer for kids! ~Ciao~ Andrew V.
  • Chowder is a funny show, with humor at every turn, but does it have too much humor??? Cartoon Network has have such humor shows before, most known being Ed Edd N Eddy, and Chowder and its sibling show Flapjack are following in its footsteps Chowder is sort of creepy and disturbing at times, and lacks the exact humor that got you watching Ed Edd N Eddy, but its dangerous humor levels is less severe than Flapjack So while it won't be the next Ben 10 or Ed Edd N Eddy or Lazlo, Chowder is helping CN from falling into the toon garbage pile. The positive characters would be Chowder, Snitzel and Truffles, but Mung Daal, Endive and Chesnut weaken its humor with creepyness. But Gazpacho is somewhere in between
  • Warning: Spoilers
Cartoon Network has had some good shows for a really long time like Regular Show, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Scooby Doo, Ben 10, Teen Titans, The Marvelous miss adventures of flapjack, adventure time etc. But Chowder is not one of them.

In fact in my opinion Chowder is the worst cartoon network show alongside The Problem Solverz, MAD, the annoying orange, Teen Titans Go, Clearance (which it influenced), secret mountain fort awesome, uncle grandpa, Johnny Test and super noobs.

The characters are annoying. The main character Chowder is nothing but a constant eater, even his voice makes me want to cut is tongue out so he couldn't talk anymore.

Even, the characters are worse. Mung keeps yelling, snitzel keeps on saying "Radah Radah" and truffles that old fairy looking granny is annoying to the point where I can't believe she was voiced by Tara Strong.

Heck my friends at my both schools didn't like this show, even my mom, dad and my sister hatted this show. In fact, everytime it was on TV, my dad told me to turn it off or said there is nothing on to watch. I used to argue the case but I am thankful i listened.

It was even annoying that one of my classmates who kept on getting told off in my fifth grade was on the Cartoon Network website everyday and constantly played clips of this show on repeat and getting bad influenced by it.

The animation is ugly, the character designs are okay, but stupid.

The voice acting is fine but it's not there fault they had to work on this show. In fact I am supprised to see people like Dee Bradley Baker, Yuri Lowanthal, Corey Burton etc. take part in this crap.

The only episode which was good was when all the voice actors show themself on screen and cleaned cars to get the budget of the animation back. I admit this got me interested in voice actors in cartoons, anime, video games and films.

But my opinion still stands Chowder was a bad cartoon on cartoon network, if you enjoyed this show I am glad you have something to enjoy which i don't, and I am glad it got cancelled. So, goodbye, and good riddance to a horrid show. peace

Marzipan: now doesn't that actually sound like a place, not a food? Marzipan is where Chowder lives and where he is learning (however ineptly) to become a cook. It is a land where a kid can have a caged pet fart-cloud, where what we know as "the musical fruit" can actually sing (and sing so well that a pot of 'em can get the city-folk dancing in the streets)and "cinnamini" (ipo cinnamon) is a spice that can shrink a person so that a toadstool seems as big as a house. Playing on puns (to legally be a cook, one needs a "certiFRYcate"), general silliness (one character speaks using only the word "rawda", but everyone in Marzipan knows what he's saying) as well as many other classic cartoon bits of funniness, this cartoon is a hoot. Chowder's innocence, obliviousness to his lack of cooking talent (heck, his lack of being plain old being brighter than a doorknob!), combined with the wackiness of the land he lives in - the food talks, a humanoid that is some kind of hemi-semi-demi-god has been seen to toss a lightning bolt or two from a cloud down towards Marzipan, Mount Foundue is a volcano with filled with hot melted cheese - makes for hilariousness: you have to see this for yourself. It is good old fashioned cartoon silliness without any apparent up-front merchandise tie-in.

I loved Chowder as a kid, it was all I wanted to talk about, I thought it was really funny even if I didn't understand like anything that was going on Decided to rewatch it last year and what did I think? It was pretty funny I guess.

While it didn't make me laugh as much as it used to, I did find a lot of it pretty funny and charming. The episode where they run put of money to pay for the animation is absolutely iconic and some of the other 4th wall jokes were good too.

