Thought it was going to be the regular stalker film, but big surprise it was way more than that. Good acting and with the beautiful Christine Ko was the icing on the cake. Definitely a 6/10, but had to give an extra for the clever ending that I never seen coming. Worth the watch.
  • Original plot with an unexpected ending.

Actors did a good job as well as the director with the filmography.

Finally something else in terms of trama and script.

Easy to watch uncomplicated film with a good plot, decent acting and a little twist in the end. Just goes to show you don't need a huge budget to make a decent film these days. 6 stars.

Super slow long walk for a mild twist. Not good. Excruciatingly slow and dragged out.
  • I had the opportunity to sit dow nand watch the 2020 thriller "Blinders" (aka "Stalker") here in 2021. Well, I hadn't actually ever heard about the movie, but I still opted to watch it as it was a movie that I hadn't already seen, plus the movie's synopsis sounded interesting.

And writers Dash Hawkins and Tyler Savage certainly managed to compile a storyline that proved to be every bit as interesting as it was entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, as it was quite well written. I do like the twist to the ending, although it was predictable. But it was a good twist nonetheless.

The storyline was a great combination of character development and good storytelling, so it was quite nicely balanced. And there just was a great sense of awkwardness and genuine odd behaviour along the way, which added quite well to the movie. Lots of that was thanks to Michael Lee Joplin's performance.

They had managed to get toget a good cast ensemble for the movie, with Vincent Van Horn in the lead role (playing Andy), and he was joined by Michael Lee Joplin (playing Roger) and Christine Ko (playing Sam). They had great on-screen presences and definitely carried the movie quite well. I was especially impressed with actress Christine Ko's performance here.

If you enjoy a good thriller with a well-written story and intersting characters, then you should most certianly take the time to watch "Blinder", provided you have the opportunity to do so. I was genuinely entertained all throughout the movie, and it is one that I can warmly recommend.

My rating of "Blinders" from director Tyler Savage lands on a seven out of ten stars.

I watched this with a friend and wow. It's so bad. The storyline feels very rushed like the director didn't think to actually write out the characters. Because the lack of character development it's almost impossible to care about this movie as the bad things that happen are happening to the lead which we know two sentences about. It felt really weird that the Asian love interest/true killer murders the victims with a chop stick basically. A bit odd/stereotypical/kinda contrived. It would have been more interesting and made more sense if instead of the director throwing in random blood shed in the middle of the movie- he took the time to further develop the ride share villain. We did not need two killers. The ride share guy could have a much deeper and twister backstory and not just be a dude who loves his co-killer who wants to make a buck. Worst movie I have watched this year by far. Lazy writing.
  • The plot starts off as a bit of a cliché (Essentially Ben Stiller's "Cable Guy" without the comedy)

HOWEVER, the plot takes some twists and turns that are so clever and unexpected, I was on the edge of my seat until the closing credits.

    Well done!!!

    👏👏👏
  • I found this to be very watchable,well-acted and kept one guessing. It reminded me of Pacific Heights at one point (without the good ending). The characters were appealing and somewhat sweet, but don't allow that to draw you in; a twist ruined it for me. At its heart, it's a warning of how much information on us is out there on the world wide web.
  • They filmed in LA and the acting was good, the tone is balanced throughout and it is a pretty good thriller.

    Warning: Spoilers
A man is stalked and harassed by a rideshare driver after rejection

The movie takes itself very seriously. It as watchable but i wasn't sure if i was liking it or not. In the second half it was way more enjoyable with humor is introduced. After giving it some thought i think it's messed up that i found this humorous and that it was played off as humorous because of this was about a woman having her privacy violated by a man, and the cops poking fun at her, it would be disturbing, not funny. But again the movie does work when it's not trying to be serous the whole time. The comedic moments helped it. I didn't like the lead actors performance. A lot of things are happening to him but hes rolling with the punches. If this happened to any of us we would be freaking out. I s he high, deadpan or just bad directing? I also didn't think his love interest was good either. She was the worst performance. I didn't see the twist coming, and at first i thought it was kinda dumb and i didn't udnerstant the motive. Going back to woman's acting, it now makes sens why her acting was so bad, cause she was faking it. Her performance was deff a lot better when we see who she really is. She makes a good cold blooded villain.
  • Thoroughly enjoyed this movie and the ending was unexpected. Not your typical stalker movie. I would recommend this movie to those who like a plot twist with a twist.
  • So you might be able to see the twist coming (like I did) - but the believability of something just like this happening is what keeps this movie running. For an indie thriller, it does a decent job of keeping the crazy guy crazy and only falls short towards the end.
  • The best way I could describe this movie to someone who hasn't seen it is "lifetime material." If you've seen a lifetime thriller before, you'll know exactly what I mean. It's decently entertaining, but nothing too exciting or original. Kind of falls apart with some contrived twists, but the first chunk ain't bad.

