Far be it from me to drag down what might be a perfect show for little kids. However I was expecting at least the personalities of characters from the original movie to be in place:
Alex The Lion: friendly and constantly suppresses his predator instincts Gloria The Hippo: Opinionated and empowered Melman The Giraffe: Hypochondriac extreme, sick all the time Marty The Zeba: Carefee and often careless, clumsy, friends with Alex
Add to this a no show of popular characters that were in the movie:
King Julien The Lemur: Smug and vain ruler, loves to move it move it Mort: King Julien's lackey, completely ingratiating, quite brave actually
Top Secret Penguins: Kowalski,Skipper, Private, and Rico.
Now I understand the main characters in here are supposed to be younger, possibly pre-teen, but this particular show could've used ANY character or theme at all as the ones presented in here act pretty well all the same as any other kid's show. Vanilla and boring with no real distinctive traits of any kind and plenty of songs to teach little children the basics of life. Wow.
It's a waste to call this "Madgascar" as that particular movie had some interesting personalities and conflicts between the main characters that was both delightful and interesting to observe - something not at all even remotely appearing in this series.

This show is really cute and the fab 4 are still getting into mischief. It's great for toddlers/little kids - songs, colors, humor - it's all around a great show. My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves it!
I loved all the Madagascar movies and their holiday specials. But I never pictured the Penguins or King Julian get their own show. They were great in the movies when they're interacting with Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria but the idea of them having their own show was a little puzzling to me. The Penguins' show and movie was OK but I didn't feel the same comedy magic they had from the Madagascar movies. Definitely Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria deserve their own show because they are the heart of the franchise and the idea of them being toddlers is a good idea because I want to see how their friendship started before the movies and the show is very cute and funny. The child actor who plays Marty sounds just like Chris Rock but as a kid. They made some great casting choices. It's a fun show for Madagascar fans but the only thing I don't like is sometimes it'll have musical numbers. But it's still a great show.
The worst show ever in history of 2020 i have ever heard of, this show ruined Madagascar, All Hail King Julien and The Penguins Of Madagascar which are way better than this show and this show looks a lot like Thomas And Friends All Engines Go and The PowerPuff Girls (2016).
I have a very active 5 year old and very few cartoon animations catch her attention. However, this one truly does! We have to watch episodes over and over and over and.....
Thanks for great character voices, content, great catchy songs and animation.
