  • This is a really good show on the nazi-hunters of the time.

Yes, it might contain unrealistic scenes, but which action series doesn't? Yes, Blanca Suarez might have limited facial expression in this show, but it is really explained in the show why this is a realistic interpretation rather than "bad acting".

So, the show is a nazi-hunting group in Spain in the 60s, only a rough dozen years after the end of the war. In a country with fascist leanings (not being the democracy it is today). The group hunts for the butcher at Mauthausen to put him on trial at an international tribunal.

It is a gripping tale that depicts, in scenes of the past, some of the atrocities performed at the nazi death camps. It is a decent thriller.

It's well worth your time getting involved in.
  • Pretty good acting, good story, great dialogue, very believable props and scenery. But everybody seems to have turned on the 'infinite ammo' cheat, and it ruins everything. Most pistols have a 7-10 round capacity, but here everyone shoots twice that or more, and you just keep waiting for them to reload. It makes it very unrealistic.

Some of the reviews pointed out some valid points. However, as far as Bianca is concerned you should consider that her character had, as a young child in the camp, seen her father killed, her brother had been killed and she had been traumatized by life in a concentration camp. She had learned to turn her emotions off to develop a poker face to hide her inner thoughts and feelings. If you looked into her eyes you could see the blind determination to survive and seek revenge at all costs, in other words she had tunnel vision with one purpose in her mind at all times. I thought the movie did a good job in slowly delving into the characters lives as it related to their personal experiences with nazis and peeled off the layers that had brought them to where they were. Also keep in mind that you have to look beyond North American films and keep in mind the nationality of the movie. I watch a lot of foreign films and you have to look out of your culture.

    Goof: (Around 20:00 playtime)

When Isabelle used her handgun, it fired 12 rounds. While she was interrogated, she was told that her gun has a capacity of 8 rounds.
  • This actually started out very good. And that is the only reason I did not rate this lower. The first episode draws you in. But as the show progresses it becomes very silly and almost somewhat cartoonish. Almost as if they changed writers. Just very odd. And they have one scene where there are dozens and dozens of bullets flying, an explosion when boats collide, but no one gets killed. Are you kidding?! Now, add to that the the horrible music used in the background scenes and that makes it even worse. Now, I am not talking about the songs of that time period, but some the background music used in scenes throughout the movie. It will drive you crazy. You may be best to stop at Episode 2, then jump directly to episode 6. Probably the best way to watch this DUD! If they have a sequel, good luck! Not worth your time.
  • Best spy series as of today, good acting, good storyline. Please ignore bad reviews on this one as it worth a watch. I binge watched this in two days, there is a good amount of action in it. It's a combination of drama/history/action. This series will not disappoint. Hoping for a season 2.

I Love this topic, the historical era and background, and I wanted to love how this series, because if done properly, could've added more conversation to post-war Nazi crimes, escapes, the Nazi hunters, themselves, the psychology of those being hunted and those doing the hunting, as well as the corruption of those countries who hid these despicable pieces of garbage, but instead it was a long slosh of bad writing, bad editing, and sometimes long periods of boredom. It had a little knock-off Tarantino and a little knock-off Guy Ritchie to the music, the intro headers and even color and filmography, but it never found its own voice or vibe.

The shooting was on par with Storm Troopers all series, bullets flying everywhere with explosions, which inexplicably graze no one. Scenes were edited/cut in which people were present in one, only to disappear in the next (All those soldiers at the hospital didn't die in that blast, yet here our heroes were, alone upstairs with Otto for a loooong stretch of time, or the one scene when our protagonist is cut free by some random guy, then that random guy just disappeared? He peaced out in less than 1 minute?) And, has there ever been worse spies than these jokers who hide in broad daylight for anyone to see, or more stupidly written villains who don't see that they're being watched in broad daylight?

The more I think about this show, the angrier I get. It had a chance to be so cool, so hip, so bad ass, but it ended up being a farce. This was such a far cry from well-produced, tightly acted and seriously written shows, that it became comical by episode 6. To boot: the cliffhanger stunk. I don't need another season of hunting these same guys that just goes in circles because our group of Nazi hunters are incompetent. At this point, step aside and let Mossad do its thing. Or hell, even Pacino's group were better than these goobers.
  • They turned what could have been a powerful story of serving justice into a ridiculous, unserious and amateur series of car chases, shootouts and absurd situations. A terrible waste and injustice to the subject matter.

