THR just checked in with even more casting news for the Eli Roth produced flick Clown. According to the site Peter Stormare (Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters, Fargo) and Laura Allen (From Within, The Collective) will also star.
They join the previously announced Andy Powers, Christian Distefano, Elizabeth Whitmere, and Matthew Stefiuk.
Jon Watts is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Christopher D. Ford. It became an Internet “thing” when a spoof trailer circulated back in 2011. In the film “a loving father dons a clown outfit, wig, bulbous nose, and pancake makeup to entertain at his son, Jack’s (Distefano), sixth birthday after the clown-for-hire is a no-show. Unable to take off the clown garb, dad’s personality changes in horrific fashion. Kelly Overton‘s Gluteus Maximus Muscle in Tekken (2010) is always on display. Kelly Overton and her gluteus Maximus Tekken outfits, in some circles, could earn costume designer Shawn Holly Cookson an award of some kind (probably Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards) for trying to sell the film in such a salacious and audacious way. Nothing can save Tekken from being the mediocre (a kindness) fight film that it is though but Kelly Overton and her gluteus maximus muscle do try.
We reviewed it and the rest of the film here: Film Review: Tekken (2010). For your edification: The original Mortal Kombat movie is better than Tekken. Mortal Kombat: Legacy completely blows it away. Jean-Claude Van Damme‘s Street Fighter is better than Tekken. S.T.R.E.E.T. F.I.G.H.T.E.R.! Below is the best ass-pect of Dwight H. Little‘s Tekken.

So it appears that there's a hot new indie thriller in town that has managed to go virtually undetected by the film fan community and yet has been picking up awards all over the country. Directed by Judson Pearce Morgan and main actress Kelly Overton, the film is called The Collective and was shot quite beautifully on HD. Only 17 people have reviewed it from it's many festival screenings but it's already sitting at a 7.6 rating which is actually above average for most tightly budgeted fair.