My biggest gripe is that I found Chowder to be quite annoying at times, I've not always been a big fan of the "character being stupid= FUNNYYYY!!!" trope, but I don't absolutely hate him, Panini was also quite creepy and it's not very funny when she stalks/harasses Chowder and there a lot of scenes that made me physically cringe.

But asides from all that it's good, some really well animated scenes and I really like some of the characters

    Overall solid show.

This show.... IS................So funny. I am a 17 year old man and yet i watched this show when there was nothing else on. I became hooked. Chowder is so funny as is Mung. A part in the show is so funny "This ones is a dozy" Mung says "I love dozes" Chowder. "Okay.." Chowder laughs. "Okay then..." Chowder laughs again. "Okay, what is the difference" Chowder laughs. "What is the difference between Chopped Beef and Pea Soup?" "Okay, well... Everybody can chop beef but... no one can pee soup! He... He..." And chowder's like "You lied that wasn't a dozy." That part is so hilarious. I even recorded it for future laughs.I record all the shows. Every single new episode that is on every Fri. This may seem childish, but is the perfect place to put in a hilarious Fart Joke. I even got a joke of my own that I made up with the help of Chowder. Okay, what is the difference between ground beef and Peanuts. Okay Every body can ground beef but...(dramatic pause) No one can pee nuts! I recommend this for 7 and older, if younger may send a bad example in their vocabulary....

I loooved chowder...it came a little after the spongebobs rugrats...so i watched it when i was a little older...

but it was good...it really was...it was original...it was fresh...at least to me...in that moment in time...

a chef's assistant...pretty great idea...the writers deserve some awards definitely...
  • I like a lot of Cartoon Network cartoons, and when I heard of Chowder, I was somewhat skeptical. It looked good, but I had heard it was rubbish. Actually, Chowder isn't rubbish at all. It is the sort of show you love or hate, but I love it. It is different I agree, but what's wrong with being different? Nothing.

The animation is colourful and vibrant, and while the character designs may be unusual at first I kept reminding myself it's all part of being different. The music is also great, and the writing is witty and hilarious. The story lines are good as well, as are the characters. Again, they are not for everyone but like the show they are the sort of characters you love or hate. Personally, while they can have their corny and annoying moments I find them endearing. And the voice work is fine.

All in all, different and fun to watch. 9/10 Bethany Cox

    Warning: Spoilers
It's ugly. That's all I can say. I tried watching one episode and I couldn't even make it through the whole thing it was so ugly.

The show is about an annoying hideous fat cat/gremlin with a horrible voice, who lives in a weirdo restaurant run by a floating old lady with a huge mushroom coming out of her head. It's created by the same people who made "Spongebob Squarepants" and "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" (both shows I find stupid and annoying.) But if you liked the two shows previously mentioned, then I guarantee you will be disappointed with this one.

Everything about it is ugly... the animation, the characters, the voices for the characters... It's all ugly. I mean, after seeing Chowder's bulging belly and hearing him burp and fart, I can honestly say, humor has hit rock bottom.

Please, let your kids watch something better. This will ruin them forever. I honestly don't know what drugs the poor saps who made this were on when they thought this was a good idea, but I don't think I want to know. It's an entirely new drug trip all on its own. I'd even recommend the horrible "Out of Jimmy's Head" over this pile of crap.

    1/10

I grew up watching this show as a kid and I have to say it brings back good memories! It's a shame this show ended so early though at least it went out with a bang. The main character is the title character who is aspiring to be a chef. Chowder's likable and goofy to watch whether he succeeds or not. Guiding him in his quest to be a chef is his mentor Mung Daal who is sometimes uptight yet caring and understanding. Chowder also has to deal with Mung's cranky wife Truffles and Mung's irritable assistant Schnitzel.

What makes the show great are the original stories, voice acting, wordplay, funny gags and fourth wall breaking at times. I should also mention the supporting characters too. Ms. Endive and her apprentice Panini who has a crush on Chowder, (much to his dismay) and Gorgonzola who is also great due to his pessimism and strong dislike of Chowder despite the latter's opposite feelings. My favorite episode is The Apprentice Games because of the gags as well as how well the characters work off each other from Mung and Endive's rivalry to Panini and Ceviche's friendship. Bottom line, I can't say enough as to how great this show is. I highly recommend it.