I have a mix feeling about it. A lot of scenes seemed too amateur... like they survived hitting the ship! But the story is OK, entertains Could have been better made. One thing I didn't know is those nazis lived with no problem in Spain, as if nothing has happened! That is so strange!!!World War II, holocaust stories have been told many times and so many movies/series have been made about it. I wish there were other Hollywood made movies/series from other sides of the WWar II like the Asian side of the story or crimes of Stalin or other dictators during those times. Even the American wrong doings such as atomic bomb....- WW2 by far has been told and thought more than World War I....
  • Let me start by saying that I enjoyed the theme and I did manage to get to the end. I won't dwell on the number of bullets a Schmeisser doesn't have but it was one of the many incongruences that spoiled an otherwise, potentially good series. What really spoilt it for me was the terrible music which accompanied all six episodes, saved by a brief incursion into the world of Zorba the Greek. Not only was it an inappropriate choice but WAY TOO LOUD. Apart from the terrible music, the plot wasn't that bad but a little pathetic by Hollywood standards. Anyway, it would be nice to see a remake of this movie with better acting, good filming and editing and someone who knows what they're doing in the sound department.

I saw this series yesterday (up to episode 5) The premise is fantastic. Nazi hunters in 1962 Madrid. Victims of concentration camps bringing mass murderers to justice (or kill them). This is going to be good !!!

    But what a huge disappointment.

    Pros.

    1. Cinematic it looks grand (but see cons)

    2. The guy playing the nazi Otto Bachmann is very good. By far the best actor. Especially the horse scene. The young kid is also doing a good job in the flashbacks. And the ex priest is not too bad either.

    3. The very short scene with the diary (the drawings) of Dachau were impressive also. The only time I felt something about the horror.

    Cons.

    1. The actress looks gorgeous but she simply can not act. She only has one single facial expression. A startled face frozen in time.

    2. Music is totally out of sink with the time. Americana in Spain (Rolling Stones, House of the Rising Sun, funky music from American 70s movies) And it is constant. The rock/punk song at the the start of every episode is incredibly annoying and totally out of place. Maybe the director thought he was Tarantino.

    3. You never get the feeling you are in 1962 Madrid. They throw in a few (well made) cars, that's it. No poverty, no broken down cars, no donkeys, no period clothing, no authentic Spanish people, no Madrid of 1962. Nothing.

    4. Cinematic it looks good but also very, very , very slick. These people have been in Mauthausen, Dachau and Auschwitz ? Really ?

It has the feel of a glossy money heist movie. All looks, zero substance.

    5. Although the series on the whole is not woke a few woke elements crept in; the black servant in Mauthausen steadying the hand of our young protagonist (really?) the young guy who turns out to be gay (out of the blue. It's just throw in and that's it) and the all powerful young women scene in the beginning who is surprised in the dark but can beat four (three cars and one motor) chasing professionals with ease.

    6. The typical young brass (de La Casa de Papel, I won't listen "Denver"- like) young guy is totally out of place. It seems that every single Spanish series these days must have one "Denver" in it's cast. It seemed forced.

This should have been fantastic. A period drama/thriller of a mysterious group hunting down the vilest of nazi's in atmospheric Madrid (filled with Spanish nazi sympathizers in the early sixties during the Franco regime) Hunted by haunted, complex, partly broken survivors of the concentration camps and extermination centers. Dark, gritty, full of suspense and emotion.

But they served us this glossy emptiness.

Jaguar: Spain, 1962, a lone wolf holocaust survivor intent on killing the ex-SS officer who murdered her father is persuaded to play the longer game by a team of nazi hunters. Their target is a more senior nazi, Dr Aribert Heimt a real life character who was known as the Butcher of Mauthausen. This is a fictional series but it is inspired by the reality hat 40,000 nazis settled in Spain after WW2, protected by the Francoist regime, most of hem didn't even change their surnames. There are flashbacks to what happened in the camps during the war, how the team got together. Very much an action series but one tempered by the reality the necessity of surveillance and security. Also the team each have their personal demons that they have to deal with. Not just survivors guilt but also some had to do in order to live through the Holocaust. Some great shootouts and hand to hand fighting, even dark humour. Created by Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira. On netflix 8/10.
  • This series couldn't make up its mind what it was. All the cast walking/shooting together like the team in Oceans 11, the graphics were straight out of Batman, it was set in the 1960s but the music was just a thumping beat of the noughties - which was a distraction and far too loud.

