| Failed "protagonist"
At no point do I ever side with the so called "protagonist" played by Jamie Fox. This movie does not convey the "hero" to have any values that you would want to root for. Other than that glaring problem, Gerard Butler does a great job playing the vigilante

Trivia

At one point Frank Darabont was attached to direct and was revising Kurt Wimmer's original draft until leaving due to "creative differences." Once F. Gary Gray came on-board to direct, David Ayer, Jordan Roberts and Sheldon Turner each took cracks at the script.

Quotes

Clyde Shelton: These are tourniquets, so you don't bleed out, 'cause you may be here a while.
Clyde Shelton: Saline solution, that should keep us going.
Clyde Shelton: Clamps nice and secure. Comfortable? You really are shaking. Sure you're all right?
Clyde Shelton: You'll love this. Adrenaline. Now this is so ...

Goofs

When Clyde is making his order for the catered lunch, he orders a "20oz Porterhouse 'Medium', maybe a little bit charred". When the food is delivered to his cell, the waiter calls out each food and when referring to the Porterhouse, he says "Medium Rare", Clyde clearly hears this and does not object. The difference between the 2 temperatures, to an obvious red meat connoisseur, would not be acceptable. Additionally, the lunch delivered is not exactly as he ordered; No Butter Squash or Pommes Frites (French Fries) as ordered, & Clyde never orders pasta but offers a plate of it to his cellmate, the waiter had said it was Lobster Macaroni & Cheese.

Alternate Versions

The Ireland release was originally rated 18 and revised to get a 16 rating, only to be rated 18 once again for video release.