Chowder is the worst cartoon in the world I can't stand it when people said chowder is good you guys this thing is a random fused animal and it's purple and He is so stupid do you want to know why I hate chowder well because one day I ask to my mom what movie I'm going to watch and then my mom said what it is and I said chowder and then my mom said chowder it's a bay cartoon and you're are old now still now and I still hate chowder and I afraid to ask parent about chowder the lastedr time I ask my parents about chowder my dad said chowder is a bay cartoon avartar 2 is better and then I hate chowder more and more I think I will hate it for the rest of my life.
  • I am a junior in high school, and I have been raised on cartoons. I was raised with great shows such as Ed Edd n Eddy, Rocko's Modern Life, Dexter's Laboratory, Courage, and Johnny Bravo. However, I have come to find that today's cartoons are awful. I will sometimes check out Cartoon Network to see what is playing, and I ended up with horrible dribble such as George of the Jungle, Camp Lazlo, Ben 10, Flapjack, and Johnny Test. However, my faith was resurrected when I happened to come across an interesting new show called Chowder...

Let me just say that Chowder is AWESOME! I won't tell you much about it so you can see for yourself, but let me tell you that this is a completely original and hilarious cartoon. I laugh a lot whenever I watch it. The show has an almost psychedelic element to it, which makes it fun to watch. The show has some great characters, interesting plot lines, great voices, and unique animation. I love everything about it. The story revolves around food (the main character is a chef's apprentice.) Everyone on the show has some kind of food for a name, which include Chowder, Mung-Daal, Shnitzel, Truffles, Penneni, Endive, Gorgonzola, Gespatcho, Chestnut, and Reuben. The humor is usually original and is sometimes completely twisted. Half the time I forget that the show was made for kids, because the humor can be truly appreciated by adults. It's just a great show overall.

If you feel that good 'ol cartoons are dead, this show is definitely worth a look. Who knows, maybe you'll change your mind about cartoons...
  • I must say, I was a great fan of some CN shows like Dexter's Laboratory, Foster's Home, Adam Lion, JOhnny Bravo, Edd, Ed and Eddy, and all the classics, but my 8 year old daughter (7 then) liked Chowder most of all. So I gave it a chance. And it didn't disappoint me. What a funny greatly done artistic show! :) And what a great surprise: Chowder (voice) is really a kid, he almost looks like his character, he's adorable. That's a big plus, and all the actors are great. Amazing although sometimes a but tough humor, but still amazing. And there are already some cult lines in the show, and some incredible artistic shoots. 10* from me!
  • Hey Guys it's me RegularShow1 here again and today going to review "Chowder" a show used to be on Cartoon Network and now airs on Boomerang as of June 2, 2014. Anyway this Show was about a Cat-Bear-Rabbit thing Named Chowder who loves to eat and cook with his Cooking Master Mung Daal. You might think this show is weird at first but its very unique like the characters are named after different kids of food. My Favorite episode is "Chowder's Girl Friend" which was in season 1. "Chowder" was Created By C. H. Greenblatt who is who also the creator of the Nickelodeon "Harvey Beaks" which is an awesome show btw . Anyway this was really good show and I'm giving 10 out 10 stars. Anyway I'm going also do a review on "Harvey Beaks" maybe tomorrow or Saturday. Anyway this RegularShow1 signing off. See you.
  • This is sick! Seriously, is sick. I even can't watch this after lunch. It's always showing someone's crap. They are ugly. This is not a adult and this s not a children's cartoon. It's sick. I cannot understand how someone will like that. This is amazing. This show is a crap. This is not worse than Adventure Time, but it's the same. Adventure Time is adult. This is NOT! This is a crappy children's cartoon. I cannot understand. Doesn't make any sense. He's a purple stupid kid. His voice's like a sick dog. This show attempt to be funny but is not. It's not any funny! If you like that, why? This is worse than Flappy Jack. There's no jokes.