I knew what was happening in the first 10 min. I don't understand why everyone is saying there's a huge twist. I was looking forward to an ending I didn't predict, however it was just as I thought. Good acting but just not a "thriller" to me...
  • Good acting, decent script, good direction and photography - well what a surprise!...more to come...

The story flowed really well and builds up the tension quite admirably using a slice of the Sandra Bullock movie THE NET (1995) combined with a soupçon of seriously weirdo stalking, then throwing in a few sprigs of serial killer for good measure and guess what? It works rather well.

Finishing it off with a very unusual and surprising denouement which goes against the usual Hollywood happy ending formula and you have a tasty tortilla of cinematic spice...Nice!
  • What could potentially have been a decent independent film turned out to a "look at me film." The original premise was somewhat engaging and if they stuck with that it may have been better, but no, they had to go muddy it up with M. Night type twist at the end that was totally unnecessary. We don't need movies to have convoluted WOKE plots. To me, M. Night ran a few good movies with the big reveal ending, like Sixth Sense. Usual Suspects also come to mind, but that genre of films with the "shock reveal end" has been tested and tried and to me totally outdated and overdone now.

This would have worked better as a character, rather than a plot-driven movie. However, they also needed better actors. The lead guy is a low-energy bore-fest with no personality. Neither did his co-star. She was another bore. The "stalker" was more fun to watch, but they never took it to the full potential. Essentially a rip-off "Cable Guy" with a "twist at the end. But the reason why Cable Guy worked is that the characters and their relationship were the focus of the film. Here the plot became the focus, but when it finally ended I didn't care about any of them so the ending had no emotional connection. Frankly, because the writer seemed so keen on getting to the plot twist he forgot to write interesting and likable characters.

Another annoying thing was the constant social media screen popups. They have to figure out another way of showing text messaging etc without the annoying vertical screenshots. The "Look at me" is compounded with the use of anamorphic lenses to get the blue horizontal blue flares. They are totally overused, especially in the digital film world where filmmakers think it's more "cinematic" (whatever that means) to use them and show off their blue flares. Why do I bring it up? Because it gave the film an indie look, but not in a good way. It's not that anamorphic lenses are necessarily bad, but when you see it on every DP's reel and low-budget film in their attempt to make it look "Cinematic" it becomes overused like an old joke you've heard 50 times.

Also, the tone of the film didn't match the gore ending. It was someone told them, "hey we need some blood in this film" so they just randomly added it.

Even the secondary plot twist at the end was unfulfilling because it was rushed and really made no sense at all. You have to watch to find out what I am talking about, which I wouldn't recommend, so you may be in a pickle.

Lastly, some of the characters like the cops were so unbelievable in terms of cast and dialogue. Nothing was believable. There is a scene in the middle of the movie with a couple (not gonna give it away) that was so random, but for a second I thought it was in there to frame the lead character, which would have taken the movie in a better direction. They didn't.

Just the overall story was weak and I wish they had spent a bit more time on the writing.

I root for indie filmmakers so it is a shame when I see them fail such as the instant case.

If you wanna see Indie films go check out Sean Baker's films or watch this year's academy winner, Nomadland. Although Baker focusing on characters, he does lack some plot, like any plot, but nevertheless, his films have a more deeply rooted emotional connection, unlike this one.
  • I really enjoyed this movie, especially given its low budget. It is, however, lacking in originality. The twist was insultingly obvious and if you're observant, you'll figure it out in the first 20 min.