Blanca Suarez has only one expression - the same she used in the Cable Girls, yet she appears to be a favourite casting of Ramon Campos who was involved in both productions - Bambu Productions, but her acting skills are questionable. Little wonder Adrian Lastra who played the Deaf Man had limited dialogue, after his resounding success as Pedro in the global success of 'Velvet' (another Bambu Production), he probably thought the script was ridiculous at best.

I wouldn't call it the best spy series by any stretch of the imagination, and as the last episodes was mainly flashbacks, I fast forwarded much of it.

How on earth did Did the two Germans get off that burning boat and how did the goodies survive? Some bad acting too on her part.

This could have been a good series because some of the scenes and actors are very effective in an important story. But the female lead cannot act, and the writing falls completely apart. It ends in a mess.

It is a series idgits! So many just watch a show or two and review it... that's just ridiculous! You have to watch the entire season, not just a couple shows. It gets better every show and I read some info about what they plan to do next season if renewed and it's going to be a great series that lasts 3-4 yrs. The best is yet to come!! Seriously what's better than watching a bunch of Nazi's get what they deserve. And the hint is what makes it so satisfying!

Spanish production become incredible mediocre and predictable lately, nothing original and full of a outstanding bad acting.

In this particular case, again, a very poor plot, bad acting and another copy, this time a wannabe Tarantino style, coping even the music.
  • Jaguar is a very entertaining show will lots of Action & Intense Moments! The show has a great cast including characters that will make you wanna become part of the Jaguar family. Yes this series is really worth watching and I can see it lasting for 5 seasons!

I watched this because I am running out of things to watch. Thank heavens it was only 6 episodes, any more and I would have given up sooner. Disappointed that they left it for another series, I won't be watching that!

Some terrible acting in particular Blanca Suarez, she is very wooden in her performance with movement, speech and delivery, she has the same blank look that she also used in Cable Girls, unable to express any emotions.

Episide 5 at the hospital, after the explosion how did they spend all that time getting to Bachmann without the rest of the army showing up from the floor belowtk? Everyone and I mean everyone couldn't kill or injure anyone standing within yards of them, all rather silly really.

How did the rest of the team manage to escape all the soldiers again at the hospital, oh I forgot they couldn't shoot!.

Why did they not kill Bachmann when they had the opportunity?

The music score was dreadful, so bad I had to turn the sound off by episode 5, I was using the subtitles anyway and even they went off the rails by the last episode!

Dreadful script, which is sad when the true story deserved to be told in a more plausible way.
  • Warning: Spoilers
First episode was promising. It's seemed like they were going for a James Bond energy but it became so far fetched that I turned it off after episode 4.
  • Here we go again with a motley crew of Nazi hunters and the compulsory, strong and fierce female lead. Shame that the acting and editing is so cartoonish, because the idea to expose the Fascist Spanish government of the 60s and its protection of Nazis is a good one.

Unfortunately the said female lead acts like the misplaced model she must be. Asked to step off the catwalk and pretend to be cool-hearted killer she's totally out of her depth. Totally, hopelessly unconvincing.

Easily can get close to 7 IMDB ratings but i not sure why ratings still hovering around 5.
  • Painful to watch and surely everyone associated with this production feels embarrased. Writing extremely amateurish, shallow, and disappointing. Subject matter deserved better.
  • Very good show, and a great act by Blanca Suarez. A really difficult role, a Holocaist survivor, who has no feelings, no alive soul anymore. Only the revenge purpose keeps her alive. Of course, a lot of bad reviews - she doesn't say the sacramental hollywood words "do you need to talk to somebody", she doesn't offer moral directions... Well, is not an american heroe, but saying that Blanca xannot act...

Just a good bunch of staff wasted in shootings and a lame plot that lacks of everything to make it reliable and trustworthy.
