Both director Francois Clousot and star Kaylani Lei remain quite active in the industry a decade after this Wicked release, now working mainly for the Digital Playground/Brazzers conglomerate.
"The Oracle" is a diverting enough fantasy but plays like half a loaf, ending as if begging for a sequel, rather than providing a totally satisfying feature.
Kaylani plays a phony spiritualist, working in league with her boyfriend Barrett Blade, to fool vulnerable folk who are trying to contact deceased love ones in the spirit world. When she encounters a scary old bum (Randy Spears in convincing prosthetic makeup plus a particularly phony beard) who gives her an amulet, Lei acquires supernatural powers that could be her undoing.
This simple, effective premise provides the template for Wicked's XXX scenes, and gives Kaylani a chance to show her acting skills. Blade is Blade, always looking and behaving the same, as if he just wandered onto a porn set from some biker's conclave. Supporting femme cast is exemplary, from Brooke Banner as a duped customer to Brooke Haven, looking even more beautiful than in her salad days as a gonzo girl several years earlier.
