A coming-of-age story about a teenage girl in 1960s suburban London, and how her life changes with the arrival of a playboy nearly twice her age.
This film marks the first time in his 15-year career that Peter Sarsgaard received top billing. He has been attached to this film for a number of years.
Come on, girls. Anybody?
Miss Stubbs: Anybody else?
Miss Stubbs: Jenny again.
Jenny: Isn't it because Mr. Rochester's blind?
Miss Stubbs: Yes, Jenny.
When Jenny is taking the bus (apparently to Ms. Stubbs flat) it is night and raining; when she walks into the flat, sun is pouring through the kitchen window and birds are singing. In the next scene, she is riding in a bus at night and in the rain.
