Started badly, got worse in the middle, and the less said about the end the better. Awful acting. Terrible writing. Laughable effects. Quite possibly the worst film I have ever seen... and I rewatched Battlefield Earth immediately after just to be sure!
  • The 2010 movie titled "Contagion" (aka "Bio-Slime") caught my attention given its rather macabre cover. And being a life-long horror fan, of course I had to sit down to watch this movie from writer and director John Lechago, even if I had never even heard about the movie before.

But I have to say, don't get your hopes up for "Contagion", because this is a low budget movie in every sense of the term. And director John Lechago was paying too much focus and attention on pointless nudity and sex scenes in the movie, and that just brought the movie down to a very sleazy level for me. I don't mind nudity or sex scenes, but it was just too much here in this 2010 movie.

The acting performances in "Contagion" were amateurish. I am not saying that they were necessarily bad, but you're not in for award-winning performances of memorable levels here. Some of the acting performances were fair, while others were sluggish and rigid.

Visually then "Contagion" was okay. But again, it was weighed down by the pointless and excessive nudity and focus on sex scenes.

If you enjoy horror movies, then there are far better choices out there. I didn't finish this movie, because it was just too painful to sit and suffer through, and I have zero intentions of returning to watch the rest.

My rating of "Contagion" lands on a two out of ten stars.

    Warning: Spoilers
This indie sci-fi/horror combo is hampered by dreadful direction and a director who seems to think that split second cutting between different shots is how you direct action. No, it just gives the viewer a headache. The rest is a mish-mash of ideas and scenarios from better movies; it involves a group of people trapped in a building with a black alien slime that possesses people. Some really bad acting is interspersed with lots of sex, nudity and ickiness, but the whole thing is simply very, very bad.
  • I saw an exclusive showing of BIO SLIME at the Las Vegas IndieMeet. Of all the features, this one had viewers asking "How much was the budget on this?" It had some polish on it, especially in the effects area.

Storywise, BIO SLIME is as basic as a horror flick gets - all the characters are trapped in an apartment building with the creature waiting just outside. Some of the occupants are interesting. You have the starving artist, who is facing eviction. He lives next to a porn producer, who shoots movies in his apartment. This provides plenty of naked girls, as potential monster food! BIO SLIME feels like a Sy Fy Channel feature. The impressive monster effects are the real star of this movie. Worth a look, if you're into slimy horror flicks!
  • Surely one of the most fun, gross-out movies ever made and the special effects are really well produced (being executed in such a tantalizing fashion). I'm sure this was a winner with fans, receptive to this type of material. 'Bio Slime' (aka 'Contagion') was never released in the U.K, so was excited to pick up a copy (whilst on holiday) in Thailand. The very talented actress Victoria De Mare, is on very top form and gives the whole production a touch of quality. Without knowing too much about this picture beforehand, it manages to capture both the imagination and deliver the chilling (slimy) goods. For me, quite a horror show sensation.
  • As a sucker for indie scifi and horror flicks, no matter how bad they might be made, it took me some effort to get hold of this obscure piece of cinema, but it was definitely worth. it doesn't mess around and gets straight down to business - resulting in the side of a car completely splattered with fresh blood.

before we can think about the circumstances, people start dying left and right, killed by an accidently released organism we never get to know a lot about. there is a porn shooting next door, some related t&a, and soon everyone's panicking, yelling and taking meth, and, of course, getting killed. another reviewer described "bio slime" as a mold from "species" and "the blob", a comparison that can be agreed with. thinking of the fate of one or two characters, i dare to add the story of "starcraft 2", resulting in a couple of scenes i guarantee you haven't seen before, or even alike. even these few minutes are worth the at times slow pace. it is impressive what you can do today in so-called low budget movies.

now for the huge turnoff that made me take 1 star away: the characters themselves. they are a bunch of extraordinarily flat, shallow randoms - some of the chicks actual porn stars -, none of them remotely likeable or sympathetic - and i couldn't help but hate "troy", pretty much the main hero, and his face. don't get me wrong, he wasn't ugly or repulsive, but something in his.. his looks made me constantly think "please die already!" which is a thought i don't have often when viewing horror movies. so yes, give it a try, pick up some friends, get wasted, and enjoy the ride! oh, and don't blame yourself if you crave for troy to get absorbed by the creature. i surely will not.

A motley assortment of desperate people are trapped inside a rundown apartment building with a lethal and vicious flesh-eating slime monster. If these folks don't find some way to stop this thing and get out of the building, it's curtains for all of them. So far, so basic, but fortunately writer/director John Lechago manages to milk plenty of claustrophobic suspense from the tense, gripping, and increasingly dire premise, maintains a swift pace and a darkly serious tone throughout, presents an evenly balanced depiction of human beings in a crisis situation (some behave in a heroic and admirable manner while others only care about saving their own hides at any cost), delivers plenty of in-your-face graphic and disgusting goo-slinging splatter, and further spices up the already enjoyable proceedings with a generous amount of tasty bare female skin (some of the characters are involved in the porn industry). The sturdy acting from the capable cast rates as another major asset: Vinnie Bilancio makes for a sympathetic lead as boozy down and out struggling artist Troy, the always sexy and captivating Victoria De Mare contributes a strong performance as jaded and cynical adult film starlet Mary, Kelli Kaye likewise impresses as the battered, but resilient Shannon, plus there are sound turns by Gia Paloma as the brave and selfless Annie, Ronnie Lewis as Troy's nice guy best pal Hal, Magic J. Ellingson as antsy druggie Jack, Al Burke as the gruff land lord, Micol Bartolucci as the land lord's foxy mail order bride Constanza, and Monique Da Barr as the ditsy Donna. Tom Devlin's spectacularly icky and grotesque make-up f/x are convincing and every bit as revolting as they ought to be. Moreover, the dingy apartment setting gives the picture a firm grounding in a certain grimy reality while the savage monster attack set pieces pack a really hard'n'nasty punch and the creature's ability to take on the form of the people it absorbs adds an extra creepy and unnerving edge. A very effective and satisfying little fright flick.
  • Great practical effects and nudity so this won me over. It's true the characters could be better especially the lead guy but for having such a miniscule budget, the effects are incredible. There are also a ton of them throughout the movie.

I think if you watch a lot of indie horror, you can appreciate this. If you expect something on the level of The Thing or The Blob, obviously they don't have anywhere near that budget or time so you should realize that going in.

I'm a big fan of Victoria De Mare after Werewolf in a Womens Prison so I was happy to see her in this. I wish they would make a sequel to this or more movies like it.