I hated the ending. Thought it was lazy.

    Warning: Spoilers
It Started Out as a Promising Good Independent Thriller Film, But Then as Movies Do These Days Started Falling And Falling And I Actually Almost Fell Asleep, All I Could Make Out In The End Is an Asian/American Psycho Maniac Female Going From Place To Place Or State To State Killing People, Yeah, That One Never Has Been Done Before "wink" Good Acting Does NOT Make a Good Movie as I Seen Some Reviewers Chose To Say "The Acting Was Good"...And! So Do NOT, But If You Do, Don't Expect Much Because You Will NOT Get Much From This Baby!

This was not a bad little thriller with a couple of twists towards the end . Vincent Van Horn plays Andy. He meets a lady at a bar Sam (Christine Ko) and they become involved . He tells her that his ex cheated on him . He accepts a lift back from a ride share driver Roger. (Michael Lee Joplin) Soon Andy regrets this as Roger keeps messaging him and after he rejects Roger Roger begins to stalk him . Not all is at it seems in this film . There are some twists and turns later in the film . It has elements of the Saw films and The Gift (Joel Edgerton) The film does hold you and you don't know what is coming next .
  • Have no idea what this movie was about. I hate when movies have to use huge plot holes to keep a plot going. Like the fact if someone texts someone they can't just call them? Ok...movie over If he did that I guess.

I'm trying to figure out still what the movie is about because the ending made literally 0 sense.

Skip this one. Go watch the cable guy for the 100th time and at least enjoy 1.5 hours of your life.

If anyone can explain the ending that would be great because I either missed a point of dialogue or it really is the worst movie I've seen in a long long long time.

The acting is ok, and the scenes, but omg. The only good was the dog being named Juicebox.

This was a nice little thriller with twists and turns at the end I didn't expect.
  • Warning: Spoilers
"Thanks for the ride, you kids have fun". You know I've never had a Lyft or Curb driver say that to me as I was getting out of their vehicle. I'd think they'd be a little off if they did.

Anyway, a ride-share driver decides to ruin the life of a nice guy rider because he won't be the driver's best bud. That's the initial gist of 2020's Stalker (my latest review). After seeing Stalker, I wouldn't be surprised if a viewer avoided getting into Ubers, moving to LA, or giving a random their cell phone number. Heck, it all felt too real to me.

Released on the Internet in June of this year, Stalker is initially pretty familiar stuff. I mean if you've seen Taxi Driver, 2018's Ride, The Cable Guy, or Nightcrawler you're getting what I'm throwing at you. I'm talking flicks where weirdo psychos drive around uncontrolled in cars or just wanna hang out cause they're freaking lonely.

Stalker's director (Tyler Savage) pits Los Angeles at its most dark, most DTA-d, and least tinseled. His film is like his last name and it starts blase until things render creepier with each passing minute.

Now would Stalker be able to be made 20-30 years ago? Probably not. The film sledgehammers social media and stealing one's identity as a villainous property. And is Stalker the type of pic that trades justness and solace for an unhappy and upsetting ending? You bet.

Debit card fraud and Snapchats begot, Stalker gives you a doozy of a concluding twist that almost makes it a trifling exercise. Aside from showing the evil that men (and women) do, Stalker is just peripheral remorselessness. It's a fairly well-made thriller that eventually leaves you with a sour taste in your mouth. That's why I'm only giving it a "2.5 star rating". Natch.

    Worst
This is the worst movie I have watched in my life... a wast of time, and the ending is a total disaster. The acting is poor, and there is no explanation or hints what are these killers intention. Just unrealistic at all. The only thing good is the dog Juice in this movie. What happens in this movie is just sick and annoying to watch.

It's too bad that I have to get a IMDb account to review it!
  • I don't know why but this is the worst movie I've seen in 2021.
  • Could be. The first 80% was actually watchable, not great, but certainly watchable. Then the twist at the end was so contrived, unrealistic and lazy that I actually burst out laughing and spilled my cherry slurpee and bag of cheetohs all over my Old Navy shirt and shorts. It was a mess...as was this film.
