Hugh Grant is worried about the state of making movies. His complaints aren’t so much about the final products themselves, but the culture around them. His latest movie is a hit, but he’s looking for more than good business results out of his moviemaking experience.
The Love Actually actor thinks there’s been a cultural shift on movie sets. Actors don’t develop the same camaraderie they once did, nor the same romances According to Grant, there is a very simple habit to blame for this change.

40 years ago, Hugh Grant made his film debut in 1982’s “Privileged,” a little-seen effort about undergraduates at Oxford (where Grant studied English lit), which was funded by the Oxford University Film Foundation. In its July 14, 1982, review, Variety said the film — which also marked the bows of producer Andy Paterson, director Michael Hoffman, actors Imogen Stubbs and James Wilby and composer Rachel Portman — would have “limited interest” for most audiences but that the actor, billed as Hughie Grant, gives a convincing performance as an “aristocratic dropout.”
For the next five years, Grant did sketch comedy, played the classics onstage and worked in TV; his first mention in Variety was for the 1985 miniseries “Jenny’s War,” playing the Raf pilot son of Dyan Cannon.
He boosted his profile with the 1987 Merchant-Ivory film “Maurice,” adapted from E.M. Forster. The film also featuring his “Privileged” costar Wilby and the two shared the best-actor prize at the Venice Film Festival.

In the first episode of “Ragdoll,” the new cat-and-mouse cop show from “Killing Eve” creators Sid Gentle, the lead trio of detectives played by Lucy Hale, Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Thalissa Teixeira encounter a cadaver (the titular Ragdoll) stitched together from the limbs, torso and head of six separate murder victims, strung up from the ceiling.
Even Hale, a self-confessed true-crime fan, was disturbed by the gruesome sight. “I’m pretty good at compartmentalizing, obviously, what I do for a living [and] who I am, what’s real, what’s not real,” the “Pretty Little Liars” alum tells Variety.
“But this day in particular was so strange because the three of us decided not to see the Ragdoll before we shot that scene. And when we saw it, I mean, you’re kind of speechless,” she says. “It looks like a real human: the detail, the skin colour, the hair. It was dripping,...

Actress Lucy Hale ("Pretty Little Liars") poses for Dutch lingerie brand Hunkemöller, photographed by David Roemer:
"I'm at this place in my life where I accept all parts of me, not just the good parts," said Hale.
"The good, the bad and the 'ugly'. And so to feel empowered in something that is vulnerable like lingerie, that is special to me.

Lucy Hale is set as a lead in Ragdoll, a crime drama series for AMC and Alibi based on the novel by Daniel Cole, Deadline has confirmed. The series hails from Sid Gentle Films, the British production company behind Killing Eve.
Adapted for television by Freddy Syborn, the six-part drama is described as a “modern-day Faustian thriller” centers on the murder of six people whose bodies have been dismembered and sewn into the shape of one grotesque body — nicknamed “The Ragdoll.”
Assigned to the shocking case are DS Nathan Rose, recently reinstated to the London Met; his best friend and boss, Di Emily Baxter; and the unit’s new recruit, DC Lake Edmunds, portrayed by Hale. The “Ragdoll Killer” taunts the police by sending them a list of his next victims, with Rose’s name among them. And with those victims to protect, our heroes soon come under intense public scrutiny.

The Archie Universe on TV is set to expand with the upcoming addition of Katy Keene, and after viewing the three episodes available for critics, I can say that the series offers something new for the franchise.
Instead of being shrouded in darkness like Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Katy Keene plays out more like a New York-set fairytale, and in the process, it shines a light on the pitfalls of trying to become rich and famous.
Lucy Hale leads the cast as the titular character.
You would think the actress would be over the teen drama genre after roles in Privileged, Life Sentence, and, of course, Pretty Little Liars., but Hale embodies the character well, using her full acting range to convey this colorful confection of a character that first originated in comic-book form.

Riverdale will give fans their first look at Katy Keene (Lucy Hale) ahead of the latest spinoff.
The CW has unveiled the official photos from Riverdale Season 4 Episode 12, and they show Veronica Lodge (Camilla Mendes) traveling to New York and meeting up with her old pal.
If you watch Riverdale online, you know Veronica lived in New York before touching down in the murder capital of the small screen.
The special episode focuses on Veronica gearing up for a college interview in New York, which allows her to reconnect with Katy.
They will chat about their lives, and go on a shopping spree.
“Before Katy Keene officially premieres, we all thought it would be super fun to do a crossover that took Veronica to Katy’s world — New York City — and established Katy in the Riverdale universe,” executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi said in a statement when the crossover was announced.

“Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale has joined the cast of Sony and Blumhouse’s upcoming film Fantasy Island.
Starring opposite Michael Pena, Hale will play one of the guests at a mysterious island where people can live out their fantasies — for a price. The movie is based on the television series, which ran for seven seasons from 1977 to 1984 and often dealt with dark themes and the supernatural.
Pena will portray Mr. Roarke, a role originated by Ricardo Montalban in the television series. The TV show became best known for Mr. Roarke’s sidekick Tattoo (played by Hervé Villechaize), who would ring a bell in a bell tower and shout “Ze plane! Ze plane!” to announce the arrival of a new set of guests at the start of each episode.

Lucy Hale is in talks for the role of Melanie in “Fantasy Island,” a movie from Blumhouse and Sony, individuals with knowledge of the project exclusively told TheWrap. Hale previously toplined “Truth or Dare” for Blumhouse.
Hale would join Michael Peña, who will follow in the steps of Ricardo Montalban as Mr. Roarke, the proprietor of “Fantasy Island.” “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Dave Bautista is also in talks to join the film.

If you’re confused about how James Franco has the time to promote a new film (Neighbors) while starring on Broadway in Of Mice and Men, fear not. Those thick eyebrows and that wry smile belong to none other younger brother, Dave Franco. Yes, there are two! (Well, technically three.) Luckily there’s room for multiple Francos in our current pop culture universe. But which one deserves your undying love?
In Neighbors, Franco the Younger plays the VP to Zac Efron‘s fraternity president, flaunting a sculpted chest and a pretty strong Robert DeNiro impression. After roles in films like Warm Bodies, 21 Jump Street and Now You See Me, Dave is poised for his breakout moment this year, one that sets him even further apart from his older brother. The two share great hair genes, a toothy grin and admiration for Seth Rogen, but their respective bodies of work are much different.

The popular novel Sisterland is heading to TV, Deadline reports. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage's production company is behind the series, and Mistresses' Rina Mimoun will adapt the book for the pilot, which has landed at ABC. The story centers on identical twin sisters who have psychic powers — powers that one of them embraces and publicizes, and that one tries to hide. Mimoun has a vastly underappreciated sisterhood show under her belt already: 2008's short-lived CW show Privileged, which is still the best role Joanna Garcia's ever had.
