I wasn't sure what to expect from Krazy House, but since it starred Nick Frost, I was already sold on watching it. It took me a while to understand what was going on, but the movie presents a sitcom-style family with Nick Frost playing the dad, a religious homemaker. At some point, a group of Russian workers arrives, and things quickly start to spiral out of control.
While this movie has a vastly different plot and tone, the results reminded me of this year's Black Cab: an intriguing premise that ultimately fails to impress, with Nick Frost being the main reason to watch. However, I preferred Krazy House slightly more because it fully embraced its absurdity and seemed to have more fun with it.
Unfortunately, the movie never really captured my attention. With all the absurdity and chaos happening, I often felt overstimulated. Nothing felt impactful, which made it hard to connect with the characters, and as a result, I didn't care much about where the narrative was heading.
The comedy aspects didn't work too well for me, and the film was rarely funny. On the other hand, the gore was well-executed, and there's plenty of action to ensure you won't get bored. The acting was decent but occasionally subpar; however, each actor still managed to portray their character in a way that kept the scenario functional.
Overall, Krazy House is a wild (or "krazy") movie with a fun premise and some clever ideas, but the execution fell short for me. [4,8/10]

The concept about a satirical action on a 90s sitcom and religious figures is an interesting concept but unfortunately, despite the performances from the cast, production designs, and the effects are pretty good, it's over-long excessive use of humor, messy structure, and annoying tone really does a disservice to the movie.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy silly and over-the-top narratives but this movie fails to understand how to balance out the satire and over-the-top themes properly and it feels as an edge lord wanted to make a forced comedy and story, rather it being clever. It's unbalanced structure causes the characters to feel excessively uninteresting and some really rough dialogue choices. Even if it was intentional, it felt forced.
The performances are good as Nick Frost and Alicia Silverstone are both great. There are some decent action moments that are well-done and the special effects are really good. I do appreciate the concept to be creative but, this movie really doesn't work.

Now, I had never heard about the 2024 horror comedy "Krazy House" from writers and directors Steffen Haars and Flip Van der Kuil. But seeing it was a horror comedy that had Nick Frost in the leading role, of course I opted to watch the movie.
Writers Steffen Haars and Flip Van der Kuil delivered a script and storyline that utterly failed to entertain me. The movie is listed as a horror comedy, but there is very little comedy to be found anywhere, and as for the horror aspect, well it has been done and seen better in other movies. I found "Krazy House" to be a disappointing swing and a miss of a horror comedy.
Sure, the acting performances in the movie were fair, but this was hardly among the best of Nick Frost's performances, nor a particularly memorable one either. The only other familiar face on the cast list was Alicia Silverstone.
This movie was not my cup of tea, and it most certainly is not a movie that will ever finds it way back on my screen a second time. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend you to waste 89 minutes on watching.
My rating of "Krazy House" lands on a three out of ten stars.

I entered the theatre knowing I was in for some kind of goofy and over the top fun while the other people here apparently weren't. Everyone in the theatre was having a good time. The film is aware of itself of being over the top, and it's a parody worth watching. Is it the best film ever, no of course not, but I'd definitely say it's worth the price of admission. I was never bored or continually looking at my phone waiting for the movie to be over, I was on the edge of my seat to see what would be next. If you find this overly violent, preachy, sarcastic then it's just not a film for you. Go watch it if you feel like watching something fun.
This movie started out fine and had some good ideas sprinkled throughout. However, it really takes too long for the main storyline to kick in. Then, it just becomes a repetitive loop of stops and starts, cycling through the same basic situation. Even though they had written some pretty outrageous scenarios, the best moments of the movie had no impact because nothing was properly built up. The filmmakers really needed to have few more rewrites done before shooting started. So instead of a cult classic full of iconic scenes, we get a below average satire that becomes a chore to sit through. I really wanted to like it, but you can't just come up with a few good parts, rush to pad out the rest of the story, and then expect people to care.
