Tong tou tie bei

I rate this a broken 5 just because I saw it as a kid in 1973, and the title impressed me so much! Tien Peng (aka Roc Tien from the trash-cult THE TONGFATHER) was a major star in Taiwan; his allied in this revenge story is Chiang Pin, a good performer in 76 movies. Both Peng and Pin were already paired in the Wuxia genre (RAIDERS OF REVENGE, 1972) and they worked better as swordsmen than as bare-handed fighters. Wong Chun Hsin (FIST OF FURY; THE WAY OF THE DRAGON) and his real-life wife Lina Chiao (THE ONE-ARMED SWORDSMAN; RETURN OF THE ONE ARMED SWORDSMAN) plays respectively the evil Casino boss and the girl in distress in this mediocre movie. The fighitings are staged by Yao Tien Lung (who did better as leading actor in films like THE BAMBOO BROTHERHOOD) and another guy. Tech values, from the camerawork to the photography, manifestly shows a poor budget. The locations are the same you can see in many others Taiwan's Kung-Fu films of the period, expecially the river. Released 8/31/72 in Taipei. Actor-director Chin Sheng-En made about 30 movies, including THE DEVILISH KILLER, DUEL WITH SAMURAI and CHAOCHOW GUY, all of them on the same low-level, which can also be fun to watch sometime.
