Two friends are searching for their long lost companion. They revisit their college days and recall the memories of their friend who inspired them to think differently, even as the rest of the world called them "idiots".
Kajol was also supposed to play a role (lead or cameo) in the film but turned it down.
That day we learned, when your friend flunks, you feel bad, when he tops, you feel worse.
When Viru talks about NASA developing a pen for space that works in space, writes upside, and even underwater, Rancho gets a laugh and embarrasses the professor by stating that they could have used a pencil. The graphite in pencils is an electrical conductor and breaks off during use. In a weightless environment (like a spacecraft), these pieces of graphite could get inside controls and other delicate electrical equipment, causing all sorts of problems. This is why NASA developed a special pen. An engineering professor would likely know this and be able to respond to the student's quick, naive solution. However, during the scene where Viru gives Rancho the pen, he explains why NASA made the pen.
In South Korea, the film was edited to 141 minutes for theatrical release. The uncut version was later released at the Director's cut.
