With the help of a mysterious pill that enables the user to access one hundred percent of his brain abilities, a struggling writer becomes a financial wizard, but it also puts him in a new world with lots of dangers.
Throughout production, the film was called "The Dark Fields", the same name of the book on which it was based.

Man: Eddie! I know you're in there.
Eddie Morra: Why is it that the moment your life exceeds your wildest dreams, the knife appears at your back? Well, I'll tell you one thing... I will never let them touch me.
During the fight in the fancy condo at the end, Gennady shakes his case of pills, saying he doesn't like getting this low (implying he still has some left). There is an audible rattle of pill inside. He then explains he transforms the pills to an inject-able form. Shortly after, when the fight is over, and Eddie needs a dose, he drinks the spilled blood.. ignoring the case with Gennady's remaining pill inside.
